Chapter 2121 - 2122: Workbench
Chapter 2121: Chapter 2122: Workbench
This is the second time Angel has stepped into the illuminated range.
The first time took him by surprise; he didn’t even notice the presence of Nightmare Light before being dragged into the nightmare. This time, Angel came well-prepared.
Angel bathed in the scope of the red light, waiting anxiously for the results.
Initially, both Angel and Tree Spirit’s expressions were very tense, but as time ticked by, their mood began to calm down.
Three minutes later.
Tree Spirit broke the silent atmosphere: "It’s been so long without any anomalies. Seems your experiment succeeded this time."
Tree Spirit had stepped into the illuminated range multiple times before, so he understood the traits of Nightmare Light well; typically, the moment it envelops you, you get trapped in the nightmare with no buffer time. Angel being able to last three minutes... even thirty seconds or a minute would be enough to prove the Domain Field is effective!
Angel: "Consider it a success, but further testing is needed."
Tree Spirit nodded, understanding Angel’s point. The effectiveness of Nightmare Light outside the door was weaker than inside; further proof was needed to confirm that the Nightmare Light within the door could also be constrained by the Domain Field.
Angel approached the large door.
The door was open, but looking in from outside, nothing could be seen except for the continually surging red glow.
Angel intended to conduct further experiments but was not ready to risk himself, instead, he extended a Phantom Limb from his sleeve as he did before.
Once the Phantom Limb was enveloped by the Domain Field, Angel probed it inside the door.
At this moment, Tree Spirit also entered the Domain Field, standing beside Angel, watching him closely. Ready to sever the Phantom Limb if anything changed.
As a continuation of Angel’s energy, thoughts, and spiritual power, the moment the Phantom Limb entered the doorway, Angel sensed some anomaly as if breaking through a barrier, entering another time and space.
As Tree Spirit had mentioned, inside and outside the door were completely different things.
The red light inside was obviously in a boiling and active state, like a living being, continually surging. Whereas the red light outside was as quiet as a maiden naïve to worldly matters.
Moreover, the red light outside couldn’t trigger Domain Field feedback, but inside, it was different; Angel could clearly feel them continually impacting the Domain Field, seemingly wanting to break boundaries and bring nightmares to the Phantom Limb within.
Unfortunately, even though the attacks were clearly felt, they still couldn’t break the range of the Domain Field.
At most, it forced Angel to add a little more Nightmare Realm aura while maintaining the Domain Field.
For Angel, who possessed the "Channel" green pattern and could continually generate Nightmare Realm aura, this was a piece of cake. He could maintain it indefinitely if he wished.
Angel manipulated the Phantom Limb to rotate a whole circle within the maximum spread of the Domain Field, staying for about a minute before slowly retracting it.
"The situation inside the door is indeed more complex than outside, but the Domain Field can still stably maintain, successfully warding off the corrosion of Nightmare Light."
Upon hearing Angel’s words, Tree Spirit finally relaxed.
"So, we can go in and take a look now?" As Tree Spirit spoke, his previous tense demeanor instantly transformed into earnestness, albeit mixed with eager anticipation.
He was very curious about what secrets might be hidden in this hidden room besides the Nightmare Light.
Angel nodded: "We should be able to."
Although Tree Spirit first suggested entering to have a look, at the crucial moment of stepping through the doorway, he became cautious again: "The Domain Field might ward off Nightmare Light, but we can’t be sure if there are other dangers in the room. We should proceed cautiously and avoid impulsiveness."
Tree Spirit’s expression was very serious. If it were anyone else, it’d be whatever, but Angel’s situation is special; as a central figure for future development, he couldn’t have any accident.
If Angel’s Domain Field range wasn’t limited and couldn’t be applied to others, Tree Spirit would opt to explore on his own.
"I understand," Angel replied gravely. The unknown is the most frightening, and until it’s confirmed that all dangers are eliminated, he won’t let his guard down.
After agreeing on the point of caution, Angel and Tree Spirit carefully stepped through the room’s doorway.
At the moment of entering, Angel not only perceived the change in Nightmare Light concentration but also sensed a strange force partitioning the room from the outside.
Perhaps this force is the reason why the Nightmare Light doesn’t worry about leaking outside the room.
After entering the room, their visibility hadn’t improved, and Nightmare Light blocked them from using spell techniques to explore the surroundings, forcing them to advance bit by bit.
