Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 224: Mob Attack and Twist

Chapter 224: Mob Attack and Twist

As the moon hovered in the sky, casting a mystic glow over the supernatural city that lay below, a mob had begun to form.

This mob gathered in the middle of the city, where they prepared to march north to where the affluent and rich nobles lived.

This group numbered in the hundreds. They were people who were tired of holding their breath and bowing their heads.

Tonight, they would unleash the anger they had been holding back for so long.

At the head of the group was a woman with three orange-furred tails dancing behind her. She led the march and had become a symbol of hope for these people.

Further away, a group of vampires watched the march with eyes that glowed as red as blood. Most of these people were noble vampires.

The one who stood out the most in the group was a man called Luiz Salvatore.

He was easily the most powerful noble vampire among the group gathered.

"Look at them," he sneered as he stared down at the mob gathering below them.

"I still don’t get why we have to be the ones to do the dirty work. Normal vampires would be enough to handle the job easily," another noble vampire said with a disgruntled expression.

Luiz turned to him and looked frankly annoyed. A part of him wanted to decapitate the vampire for speaking out of turn, but he managed to hold himself back.

"We are doing this simply because the Veylmont clan asked us to," he said, but the noble vampire still looked a little displeased, and he could sense the others agreeing with him.

Seeing this, he couldn’t help but heave a sigh.

’Noble vampires are the most arrogant of all. There are too many of us ruling over this city. Too much for me to remember. I don’t even know who this one is.’

Luiz approached the noble vampire and rested his hands on his shoulders while trying to put on a convincing smile.

"The people of this city stepped out of line. As leaders, it’s our job to get them back in line by making an example."

Hearing this explanation, the other noble vampires’ expressions began to change.

"Besides, which one of us is brave enough to go against the Veylmont clan or the Dracule clan?"

All 47 noble vampires present stayed quiet. None of them dared to speak. None of them had the guts to face either clan or go against their wishes.

Their titles were merely decoration. When faced against the Dracule clan or the Veylmont clan, they were no better than the civilians rebelling right now.

With everyone now seemingly convinced, Luiz returned his attention back to the mob.

If he had to guess, there were at least 500 gathered.

"On the bright side, it looks like we’ll be feasting well tonight," he smiled, and his eyes held a strange glimmer.

He could hardly remember the last time he had gone on a killing spree.

He could feel his body heating up just from the thought. He couldn’t hold back anymore.

Without wasting another second, he signaled the attack. All the noble vampires’ eyes glowed blood red, and all their suppressed bloodlust burst out at once.

Their potential killing intent wrapped around the mob, stopping them in their tracks. They could feel the threat of death, even in the state of anger they were in.

"Do you feel that?"

"Something powerful is coming."

A wave of chatter erupted through the mob.

"Stay focused and be on your guard," the kitsune said, taking the front line.

She stood protectively in front of the group, her eyes scanning the buildings and surroundings. Her tails fluttered in the air behind her.

The mob consisted of creatures that weren’t strong enough on their own, but together they were a force to be reckoned with.

Where they stood was in the middle of the street, surrounded by tall buildings. The cold night air stuck to their skin as the beautiful full moon hovered in the sky above, bathing them in its beautiful silver light.

For a moment, it felt as if the whole world went quiet. They held onto their pitchforks, shovels, and whatever weapons they could find.

One minute the street was empty, but in the next, they were surrounded. Vampires created a circle around them. It was a swish in the wind, and then they were there as if they teleported.

Their distinctive blood-red eyes were that of a predator waiting to kill. The mob felt a slight fear, but they had made up their minds to fight back.

They stood their ground with conviction, making sure to not show any fear, for they knew that was what creatures like vampires fed on.

"This is quite the force you’ve gathered," Luiz chuckled as his sharp eyes stared at the kitsune.

She too was staring at him. His body was half-lowered to the ground so he could attack or defend at any moment.

"You’re Luiz of the Salvatore clan. During the war, you froze a large portion of the city. You run half the businesses in this city. I’ve heard horror stories of how you exploit the people under you. You work them till death, and when they die, you just find replacements like nothing happened."

Luiz’s smile widened.

"So you’ve heard of me. I’m honored."

