Chapter 3985: Time For Zhenyu’s Debut

Lin Mu’s expression became thoughtful.

The current circumstances surrounding the Wild Peak made much more sense after seeing their historical structure. They were powerful, proud and extremely protective of their own members. They also had a tendency to solve problems through direct action.

High Elder Shatter Peak was practically the embodiment of that tradition.

Lin Mu searched his name and the results were almost comical. There were countless disciplinary records involving property damage, unauthorized combat, arguments with elders, destruction of training grounds, interference in missions and several incidents involving him punching people through walls.

Lin Mu stared at the records for several seconds. "How is this man still a High Elder?"

Xukong laughed. "Merit."

Lin Mu nodded as that was clearly the answer. The man’s achievements were equally ridiculous. He had killed countless powerful enemies and contributed heavily during several wars. His combat ability was considered exceptional even among High Elders.

Lin Mu copied the information.

He then continued through the other elders of the Wild Peak, memorizing their personalities and relationships. By the time another several days had passed, Lin Mu had accumulated an enormous amount of information.

He knew the current structure of the sect. He knew its major factions. He knew the important elders. He knew the history of the Wild Peak. He knew the rise and disappearance of the Hopeful Star Pavilion. He knew enough about Deng Siqi to recognize several inconsistencies.

And most importantly, he now understood how much the sect had changed since Zhenyu’s era.

Lin Mu closed the final jade slip as he had spent almost a week inside the archives. The vast collection of information had transformed the way he viewed the sect. Before entering, he had only intended to verify a few things.

Now he had effectively reconstructed a significant portion of the sect’s history in his mind.

He stood and stretched. "That should be enough."

Xukong chuckled. "Enough for what?"

Lin Mu adjusted his robes. "For Junior Elder Zhenyu."

A faint smile appeared on his face.

He had spent days studying the man and he knew how Zhenyu spoke. He knew how he thought and he knew his relationships. He also knew his cultivation in depth as well as his achievements.

He even knew the petty grievances that had occupied the old man’s mind for thousands of years. Lin Mu reached into his storage treasure and retrieved the jade token belonging to Zhenyu.

He looked at it for a moment. "After over a hundred thousand years," Lin Mu’s smile widened. "It is finally time for Junior Elder Zhenyu to make his debut."

Lin Mu left the ancient archives through another route recorded in Junior Elder Zhenyu’s jade token. This passage was considerably more convenient than the entrance he had used earlier.

The route began from a small storage room hidden within one of the auxiliary halls of the Records Division, and after activating the formation concealed beneath a stack of old containers, the entire room briefly filled with spatial light.

A moment later, Lin Mu was transported to a remote location several dozen kilometers away from the main archive complex. The transition was so smooth that Lin Mu barely felt it. He stepped out of the formation and looked back.

"Such a shame that this route only works one way."

He had already inspected the formation while it was active. The route had been designed solely as an emergency exit. It could recognize someone leaving the archives and send them directly outside the protected perimeter, yet the same mechanism could not be reversed without connecting it to the main formation network of the Records Division.

Lin Mu understood why as the exit formation was essentially a branch of the larger array. To modify it would require establishing a connection with the core formation that protected the entire archive complex.

Once that happened, there was a significant possibility that the Records Division’s defensive formations would notice the alteration. Considering the amount of information stored there, Lin Mu had no desire to gamble with such a thing.

"Perhaps I’ll improve it someday." He shook his head. "There are more important things right now."

Lin Mu immediately used Phase and his body sank beneath the ground. He traveled several kilometers underground before finally stopping. He then activated another spatial route and returned to the hidden chamber within the Mad Demon Depths.

The moment he arrived, he remained silent for several breaths and his eyes slowly moved toward the ceiling. He had spent the past week gathering information and formulating a plan. As such there was only one thing left.

His debut.

Lin Mu walked out of the compressed space and returned to the third level of the Mad Demon Depths. He chose a location carefully.

It was far enough from the known settlements that the initial impact would not directly destroy them, yet it was still connected to the upper layers through a large section of relatively solid rock.

Lin Mu looked upward and he could already imagine the consequences. The tremors would spread through the entire Mad Demon Depths. The prisoners would panic. The beasts would flee. The sect would detect the disturbance and the defensive formations would activate.

The Core Court would immediately begin investigating, people would wonder what had happened. But that was exactly what Lin Mu wanted.

"This will cause quite a bit of panic." He slowly raised his arms and rolled his shoulders. "There are safer methods." His eyes became sharp. "But this one will be remembered."

If Junior Elder Zhenyu simply appeared in the Wild Peak and announced that he had returned after more than one hundred thousand years, the reaction would be complicated. There would be investigations, suspicion and countless questions.

Lin Mu could answer those questions. Yet the return would still feel too ordinary. Zhenyu had been an arrogant genius and a powerful body cultivator. He was a man who had disappeared while pursuing greater strength. A man who had supposedly died more than one hundred thousand years ago.

Such a person returning should create an impression and Lin Mu intended to give them one. He stepped into a horse stance and his feet sank slightly into the rocky ground as he increased his weight to stabilize himself.

His back straightened and his shoulders broadened, as his right fist slowly pulled backward. The expression on his face changed and the relaxed Lin Mu disappeared. The sternness remained, then pride emerged.

It was the pride of someone who had once been young, talented and convinced that the world had been created for him to conquer. It was the confidence of Junior Elder Zhenyu.
