Chapter 1169: Section 1170 Abyssal Will
Chapter 1169: Section 1170 Abyssal Will
“What is it doing?” Angel wondered.
A flicker of understanding crossed Fafnir’s eyes, as if he had thought of something, and he murmured silently in his heart, “Could it be that the Primeval Flame is being nurtured?”
Komodo’s assault never stopped, initially it just rammed with its body, but after numerous impacts, it found that the Pattern of light surrounding the Void Tower merely shook and sustained no damage.
Therefore, Komodo changed its strategy. It picked up a fireball and continuously hurled it at the Pattern.
This time, there finally seemed to be an effect.
A barrage of fireballs struck the Pattern, visibly dimming its colors, but as soon as the force of the fireballs dissipated, the Pattern regained its brightness.
Seeing this, Komodo immediately understood that the burst of energy was insufficient.
Clearly, this Inscription was designed for endurance. To destroy it, an attack exceeding the defensive limit had to be launched to break through in one go. Any attack within the threshold range would not damage the Inscription, and it would also restore itself automatically.
Having realized this, Komodo quickly adapted.
ReadNovelFull.comHowever, even after exhausting all of its explosive force, Komodo still did not reach the level necessary to destroy the Inscription. If quality wasn’t enough, Komodo thought, then it would compensate with quantity.
This one-off attack did not mean a single strike, but rather, a one-time breakthrough within the ongoing duration of the assault.
Komodo then unleashed a series of Flame Meteors, aiming to break the Inscription’s defenses with a constant barrage of meteor impacts.
“Lord Monty, it seems Komodo is preparing to break through that light Pattern, should we lend a hand?” Samantha spoke up as she flew in from another direction.
In her heart, Samantha thought that regardless of what Komodo planned to do after breaking the light Pattern, aiding it in doing so would also benefit herself, after all, Aoluxiya was still hiding behind that Pattern.
Monty, however, slowly shook his head: “Let’s not rush, we’ll see how things go.”
As they waited for Komodo to break the Pattern, a change occurred on the other side of the battlefield. Firstly, Yadasai, who had been trapped in the night shades, charged through Sanders’ defenses unheeded following Kanter’s pressured removal of the night and flew to Nitotipu’s side.
Nitotipu, having retrieved her umbrella floating in the sky, stood shoulder to shoulder with Yadasai, facing the Wizards that encircled them.
Sanders and Kanter flew over to join in, and together with Sinafa and others originally surrounding Nitotipu, it seemed as though the Demons and humans were once again in a standoff.
Just when everyone thought that the conflict was about to escalate and humans and Demons would clash once more, Nitotipu suddenly brought her open umbrella together.
With Nitotipu’s action, the clouds that had been surrounding the crowd slowly dissipated.
Nitotipu’s movements left everyone in astonishment.
The reason why Nitotipu was hard to defeat was precisely because of that umbrella; why would she suddenly retract it? Without the umbrella, leaving them without the obscuring clouds, perhaps with everyone’s combined strength, they could capture Nitotipu!
Sinafa and Issac exchanged looks, the eagerness for battle alight in their eyes, signifying an unspoken desire to seize this opportunity to subdue Nitotipu. However, the others, particularly Nereus, cast a cold and venomous glance toward Sanders and without a word, directly turned and flew towards Monty.
Sinafa felt somewhat helpless as just she and Issac alone would find it difficult to detain Nitotipu, not to mention now with Yadasai’s presence. She could only look towards Sanders, hoping he and Kanter would join in the encirclement.
But before Sanders could respond, Nitotipu suddenly burst into laughter on the other side.
“I know you want to kill me,” Nitotipu said, clearly aware of their prior interactions, “but let’s set aside whether you can actually kill me. Even if you did manage to kill me, do you think you can emerge unscathed from the calamities that will follow?”
“Calamities? I am indeed curious to know what kind of calamities those might be,” a deep and hoarse voice emerged from Sanders’ throat, “I wonder if you could elaborate?”
Following the voice, Nitotipu’s beautiful eyes shifted towards Sanders, and just like Yadasai, a flicker of wariness quickly passed through her gaze upon seeing Sanders.
“Do you think the troubles at Lassudral would go unnoticed by others?”
“Right now, we are but Birds in a Birdcage of flames. We can’t see what’s outside the Birdcage, but those outside can clearly see us all. And don’t forget, right beneath Lassudral lies the gate that connects to the deeper layers of the Abyss.”
Nitotipu’s words plunged the scene into a moment of silence.
She wasn’t wrong, after all. Even without Monty’s help, attempting to tackle Nitotipu would be massively draining. One just had to think back to when they faced Minotaur to know this; the number of causalities wasn’t small, and in the end, Minotaur wasn’t even killed by humans. Moreover, Minotaur was muscle-brained, and still proved difficult to handle. Nitotipu, who was among the more rational and calm of the Seven Seats, was no less powerful than Minotaur. Confronting her—umbrella or not—wouldn’t be any easier than facing Minotaur. And, Yadasai was still nearby.
