Chapter 3887: An Old Enemy Of The Wild Peak
Chapter 3887: An Old Enemy Of The Wild Peak
The woman waited for Taegong to continue.
"He surfaced only a few years ago and recently, he has begun causing disturbances near the border between the Eastern Immortal Court and the Southern Immortal Court." Taegong stated.
"Who?" The woman tilted her head. "And more importantly what makes you think Mountain Roar would personally respond?"
Taegong’s confidence remained unwavering. "The man follows the Demon Path."
The woman remained expressionless. "So do countless others."
Taegong slowly continued. "He appears connected to the lineage of the Slaughtered Moon."
For the first time since their conversation began, the woman visibly reacted.
"The Slaughtered Moon?" Her voice carried genuine surprise. "Impossible! They were eradicated and their lineage had disappeared in the last era."
Taegong calmly nodded. "So everyone believed."
The woman remained silent.
Taegong continued. "Our investigations suggest he isn’t originally from the Immortal Realm. He ascended from the Mortal Realm."
Lin Mu’s eyes quietly narrowed. ’Another ascended cultivator... Interesting.’
"We cannot determine exactly when he ascended." Taegong continued. "He remained insignificant for some time. Only recently has his cultivation advanced enough to become troublesome. He has begun attacking interworld merchant caravans and several border outposts have already suffered losses."
The woman slowly smiled. Apparently something had just occurred to her.
"I remember now." She looked toward Taegong. "Didn’t the Wild Peak lead the offensive against the Slaughtered Moon..." She paused briefly while recalling the ancient history. "...roughly one hundred thousand years ago?"
Taegong nodded. "Indeed. There is an old enmity between them."
He slowly leaned back in his chair. "One that has never truly faded."
The woman’s smile deepened. "I suppose that changes things."
Taegong’s expression became unusually serious. "It certainly does."
"After all..." His eyes narrowed slightly. "...the founder of the Wild Peak died by the hands of the Slaughtered Moon all those years ago."
Those words echoed through the office and hidden within the ceiling, Lin Mu felt another important piece of the puzzle quietly fall into place. Ancient blood feuds rarely disappeared. Especially when they involved the death of one of the sect’s peak founders.
If someone truly claimed inheritance from the Slaughtered Moon... Peak Head Mountain Roar would almost certainly investigate it personally.
Taegong had clearly chosen his distraction with great care. Which meant this conspiracy had likely been planned far longer than the appearance of Little Bull.
The woman remained silent for several breaths after learning about Taegong’s plan. The communication formation flickered softly between them, casting faint ripples of light across the office. Taegong waited patiently, fully expecting another question.
It came soon enough.
"One problem remains."
Taegong nodded. "The transportation."
The woman folded her hands together. "How exactly do you intend to move Little Bull out of the Wild Peak?"
Her tone had become noticeably more serious. "The Wild Peak may appear vast. The forests are dense and the valleys stretch for hundreds of miles." She slowly shook her head. "But that changes very little. If the Elders decide to pursue someone... very few people can successfully escape them."
She looked directly at Taegong. "Especially if High Elder Shatter Peak regains his freedom and Peak Head Mountain Roar learns what happened. You won’t even leave the mountain before they catch you."
Lin Mu silently agreed as the woman clearly understood the strength of the Wild Peak. Peak Head Mountain Roar rarely involved himself in trivial matters. But once he personally moved, the matter could no longer be considered ordinary.
High Elder Shatter Peak alone possessed frightening physical abilities.
Lin Mu had already witnessed enough to understand that chasing someone across mountains would hardly inconvenience the giant.
Taegong, however, merely smiled.
It was the same confident smile he had worn throughout the entire conversation. Without saying anything immediately, he reached into his sleeve and a small object appeared between his fingers.
Lin Mu’s attention instantly focused upon it.
It barely measured the size of a fingernail and its shape resembled a tiny cube. Almost like an ordinary gaming die. But instead of numbers or dots, each of its six faces bore a different rune.
The runes themselves appeared ancient and their lines twisted in ways that ordinary spatial formations never did.
And the moment the object appeared... Lin Mu sensed an extremely subtle fluctuation of Spatial Qi.
His eyes immediately narrowed. ’A spatial treasure.’
The woman reacted as well.
Even through the concealment covering her figure, her surprise became obvious.
"You..." She stared at the tiny cube. "Where did you obtain a Sixfold Horizon Transit Die?"
Taegong lightly rolled the tiny cube across his fingers. The runes briefly shimmered before becoming still again.
"That matters little." His smile widened. "It came from a fortunate encounter."
The woman remained unconvinced. "Fortunate indeed."
She quietly studied the treasure. "The ally we gained several years ago appears considerably more capable than I initially believed."
Taegong neither confirmed nor denied her assumption. He simply continued rotating the tiny cube between his fingers.
Lin Mu quietly memorized the name. ’Sixfold Horizon Transit Die.’
The title suited the treasure well. Each of its six faces clearly represented a different activation seal. He wished he could inspect it more closely. Unfortunately, that remained impossible from his current position.
The woman asked another question.
"How many uses remain?"
Taegong looked toward one particular rune.
"Three." The answer came immediately.
The woman gave a quiet hum. "Something tells me you weren’t the one who expended the previous uses."
"Indeed." Taegong actually laughed. "I obtained it in this condition."
He looked toward the tiny cube with visible appreciation. "A pity."
"Three precious activations were already gone." His expression quickly returned to normal. "Fortunately, we require only one."
"That is sufficient." The woman slowly nodded. "As long as Little Bull reaches the entrance of the Mad Demon Depths our people can manage everything afterward."
Lin Mu silently watched and the wording caught his attention: Our people.
Another indication that this conspiracy extended much further than Taegong alone. Someone already waited near the Mad Demon Depths while being prepared and organized. They were already expecting a prisoner.
