Chapter 273: The Final Through

Looking at the giant shadow, I immediately knew it was an object of Mariah’s creation, which meant she was somewhere close. Right now, the best option I had was to find her and get her to remove the dome.

Without wanting to waste any more time, we rushed off towards where the battle was taking place.

It wasn’t just us; it seemed like a lot of ghouls and lizard men had been drawn in by the sudden commotion. The giant shadow was wrecking everything in sight in an effort to get to Damian, but I felt as if it was a pointless struggle.

Even with its size, it clearly wasn’t a match. With a single blow, Damian knocked the colossal shadow off its feet, sending it crashing into the buildings below, crumbling them into dust. But even after the monster had fallen, Damian didn’t relent.

He passed through the sky and crashed down on the monster’s chest, leaving a gaping hole in its wake. The entire city felt as the ground shook from the impact. Even some of the buildings around the vicinity of the attack began to collapse due to the sheer force.

Selthia and Sylvie’s faces had turned deadly pale. It wasn’t because of the attack, since they couldn’t see it; it was because of the bloodlust that was released when Damian struck the giant shadow.

It was only for a second, but it was enough to show us the calamity of the situation. Even I felt it, and for a moment I questioned going up against such a monster. But that thought only lasted for a second.

"Let’s go," I said to the others, pulling them forward.

I had to find Mariah before things took a turn for the worse, and there was a high possibility that Isabella and Kumo were close. Just like us, they might head towards the sound of the commotion.

"Darling, I think it’s dangerous to get this close. It’s best we wait until you evolve or until we get reinforcement from our pack. We can’t handle this," Selthia sputtered out something as we ran. Her voice sounded as if it was trembling, but I didn’t hear a word she said.

My eyes were glued on something else.

There was a heat signature inside the shadow. It looked like someone was inside the colossal shadow. Seeing this, I didn’t waste a second before rushing forward.

That heat signature had to be Mariah! I was certain of it.

Damian pulled the person from the shadow and held them up by the throat.

At the same time, I released my bloodlust, aiming to draw his attention, but it was to no avail. He didn’t even glance in my direction, even though I knew he felt my pressure.

"I won’t make it in time," I thought as I thrust myself into the air and propelled myself onto the building on my right.

Most of the buildings in the area were wrecked, making it difficult to traverse. But still, I used my high agility to propel myself from one surface to the next.

As I approached them, I noticed that someone was also doing the same, except they were much closer to reaching them than me. Seeing this, Damian hesitated and turned his attention to them.

I knew immediately that it must’ve been either Isabella or Kumo or Khalissi. Based on the way they moved, I had a hunch as to who it might be.

What is she doing? She is going to get herself killed!

I increased my moving speed, moving through the rubble as fast as I could go, yet still, it wasn’t fast enough.

The person Damian was holding up by the throat kicked and thrashed, but it was to no avail.

The person running towards Damian leaped into the air, and at that moment it felt as if time itself had frozen. I watched as they leaped right into the path of Damian, and at that moment all I expected to see was death, but it turned out far differently from how I expected it to.
