Chapter 3893: Thrown Into Mad Demon Depths
Chapter 3893: Thrown Into Mad Demon Depths
The moment the shackles closed, Lin Mu sensed faint formation fluctuations spreading through the metal. ’Formation shackles.’
The masked cultivator stepped back and the apparent leader calmly raised one hand. His index and middle fingers extended together as a simple hand seal formed.
Then he spoke a single word. "Restrain."
The shackles instantly activated and Lin Mu felt tremendous force seize control of his limbs. His wrists snapped together while his ankles followed. His entire body straightened and his back became perfectly upright.
His shoulders aligned on their own and even his head adjusted itself. Within a heartbeat, Little Bull stood ramrod straight. Every attempt at movement immediately failed as the restraints ignored physical strength entirely. They directly controlled posture itself.
Lin Mu quietly experimented, only the slightest amount and the restraints indeed proved impressive. Breaking them remained possible.
’Will need some extra power.’ He estimated the required force.
It was not insignificant but certainly manageable even with his cultivation sealed.
The leader lowered his hand. "Procedure complete."
Another masked cultivator made a note upon a jade slip.
The leader continued. "Leave him in Level One."
The order received immediate acknowledgment as no further discussion followed. One of the escorts casually walked over. He simply lifted Little Bull onto one shoulder. To Lin Mu, the treatment resembled transporting cargo rather than a living cultivator.
They continued deeper into the cave as the passages gradually widened and several branching tunnels appeared before disappearing into darkness. Eventually, the escort stopped.
Lin Mu finally understood why.
Before them spread dozens of enormous circular openings. Each had been carved directly into the stone floor. They resembled gigantic wells or perhaps vertical tunnels and the darkness inside prevented seeing the bottom.
Lin Mu quietly observed the nearest opening.
There was no ladder, visible staircase, elevator or any kind of mechanism there. Only endless blackness. The masked cultivator walked toward one particular shaft and he looked inside briefly.
Feeling satisfied, he adjusted Little Bull upon his shoulder.
And for the first time since arriving, panic appeared upon Little Bull’s face.
"Wait!" The muffled cry escaped despite the remaining cloth around his mouth.
His eyes widened and he instinctively struggled.
"What are you doing?" The masked cultivator never answered.
Then without hesitation, he simply swung Little Bull forward, then released him. The world suddenly vanished beneath Lin Mu’s feet as Little Bull disappeared into the enormous shaft.
The darkness immediately swallowed him whole as he plummeted deeper into the unknown depths of the ancient prison.
Little Bull continued falling.
At first, there was only empty space beneath him.
The rush of wind roared past his ears while darkness swallowed everything around him. The shaft remained so deep that even Lin Mu’s enhanced eyesight failed to distinguish anything beyond a few meters.
His body rotated slightly during the descent. His thoughts, however, remained perfectly calm.
’Are they actually trying to kill me?’ It seemed like an odd conclusion.
After everything Taegong and the mysterious woman had planned, after the elaborate framing, after using an incredibly valuable treasure like the Sixfold Horizon Transit Die and after transporting him all the way to the Mad Demon Depths...
Would they truly end it by simply throwing him into a bottomless pit?
Lin Mu found that difficult to believe. Little Bull might not survive such a fall but Lin Mu himself naturally had no concerns. Even if every bone in his body shattered upon impact, he possessed more than enough methods to recover.
But from the perspective of the conspirators, they believed Little Bull was merely a body cultivator with exceptional talent. Such a person should not survive an endless plunge and the entire plan would lose its purpose.
There would be no prisoner, only a corpse.
’There has to be something else.’ His answer came a few moments later.
THUMP!
Little Bull struck solid stone. The impact came from his side rather than beneath him.
"The shaft curved?"
Instead of continuing vertically forever, the tunnel gradually bent until the wall itself became the new floor. Lin Mu’s body bounced once before beginning to slide. Loose gravel scattered around him while gravity continued pulling him downward.
The descent never stopped as the tunnel twisted, turned, curved and even seemed to loop for some reason. At times the slope became gentle and several breaths later it steepened once again.
Lin Mu found himself sliding through what resembled an enormous stone tube carved deep beneath the earth. The smoothness surprised him, as it showed this passage had clearly been shaped deliberately.
Whether through formations or overwhelming cultivation, someone had engineered it.
He passed one curve, then another and soon after, the tunnel spiraled. His body circled around the inner walls before gravity carried him toward another downward slope. The entire journey continued far longer than expected.
Several minutes passed.
’How deep does this rock slide go?’ Lin Mu estimated nearly ten full minutes had elapsed.
Even his remarkable sense of direction began struggling. The passage wound through the underground like an enormous serpent. Every twist erased his previous orientation. His Spatial Perception quietly mapped portions of the tunnel while he descended.
The complexity proved astonishing as the route constantly changed direction. Sometimes descending sharply. Sometimes traveling almost horizontally. And occasionally curving back upon itself.
Any prisoner attempting to memorize the path would quickly become hopelessly confused.
Eventually the sliding stopped. Or rather... The tunnel stopped.
Without warning, the smooth stone disappeared beneath him and Little Bull shot out of a circular opening.
For a brief instant he flew through open air once again. Lin Mu immediately realized the tunnel exited high above another chamber. Nearly a hundred meters separated him from the ground below.
His body naturally began falling.
The dim green glow from patches of moss barely illuminated the cavern.
Then...
BOOM!
Little Bull struck the rocky floor with tremendous force. Dust exploded outward and loose stones bounced across the ground. The sound echoed throughout the enormous underground chamber and kept on bouncing until it finally faded away.