After moving forward two or three steps, Angel saw the black coat rack Tree Spirit mentioned earlier.
The coat rack, resembling bare branches, was empty.
This likely indicates that the owner of the room hasn’t returned, which is good news.
They continued forward, taking about three steps, and Angel noticed that the left-hand side was still a wall, but the right-hand side opened up into a spacious area.
It seems that the layout of this room is biased toward the right side.
However, to be cautious, they did not walk toward the open right side but continued exploring along the left wall.
Soon, they discovered a large black metal panel hanging high on the left wall.
"It’s an Omnipotent Magnetic Board." Angel glanced at it and immediately identified the piece of black metal.
Magnetic boards are a special storage device traditionally used by nobility, having a strong adhesive force to metal items, often used to cling metal accessories such as necklaces, rings, and badges.
And the Omnipotent Magnetic Board is an upgraded version made by wizards, capable of attracting not only metals but all items imbued with Extraordinary Power.
Typically, when wizards explore ancient relics, discovering an Omnipotent Magnetic Board often means acquiring Extraordinary Items left on it.
Unfortunately, the Omnipotent Magnetic Board they found was empty.
"Omnipotent Magnetic Boards are usually placed near the bed, so when resting, you can conveniently attach accessories to it." Angel said, "Following this logic, the bed should be nearby."
Sure enough, they walked another two or three steps and came across a rather plain bed.
The bed was covered with a layer of fluffy silk quilt, slightly messy, but the surface was clean and looked as if the owner had just left moments ago.
It’s worth noting that there was a fist-sized black rock placed right in the center of the quilt.
Angel picked up the rock in his hand, sensing its coolness and weight.
"This is Stellar Iron." Angel estimated, "About 400 grams, and the quality seems quite good. However, there’s a slight difference from ordinary Stellar Iron, as it seems to carry some peculiar aura?"
Tree Spirit also sensed for a moment and said, "It has a similar aura to Nightmare Light, perhaps it’s an anomaly resulting from absorbing Nightmare Light over time?"
"Perhaps, but under the analysis of the Alchemy Eye, its transcendent traits haven’t changed. Uncertain what changes might occur upon usage."
While pondering, Angel stored the piece of Stellar Iron into his bracelet, awaiting further experimentation in the future.
Aside from Stellar Iron, there was nothing else found near the bed.
"I wonder why raw mineral would be placed on the bed; is it an Alchemist’s eccentricity?" Tree Spirit muttered, following Angel as they continued along the left wall.
After about ten steps, they reached the wall’s right-hand turn.
Meaning, they had finished exploring this side of the left wall.
"From the left side’s layout, it’s evident that this room isn’t large." Tree Spirit looked towards the red light surging on the right side, his brow furrowing: "And with the most significant portion representing the ’bedroom’—the bed—already present. The right-side space, according to traditional layout, likely holds furniture such as tables, chairs, or cabinets."
"But as of now, we haven’t seen any unusual parts, which is quite odd."
Angel said, "Perhaps the anomalies lie on the right side; let’s continue exploring."
Tree Spirit didn’t say more, and along with Angel, began moving towards the right space following the wall’s corner.
To be cautious, they walked slowly, and during this gradual movement, they encountered something new.
A long silverish work table.
"There’s a work table inside the bedroom; even here they conduct experimental research?" Tree Spirit glanced at the table, somewhat surprised.
Angel touched the work table, analyzing it through the Alchemy Eye.
"Currently, the universal work tables used in the Southern Domain Wizard World mostly originate from the Sky Mechanical City. But this work table lacks the city’s distinctive mark." As Angel spoke, he touched a button, eliciting an integrated function platform to rise, "The mechanical design is somewhat old, reminiscent of those crafted two or three thousand years ago."
Tree Spirit: "Well, it certainly fits the era of the relic creator."
Angel: "It should be used by the relic creator; based on the wear marks on the work table, its usage is frequent. Unfortunately, the table both inside and out is quite clean."
Angel paused, walking towards the back of the work table: "This work table doesn’t have an integrated recording function. Ordinarily, there’s a convenient spot nearby for recording, be it a stone platform or a desk..."
As Angel murmured, he noticed behind the work table, emerging through the red light, a high chair and... a wide desk piled with numerous parchment sheets and pages of books.
