Chapter 298 ~ Xenovia’s Wish

Chapter 298 ~ Xenovia’s Wish

Ophis had finally made herself at home within Yuuji’s [King’s Treasury]. She decided to stay there when Yuuji was away from the estate, and come out to be with him and the others while he was home.

Thanks to Albedo’s meticulous organization and the reach of Linked Horizon’s elite network, they had acquired only the most luxurious, high-end furnishings for Ophis—everything from intricately carved furniture to rare, enchanted amenities now adorned the private dimension. The space had transformed into a sanctuary of wealth and comfort worthy of a deity.

Naturally, Yuuji and Albedo insisted on performing “quality control,” especially on the centerpiece of the room: a custom, double king-sized bed of divine silk and phoenix-feather-stuffed pillows. Suffice it to say, it passed their testing with flying colors—while Ophis had been happily distracted playing with Aika and the slimes in the estate garden.

With Yuuji’s expert-level cleaning magic, not even the all-seeing Ophis could detect a trace of the activities that had transpired there prior to her return.

Aika, of course, wasn’t so easily fooled.

The moment she saw Albedo clinging tightly to Yuuji’s arm—her cheeks flushed and eyes sparkling like a girl in the throes of first love—Aika’s brow arched, and an impish smirk tugged at her lips.

The next day, just after classes ended, Yuuji was gathering his things when he noticed a familiar silver-haired girl walking toward him. Her face, as always, was unreadable—but her purposeful steps gave away her intent.

“Koneko?” Yuuji called out gently.

She stopped in front of him and raised a small hand, lightly grasping his sleeve. Her golden eyes looked up into his.

“...Come. There’s someone who wants to meet you.”

He tilted his head. “Alright.”

Erika, curious, stepped closer. “Mind if I come along?”

Koneko nodded without hesitation.

Yuuji turned to Tatsuya, who was just finishing a conversation with a teacher near the window. “I’ll head out for a bit.”

Tatsuya gave a simple nod. “I’ll go home first.”

As Yuuji and Erika followed Koneko through the school corridors, they encountered another pair ahead—Akeno and Aika, walking together and chatting animatedly. Their laughter was soft and melodic, catching the attention of nearly every male student they passed.

Now a group of five, they made their way through the old building until they reached the Occult Research Club room.

When Yuuji opened the door, he immediately noticed the change in atmosphere.

Inside, seated calmly beside a shy-looking Asia, was Xenovia.

Rias stood in front of her desk, arms crossed as she observed the room.

Yuuji’s senses reached out, instinctively scanning for the presence of Issei or Kiba—but neither were anywhere on campus. They had likely departed to fulfill their contracts.

Koneko took a seat beside Xenovia, while Akeno silently moved to the tea corner to prepare drinks for everyone.

Yuuji’s gaze finally settled on Xenovia. She was staring at him—not with hostility, but with something closer to awe.

He returned a soft smile and nodded, moving to the couch directly opposite her. Erika and Aika followed suit, each sitting beside him naturally, their presence both casual and subtly protective.

“I assume you’re the one who requested this meeting?” Yuuji asked gently.

Xenovia gave a small nod.

Now that he was close, he noticed subtle signs of wear: faint shadows under her eyes, a slight pallor to her usually radiant skin. Though no visible wounds remained, it was clear she had been through a difficult time.

Yuuji raised his hand calmly.

[Holy Aura I: Comfort.]

A gentle golden radiance shimmered around him, expanding like a warm, invisible breeze. It touched everyone in the room—soothing aching muscles, clearing fatigue, and softening mental strain.

Xenovia blinked and looked down at her hand, clenching and unclenching her fingers in amazement. The tension in her shoulders visibly loosened as she turned her eyes to him with genuine wonder.

“Thank you…” she whispered.

Yuuji smiled, his tone kind. “So—what is it you wished to tell me?”

What followed was an explanation laced with pain and quiet strength. Xenovia spoke of her exile from the Church, how she had chosen not to tell Irina, not wanting to burden her with the truth just yet.

Yuuji’s brow creased in quiet regret. His mind drifted momentarily—this mirrored the path her story had taken in the original timeline.

“I see… that’s unfortunate,” he said with a sigh. “So then… what are your plans now? Do you have a place to stay?”

