Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 267: The Battle Continues

Chapter 267: The Battle Continues

Sköll’s bright red flames engulfed both me and the lich, but for me, it was as if I was being surrounded by air. The red flames danced cross my skin, but I felt nothing. Not even my clothes were burned.

The only person who was affected was the lich I held in place. He screamed and thrashed and called out "mom" a few times, but in the end, he was burned until only ashes remained.

[You have slain a level 30 lich!]

The notification that popped up after I killed the lich was proof that he was really dead. Even though I couldn’t get him to tell me why he told Mariah about Damian’s weakness, I was still happy that I managed to get rid of him.

The next issue at hand was Damian. He was killing too many ghouls and Valkyries for me to ignore. I couldn’t face him one on one, and honestly, I was lucky that he wasn’t coming after me, but still, I needed to do something about him.

Just as I pondered what to do, Sköll and Hati came up to me. Seeing this, I smiled and petted them both behind the ear.

"The two of you did good. Don’t worry about what happened earlier with Damian," I said, comforting them.

At this level, asking them to stand up against Damian was a tall task which was why they froze when they felt Damian’s bloodlust. They weren’t nearly as experienced to handle someone like him, but yet together they were able to give me aid.

Sköll rolled and wagged his tail excitedly. One look, and you could tell that he was clearly enjoying being petted. Hati, on the other hand, only showed that she didn’t hate being petted with the slight wagging of her tail.

...

Selthia’s breath hitched as she watched a strange-looking man with a malformed body, spiky black hair, and pale yellow eyes. She watched as he killed the mindless creatures around him within a blink of an eye.

"Damian Dracule," she whispered to herself as she ducked behind cover.

Her mind was racing. She realized how much danger she was in, but she also realized just how troublesome the situation was for Liam. Damian was easily wiping out the ghouls and the valkyries. In no time he could wipe them all out.

Around him was a sea of corpses that had either gotten their heads smashed or chests caved in with a single blow.

’I have to do something,’ she thought.

She wanted to find a way to distract him, but that was dangerous. Not just for her, since if she was put in a position where she needed to be rescued, it would spell trouble for everyone.

She needed to act quickly and carefully, but just as those thoughts crossed her mind, a figure appeared above her.

...

As time passed, I could see more people gathering to fight against the ghouls and Valkyries. Particularly, there were a lot of wights present. The wights were undead creatures resurrected by the lich, but after his death, they were still roaming around, protecting the city.

They had pale blue skin and blue soulless eyes. They were similar to the lesser ghouls, only where the ghouls were programmed to consume flesh, the wights were programmed to protect the city.

Both the ghouls and the Valkyries were under immense pressure from the banded forces of the wights and the other races. I could see them pushed back.

This was shaping up too much like a war. I wanted a one-sided slaughter. I could see an angry mob of them approaching from the opposite street. I didn’t help them in their struggle. I didn’t need to, as reinforcements arrived in a matter of seconds. The first to arrive were the vampires led by Léa.

Her arrival was signaled by an explosive torrent of flame that washed over the entire street, melting the road, street lamps, and even the vehicles occupying the street. In an instant, the mob was incinerated.

I watched in amazement. Her firepower was far stronger than Sköll’s, but I could tell it was weaker than Khalissi’s. Though she would get stronger after she evolved and unlocked the bloodline responsible for her flame ability. I wonder if it was the same as mine. Though I doubted it.

My flame ability only granted me thermal vision and the ability to manipulate heat. Whatever bloodline I would unlock would be weaker than Léa’s. Yet still, it didn’t matter. My interest in my bloodline mostly stemmed from curiosity about myself.

Whether I unlocked a powerful bloodline or not, what I was mostly looking forward to was the ability to level up easily again. Unlocking a bloodline was just a nice addition to this, since I wasn’t expecting much considering just how weak my fire ability was.

Or maybe I’ll unlock the ability that allowed me to summon my shadow hounds. Khalissi told me that only demons were capable of summoning a legion, so I half expected a demonic bloodline.

But how would that even be possible? How could a werewolf possess a demonic bloodline?

As soon as the vampires showed up, the ghouls and the Valkyries gained a huge advantage.

Léa overwhelmed them with her strength. The way she used her flames seemed more versatile than what I saw from Sköll and even Khalissi.

Kicking her feet, she created a slash attack that sliced her enemies in half, and when she punched at the air, she created a ball of flame that exploded upon impact with its targets. It was surprising since when others used their flame abilities, they mostly created explosions and simply used the heat from the flame to defeat their target.

I’m guessing different flame bloodlines allowed for different attack styles. Just as I observed the combat taking place below me, I noticed something off in the distance. What I saw looked eerily familiar. It reminded me of when I fought against Mariah.

Could this be her doing?

Looking up over the tall buildings, what I saw was a dome, made completely of darkness.
