Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 284: Supernova

Chapter 284: Supernova

Khalissi flew over the city taking in the sight in front of her eyes. Watching the chaos take place below her, she felt glad.

Now that they had reinforcements, things were progressing smoothly. The pack fought non-stop, night and day, to achieve their goal.

"Umm... when are we getting there?"

Suddenly, a soft, sweet voice entered her ear. Around Khalissi’s waist, a well-endowed girl with luscious white hair was holding on for dear life as Khalissi soared through the sky.

Looking down at the girl, Khalissi couldn’t help but heave a sigh and say:

"You should’ve stayed back with Sylvie and the others."

The girl shook her head vigorously.

"I want to see my brother. It has been so long."

Khalissi said nothing in response, and eventually, her eyes drifted down to the city below.

There she saw a giant white wolf tearing through the city, slaughtering everything in its path.

Seeing this, Allison frowned.

"Little brother Derrick is always so vicious."

"He can turn into a wolf like our alpha?" Khalissi asked, which caused a warm smile to appear on Allison’s face as she nodded her head.

"Yes. Our brother Derrick has already found his fated mate and is already married."

"Really?" Khalissi had no interest in this and was just making conversation. "Is it someone a part of our pack?"

"I uhh... A lot has happened since you guys have been gone. We should discuss it later," Allison chuckled awkwardly and scratched her cheek.

Khalissi found her response suspicious, but she decided not to pry. She also noticed Allison was squinting her eyes and her hands were trembling slightly.

’If you’re that scared of heights then why did you come in the first place?’ Khalissi thought in annoyance.

Soon, they arrived at an area of the city that was a complete wreckage. It seemed as if the entire city moved around this area.

No living creature dares get close to this area and immediately as they stepped into this area, they could feel a change.

For one, it felt as if the air pressure had dropped. Also, there was the matter of the heat in this area.

Their skins were burning and had turned red, and their breaths became labored.

"Why does it feel as if we have just stepped into a furnace? Where is all this heat coming from?" Allison asked as she wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead.

"My wings are burning," Khalissi said simply. "We can’t stay here long."

"But my brother..."

"We can’t do anything to help him. We’ll just get in his way if Damian sees us and decides to target us."

The area was mostly quiet. They could’ve heard a pin drop from the sky until suddenly, a loud explosion ripped through the air, killing the silence.

Khalissi acted quickly and searched for cloud cover so they weren’t seen.

From behind the clouds, they watched the area intently until soon, two figures emerged.

One of the figures was surrounded by a spiraling mass of orange energy. They also realized that the heat they were feeling was emanating from this figure.

This person’s skin was also glowing orange, almost like heated steel.

"Brother Liam!" Allison shouted in surprise, but Khalissi quickly covered her mouth.

Allison learned her lesson and glanced back at Khalissi to tell her she could remove her hand, and that’s when she saw it.

Khalissi’s pupils were dilated. They shrunk to the point of a needle. She could even feel Khalissi’s body go cold.

Allison quickly pulled Khalissi’s hand from her mouth and asked:

"What is it?"

"I know this," Khalissi’s voice trembled in fear. "This is... he’s going supernova."

"Supernova?" Allison asked. She was even more confused.

Being a former university student, Allison knew that supernova is the process where a star explodes.

The energy released from such an explosion could outshine a galaxy of hundreds of billions of stars.

What does one of the biggest explosions in the universe have to do with her brother?

Khalissi took a breath before answering.

"Supernova is the name of the explosion certain types of dragons undergo whenever they over-exert themselves. This is usually a rare phenomenon since there is almost nothing that could push a dragon to its limit. But whenever it does happen, the impact is catastrophic."

Hearing that explanation, Allison was almost speechless.

"Does that mean my brother will... and if he does, will he die because of it?"

Allison dreaded, the thought. She almost wanted to throw herself into the burning furnace down below.

Khalissi shook her head.

"Your brother doesn’t have nearly enough magical energy to create that much damage since he hasn’t evolved yet. And usually, during this process, the dragons don’t die. I don’t know the reason for it, but I remember it happened when Lucifer defeated Conquest. Before it happened, Lucifer had to travel across galaxies with Conquest so the impact wouldn’t affect us."

Allison felt relieved that her brother wouldn’t die in the process. But she couldn’t help but ask,

"What about the city? If he does go supernova, will it kill everyone here?"

Khalissi shook her head once again.

"I’m not sure. It’s a risk. But what I’m actually worried about is if he evolves before going supernova."

She could see they were in a predicament. Looking at the fight happening down below, she could tell that Liam couldn’t hold on much longer. His strength was failing.

He needed to evolve. But on the other hand, if he did evolve, it would put everyone at risk.

They were between a rock and a hard place. Liam was too far along to go back, so the only way out of this was if he went supernova before he evolved.

Only then could they mitigate the risk. But if they stall his evolution for too long, he could end up being killed by Damian.

The other option was if they could find a way to communicate with him. If they did that, then maybe he could lessen the impact of the explosion.

"What will we do?" Allison asked.

Khalissi sighed.

"There is nothing we can do. We just have to continue our takeover of the city so he can evolve."

Khalissi knew the only way out of this was luck. Only if they were lucky would things go their way.

...

Down below, as the battle between Damian and Liam raged on, Liam’s eyes drifted to a single lonely cloud floating in the sky.

He only looked at it for a second before his gaze went back to Damian.