Perhaps she had come to tell him she would be joining Rias’s peerage. If so, he wasn’t worried—Rias would ensure her well-being.

But Xenovia’s next words shattered every assumption.

Her gaze locked onto his, steady and unflinching. Her voice rang clear and certain:

“I want to bear your offspring.”

The silence that followed was so absolute, it was as if the entire world had frozen.

Even the air seemed to pause.

Aika’s eyes widened. Erika stared frozen with her lips agape. Akeno, who had just poured the tea, blinked in shock as liquid overflowed onto the tray.

Only Koneko remained somewhat composed, blinking slowly.

But Xenovia… she was serious.

Her expression was resolute, her tone unwavering. No embarrassment, no hesitation. It was the declaration of a knight who had already made her decision, consequences be damned.

Yuuji stared, stunned into silence.

“...What?”

Xenovia’s gaze did not waver. Her blue eyes shimmered—not with hesitation, but with unwavering conviction.

“I want to bear your offspring,” she repeated—her voice unwavering, her eyes alight with calm, resolute certainty.

Yuuji blinked slowly, still absorbing the sheer weight of Xenovia’s declaration. For someone long accustomed to the bizarre and unexpected, this... this was bold, even by his standards.

Aika blinked once. Then twice. And then, a devilish grin bloomed across her lips. “Oh my,” she cooed, eyes gleaming with mischief. “Fufufu~ I wasn’t expecting that today… but honestly, that’s a wonderful idea~!”

“Wait—Wait just a second!” Rias’s voice rose, nearly cracking. “W-What in Satan’s name is happening right now?!”

With a loud slam, Rias stood upright, her palms pressing against the polished table behind her. A faint, rosy flush dusted her cheeks, though whether it was from embarrassment or frustration, even she wasn’t certain.

“X-Xenovia-san?! Are you serious?!”

“...”

Asia and Koneko sat frozen, mouths slightly parted, their expressions stricken with quiet disbelief. Xenovia glanced at them, tilting her head with mild confusion.

“Is this truly that surprising?” she asked matter-of-factly. “Isn’t it natural for a female to desire a child from a strong, capable male?”

“W-What kind of outdated thinking is that?!” Rias sputtered. “You’re not even an ancient devil! Why are you talking like some prehistoric matron?!”

But to Rias’s growing exasperation, Xenovia shook her head gently, her expression softening.

“It’s not just instinct or strength I’m responding to,” she replied.

Then, she turned toward Yuuji once more. Her expression remained composed, but the subtle blush on her cheeks and the tremble in her gaze betrayed the shy, uncertain maiden within.

“I’ve seen your courage… your strength… and your kindness. You risked your life to save all of us on that battlefield. You asked for nothing in return. Not praise. Not recognition. Not even gratitude.”

She took a breath, her voice trembling with sincerity.

“Such nobility… such quiet strength… moved me. I admire you, Yuuji. Deeply. And—yes—I’ve come to adore you.”

The room fell into stillness.

Rias stood motionless, stunned by the depth of Xenovia’s feelings. Because the truth was… she felt exactly the same.

Yuuji had freed her from the cruel fate of becoming some lecherous noble’s bride. He had helped her grow stronger—helped her claim her own freedom and dignity. He had supported her unconditionally, asking for nothing in return.

He saved me too, Rias thought.

And she wasn’t alone in that sentiment. Her gaze drifted instinctively to Akeno. For the briefest moment, their eyes met—and in that moment, Rias saw the unmistakable flicker of envy and panic in Akeno’s expression… a reflection of her own turmoil.

But before she could speak, Aika stepped forward with a singsong voice.

“Wonderful~ Ufufufu~ Xenovia-chan, you’ve finally seen what makes our hubby so amazing~”

Xenovia nodded solemnly, her blue eyes filled with firm resolve. Aika smiled, seemingly pleased by her conviction.

“But you do realize…” Aika’s tone shifted slightly, playful but serious. “Hubby already has a lot of girls. Are you sure you’re okay becoming one of them~?”

“I don’t mind,” Xenovia said immediately, without hesitation.

“The fact that he’s loved by so many powerful, beautiful women only proves his greatness. I would be honored to be one among them.”

Aika gave an approving nod, while Erika arched a brow at Xenovia like she had grown a second head. Though Erika herself had long accepted Yuuji’s many lovers, she couldn’t help but be surprised by just how fast Xenovia had embraced the idea.

