Chapter 834: Thieving Consequences
Chapter 834: Thieving Consequences
I undid the lock on the door and they slid open under my command, only to reveal that the thieves had torn up the room and used the furniture as a barricade to block the doorway.
So much for preserving the ship...
Damn... I might need to replace the furniture at this point then... At least the stove was untouched I suppose... Because that would be difficult to replace.
I stared at the improvised barricade placed behind the door and peeked through the gaps to look at the thieves hiding behind it.
One of them even had the gall to shout at me, "You’re not allowed to come in here!! This is a private space!!"
What the fuck is this guy even talking about?
Did whoever shouted that try to claim that the bedroom is off limits to me because they’re occupying it or something?
That doesn’t even make any sense.
That’s why I just went ahead to kick down the furniture blocking the doorway and the moment I did so, a gunshot rang out from in front of me.
My shield immediately materialised in front of me, absorbing the impact from the bullet that would have struck me in the chest had it not activated, ignoring the fact that Renata would have intercepted it anyway.
I narrowed my eyes at the shooter, the guy still dressed in a lab coat and holding the smoking gun with shaking hands as though he hadn’t expected it to shoot at all.
I took another step forward and it seems like the threat of me coming over towards them was bigger than the fear of killing someone as the guy lifted his gun again to fire a few more shots.
My shield completely blocked it without breaking so I simply walked up to him as casually as possible, not even worried about being shot at.
The gun eventually ran out of bullets which was made known by a loud clicking noise from the weapon, the guy stupidly looking down the barrel and pulling it a few more times as though thinking there was something stuck in it.
I walked right up to him and delivered a blow across his face with my elbow, intentionally using some of my Psionic force to strengthen the blow and sending him flying towards the wall.
Not done yet, I pointed my shotgun at him and pulled the trigger, blowing off his right leg just below the knee.
I guy screamed in pain and I went ahead to pull the trigger one more time, blasting off his right arm as well.
Ironic that this guy ended up with almost the same fate as the guy outside though we had to ’plant’ the gun for that guy while this guy didn’t need that.
I then turned to look at the others who had been huddled behind the group and I was surprised to see someone I knew standing in front of them.
"Anthony? Really?" I cried out, frowning at the boyfriend of Theresa and my fellow test pilot. "I thought better of you... Please tell me you’re not the mastermind of this."
He furrowed his brows at me, clearly not happy to see me but he kept his mouth shut, refusing to even talk to me.
Actually, now that I look closely, I think there were also a few of them who were also test pilots too.
Guess they were either also fanatics of the ship or they just wanted to do something to screw with me.
The other thieves, which I counted to be twelve of them in total excluding the guy outside and the one I just elbowed away, were looking less sure of their situation.
But seriously though, fifteen people really agreed to this stupid plan to steal my ship only to mess the entire ship up...
I let out a sigh before nodding towards the group, "So whose stupid idea was this?"
None of them responded.
Figured that they wouldn’t admit it.
Then again, these guys just watched me blast off the leg and arm of their colleague so they probably think I would do something worse to the person that was the leader of this group. That is... Assuming that the leader wasn’t one of the two people I already brutalised, that is...
Since I’ve recaptured the ship now, it was time to start the next phase of the plan... Namely, to demand compensation from the company for this.
That was the main point of allowing this to happen to begin with, after all.
I went to the cockpit while Yumiko, Amber and Lea watched over the thieves and the others went back to the Iridescence.
Thankfully, the cockpit wasn’t damaged that much aside from some marks that definitely came from someone banging against the console.
"Renata... Who was flying the ship?" I asked, frowning at the markings.
Renata’s response was to bring up a screen to show me a recording of the cockpit, revealing that it was Anthony himself that had occupied the pilot seat.
He was also shown slamming his fists all over the console when the ship shut down and I only just realised he broke one side of the console because of that.
Tsk... I’m really hoping that this will be worth it.
The hangar bay doors slid open and I proceeded to detach the Verlandi from the Iridescence, turning the ship around to fly back towards the station’s hangar bay.
As I approached the landing pad, I found the place quite packed with people and they threw up their hands in celebration when they saw my ship appear at the hangar doors.
I skillfully manoeuvred the ship down onto the landing pad before shutting the engines off, this time locking the controls and the cockpit properly before leaving.
When I stepped outside, I found the thieves all standing still obediently and huddled in a group, though I noted that three of them sported bruises and welts that were definitely not there before.
Judging by the smug looks on my girls’ faces, I’m going to assume that those three tried to attack them and ended up getting their asses handed to them instead.
Without a word, I led the way towards the boarding ramp and my girls made sure the thieves followed behind me as they shoved them forward. The two thieves that had their legs blasted off had to be carried out by their comrades, needing to limp along on their one good leg.
They were at least not in danger of dying since Mara did patch them up to ensure they did not bleed out but did nothing more than that.
I descended the ramp and I was quite surprised to see not only Theresa but also Freiderike and Rosalia standing right in front of the ramp.
Theresa immediately stepped towards me, "Miss Tera!! I am so terribly sorry for this!! Words cannot describe just how ashamed I am that this happened to you! Please! If there is... Ah..."
She stopped when she saw Anthony being escorted out of my ship alongside the rest of the thieves.
Sorry, but your boyfriend here was complicit in the crime too...
Whatever she wanted to say died in her throat as the thieves were made to line up in front of my ship, all of them looking down and refusing to meet anyone’s gaze.
Looking around, I could actually feel the tension in the air as everyone else was sending them accusatory glares.
Rosalia approached me, her eyes scanning the ship in worry before letting out a sigh of relief, "Oh... It seems like they did not damage the ship at the very least..."
I sucked in a deep breath before breathing out audibly.
That motion seemed to have clued Rosalia in on what actually was the case.
Her eyes widened and she let out a soft whisper, "No..."
I only nodded and gestured towards the ramp.
She took that as me granting her permission and she sped past me to run into the ship.
Theresa and Freiderike also shot me worried looks and I did the same gesture, prompting them to run up the ramp as well.
I waited outside with the rest and everyone else was looking up at the ramp with bated breath, wondering what the three women might find inside.
They returned a few minutes later, all of them with pale faces as they no doubt learned of the damage that these thieves had caused.
Rosalia recovered the fastest as she stepped towards the thieves and yelled, "Who’s the ringleader?!!"
Like what happened when I questioned them, no one admitted it.
The bunny futa stomped her foot, "I asked, who is the ringleader!!! Are you all really going to stay silent?!! Are you refusing to answer a question from me?!!"
Several of the thieves then looked towards one particular person at the same time, which happened to be the first guy that I had beaten up in the ship’s corridor and outing him as the ringleader.
The moment Rosalia got her answer, there was no hesitation.
She went over to one of the security members, pulled out the gun from their holster, walked up to the guy and pulled the trigger to blow his brains out before he could even say anything.
His lifeless body collapsed onto the ground with a loud thud, his blood staining the hangar floor.
Holy shit... Can you just kill people like that here?