Even if they could handle Nitotipu, the toll would be heavy, possibly at the expense of their lives. Plus, Nitotipu’s words implied that they were likely to face Demons from “outside the Birdcage,” making it indeed an ill-advised time to expend energy.
They were here to assist Lord Monty in hunting the progeny of the Demon God, not to entangle themselves with these unrelated great Demons.
With that in mind, even Sinafa’s eyes softened a bit: as long as Nitotipu didn’t interfere with Lord Monty’s plans, it was sufficient to just obstruct.
“You make some sense,” Sanders nodded noncommittally, “However, more than that, I’m keener to know why you would retract your umbrella?”
Nitotipu: “If I didn’t retract it soon, my umbrella would have been damaged.”
“What do you mean?”
Nitotipu started to laugh, her smile fraught with hidden significance, “In a moment, you’ll all understand.”
Having said that, Nitotipu and Yadasai did not approach the Void Tower but instead retreated rapidly, coming to a stop behind the ‘black cloud’, now surrounded by dense crowds of Demons.
“That man is very powerful.” Once stationary, Yadasai touched the bloodstain on his neck, having almost been decapitated when trapped by the night earlier.
Nitotipu shrugged, “No matter how powerful, the moment the Flame Bird Cage is opened from the outside, that will be the end of everything.”
Yadasai nodded in agreement, “Yes, after all, the one who is coming is… Lord Galal.”
On the other side, Sanders pondered the words Nitotipu had said upon her departure, which seemed deliberately enigmatic—
Will know soon? Does that mean an unexpected change is imminent?
Just as Sanders was thinking this, he felt a terrifying presence nearby!
This was a fear Sanders had never experienced before, as if heaven and earth were trembling with it… No, heaven and earth were actually trembling. Sanders could clearly see the skies covered in flames, which had been deathly still, suddenly starting to boil and come alive as if doused with oil.
Lots of sky fires, moving turbulently, broke free from their shackles, much like the flaking ash of a mottled wall. These fires fell from the wall of the sky one after another!
This was simply a natural shift in the sky, but what truly astonished Sanders was still that inexplicable terrifying intent.
It seemed not to originate from any living being, it was merely the embodiment of a will!
The will of the flames! The will of the Abyss!
When Sanders first constructed the Witchcraft Garden on Illusion Demon Island, he had felt the will of the world. The pressure from such a will had been incredibly terrifying, but the will he was facing now was even more profound.
It was like facing the entire Abyss!
This feeling wasn’t exclusive to Sanders; all the creatures present sensed this will.
It was a majestic heavenly authority, full of dignity, which made one uncontrollably want to kneel.
And the source of this will… everyone’s gaze turned towards the top of the Void Tower, more precisely, towards the area inscribed by Aoluxiya!
Bang bang—
Enormous sounds awakened those who had nearly succumbed to that previous terrifying will.
Looking carefully, it was Komodo who, with a frenzied expression, continued to command the meteoric flames to slam ferociously against the Inscription!
At that moment, Monty, looking at the top of the Void Tower, seemed to realize something and said to those nearby, including Sinafa, “Help it smash! Hurry! We must break that pattern before its descent!”
Monty’s shout left everyone puzzled, but without asking further questions, they all sprang into action.
Sinafa transformed into her full form, sprouting wings, half white, half black. Terrifying intertwining forces of attraction and repulsion burst from her, surging towards the Inscription.
Issac’s fists blazed with black flames, with the phantom of a Black Dragon slowly rising, accompanied by its dragon roar. Issac threw his punches towards the Inscription.
Samantha’s Glazed Paradise and the projection of Illusory Spirits also rushed forward…
Everyone employed their most powerful attacks, joining with Komodo’s meteoric flames, bombing the Inscription relentlessly!
Afar, on the floating ice, a group of Wizards still hadn’t understood the situation at hand. Where did this sudden terrifying intent come from? Moreover, why did Lord Monty, who had not attacked the Inscription before, now gather others to strike it?
Rivetta, full of confusion, turned to the man beside her, “Mr. Luci, do you know the reason?”
Luci said nothing, simply summoning a wisp of wind with the wave of a hand.
The breeze brushed past the notebook in Rivetta’s hand, flipping through the densely written pages, and when the breeze ceased, the pages stopped turning.
Rivetta looked down.
This notebook was what she had used to record information and secrets after arriving in Lassudral, waiting to be published in “Glowing City Night Talk” once she returned to the Wizards’ Realm.
Now, the page that the notebook had opened to was precisely the information obtained when Kanter and Samantha went to find Angel.
‘The owner of the Hunting Museum, named Night, will soon Ascend the Throne.’