At that moment, all he could think about was what a kitsune’s blood would taste like. He had always wanted to try it but never got the excuse to do so. This rebellion was working out in his favor.

"After so many years, we’re finally here to fight back," she shouted with conviction, and the mob cheered behind her.

They were ready to fight. Determination burned in their hearts, but as the leader, it was up to the kitsune to make the first move.

She stared at the vampire with murderous intent. Her calves tightened, and with a burst of power, she appeared to his right, her claws ready to rip his head from his shoulders, but suddenly his head began to turn to meet her gaze, his grin never leaving his face.

She watched his eyes track her movements as if her speed was nothing. He didn’t even react to her claws aimed to take his life.

This caused a slight shiver to climb up her spine, but with everyone watching and the weight of their expectations pressing down on her, she couldn’t turn back now.

She steeled herself and twisted her body, putting every ounce of force she could summon into the swing.

Her movements were fast and fluid. It looked as if a line was drawn in the air as her claws traced their way to Luiz’s neck, but all that was stopped when Luiz stretched out his hand and grabbed her by the neck.

He moved so fast that she could just barely recognize his movements. The kitsune struggled under his grasp, but the vampire was just too strong for her to fend off.

At the same time, the vampires attacked the mob.

"I forgot how weak your kind is at this stage. The last kitsune I saw had six tails. If I had to compare its strength, I would say it was as strong as the Veylmont clan leader and the Dracule clan leader, but you... You’re too weak to be doing all this. All you should’ve done was wait a few more centuries until you were strong enough. Such a pity," Luiz said, but his eyes held no remorse.

At the same time, the noble vampires attacked the mob. A chaotic battle ensued thereafter. No, it couldn’t even be considered a battle. It was a one-sided slaughter.

The mob didn’t even stand a chance. The noble vampires showed them how they managed to remain at the top of the city for so long.

The noble vampires moved so fast that it looked as if they were blinking in and out of reality with every movement.

With their strength, all it took was a single swing for them to rip off limbs. The streets were bathed in blood as the noble vampires went about their slaughter, the scent sticking to the night air.

They ripped through flesh as easily as tearing paper. The broken bones were as easy as snapping a twig. The screams that echoed grew twisted.

Seeing this, some of them tried to run, but they didn’t get very far before they were hunted down and killed.

The kitsune was forced to watch this gruesome scene all while being strangled by Luiz.

Seeing the people whom she gathered to fight alongside her killed, she couldn’t help but feel guilty, but she was powerless to stop it.

She couldn’t even fight against the vampire in front of her.

It was at that moment she realized that she greatly underestimated their power, but by then it was far too late.

Luiz’s grip tightened. He himself didn’t participate in the slaughter. He was too fascinated by the kitsune, looking at her like a rare pet.

Soon, all that was left was bodies.

You should’ve known better than to go against us. It was a foolish choice."

Luiz knew that this wasn’t the sole work of the kitsune. Someone else set this into motion. He was guessing it was that werewolf.

’Such a simple creature. No wonder their kind almost died out all those years ago. He really thought that these pitiful creatures would be strong enough to face us.’

Luiz couldn’t help but see the werewolf that organized all of this as an idiot. Even a fool would know this wouldn’t work.

Grr!!

Just as that thought crossed his mind, he heard a loud growl, and soon the creatures they just killed began to stir. The dead began to stir around that. The scene was straight out of a scifi. The noble vampires took a step back, wondering what the hell was happening .

Luiz’s eyes widened.

These creatures that rose had black eyes and red irises. He remembered hearing a story about these things. It was some strange ability of the wolf. His spies didn’t tell him much only that the wolf had some strange ability to turn people into ghouls.

It was like an infection that was spread from his scratch.

"Ghouls," he chuckled.

Though it was a bit surprising, it was nothing to worry about it in the slightest.. All they had to do was kill the ghouls and make sure they weren’t scratched, and from what he heard, these creatures weren’t all that powerful.

But his hope soon shattered as the noble vampires began coughing up blood and collapsed to the ground in agony.

’What is happening?! How could they have gotten infected?’ His mind raced as he tried to figure out what was happening, but then the realization dawned on him when he remembered the gruesome scene that just took place.

"The mob... It was their blood!"