“Lovely~ But…” Aika sang, drawing out the word with a teasing lilt, “there’s still one more problem~”

Xenovia frowned, lips tightening.

“...What is it?” A hint of worry crept into her voice.

“To carry hubby’s child, you’ll need to become stronger~ Not just spiritually, but physically too~ Your body needs to be able to handle him.”

“I see.”

A quiet breath escaped Xenovia’s lips, one of relief. That much, she could work toward. In truth, she had long suspected Yuuji wasn’t human—not entirely. His power exceeded even the highest of devils and angels. A being like him… could very well be a god in disguise. To bear the child of such a being, she needed to rise beyond her limits.

“Then…” she said slowly, “would becoming a devil help? Would that make me… compatible?”

Aika tapped her cheek thoughtfully, as if weighing the idea. “Mmm… becoming a devil could help, yes. But if you really want to go all the way—and I mean really become compatible with hubby—you should consider becoming a succubus. Like me~”

Xenovia blinked. “A succubus…?”

Aika nodded with a wicked smile. “Mhmm~!”

The word lingered in Xenovia’s mind. She glanced between Aika and Yuuji, her brow furrowed with contemplation. “What exactly are you, Yuuji?” she asked quietly.

In response, Yuuji slowly unfurled his wings.

A radiant light and abyssal shadow blossomed from his back. One wing shimmered with divine white-gold light, radiant and serene. The other pulsed with shadowy black-crimson feathers, exuding infernal heat and overwhelming power. The contrast was stark—yet the two wings coexisted in perfect harmony.

A collective gasp echoed through the room.

“It’s… complicated,” Yuuji said with a calm expression. “I carry the blood of both heaven and hell. But more than that... I am a Descendant of First Light.”

Xenovia’s breath hitched. The phrase rang with myth and ancient power. She didn’t know what it meant exactly, but she felt its weight deep in her soul.

After a pause, she turned to Aika again, her voice soft, almost pleading. “Have you ever had complications… being with him? Can you carry his child?”

Aika blinked, then giggled as she looped her arm through Yuuji’s. “Complications?” she echoed with a grin. “None at all~ Being a succubus, I’m naturally attuned to him. I can carry his child whenever I want.”

She leaned closer, whispering like she was revealing a delicious secret. “Being with hubby slowly nourishes your body and soul. But~ if you really want to be fully compatible—super strong, super fertile, and super fun~—then becoming a succubus is the fast track~!”

Xenovia grew quiet again, her hands curling gently into fists at her side. She didn’t look afraid anymore. Only thoughtful. Focused.

Then, at last, she lifted her head and spoke with conviction.

“Then… I want to become a succubus.”

Rias sat behind her desk, deep in thought. The atmosphere in the room was heavy, silent. By her side, Akeno stood quietly, her expression equally contemplative.

Asia and Koneko had already returned to their dorms. Xenovia had left earlier with Yuuji, Aika, and Erika. Yet despite their absence, the weight of that earlier conversation lingered—echoing in the minds of the two women like a haunting refrain… or perhaps a teasing whisper.

Rias eventually turned to Akeno, her voice soft.

“What are you thinking about?”

Akeno looked at her, pausing for a moment before offering a knowing, sultry smile. A faint blush colored her cheeks.

“Fufufu~ I think you already know, Rias. After hearing all of that… surely, you’ve been thinking the same thing.”

Rias’s own cheeks flushed slightly as she quickly looked away, crossing her arms. Her voluptuous chest pressed tightly against her forearms as she shifted in her seat—more flustered than she wanted to admit.

In her mind’s eye, he appeared.

His face… his voice… all the memories they had shared. Everything he had done for her, the quiet strength, the kindness. And more than that, the possibilities… what could be—what might become.

Her heart began to pound, a quickening rhythm that echoed in her chest.

But she shook her head, physically as if to clear the thoughts.

“I-I don’t understand what you’re talking about! A-Anyway, we have a lot to prepare for this week,” she said quickly, trying to sound composed.

“Especially with my brother and the leaders of the other two factions arriving soon.”

“Ufufufu~ Alright~”

Even as she said it, her voice trembled faintly with something she couldn’t quite hide.

Longing. Hope. And a bit of anxiety… that he might not have any more room in his heart for her if she continued to dawdle.
