What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 854: The Guy Who Called The Police On Us

Chapter 854: The Guy Who Called The Police On Us

The first thing I noticed was that the armed guards in the room looked different from the police guards that were escorting me.

Notably, the armed guards here were all dressed head to toe in black body armour and their equipment looked more advanced than what the police were using.

I’m assuming that they belong to two different groups of people and these weren’t like the elite police officers or something.

In fact, I somehow could feel the tension between the two groups of people despite the fact that everyone was wearing helmets that hid their faces from view.

One of the black armoured guards stepped forward and made a shooing motion at the police.

"We can handle it from here, you can leave now."

The police guard beside me did not move. In fact, he stepped forward and placed himself slightly in front of me.

"Not a chance. You guys told us that there was definitely something illegal on board their ship and yet we found nothing. Then you said that they had to be brought in front of your boss no matter what even without evidence. That’s already going against so many of our rules and regulations and we’re only doing this because your boss said it would endanger the entire station if we did not follow these instructions. Now you want us to just leave her with you? Not a chance. Her safety is still under our care until you can show us that we should be leaving her with you."

Oh? What’s this? These police officers are actually reasonable and responsible?

The other guy seemed to be pissed at the officer and I could see a few of them tense up as though they were expecting a fight to break out.

No way right? They aren’t going to start shooting at each other right here and now, are they?

Right as I thought they were going to start shooting at each other, a door at the side slid open and a man wearing a dark grey suit stepped out.

Accompanying him were a handful of women all dressed like they were his secretaries though the weapons they were carrying with them suggested they were probably not working as secretaries.

The man himself was rather tall and thin and his eyes were hidden behind a visor that covered the upper part of his face, hiding his eyes from view.

He frowned when he saw me and I was hoping that maybe he might also be someone reasonable and tell these armoured guards to stop threatening the police.

Unfortunately, I should have expected the boss to be just as unreasonable as the people working under them as he immediately pointed an accusatory finger in my direction.

"I said to bring the entire crew didn’t I? Who the fuck is this?"

The police officer that was currently shielding me with his body turned to the suit guy, "Your information has been inaccurate so far. You told us that there would be contraband on board that ship but we have found nothing. You even said that the ship might have been compromised with creatures that have taken over the ship but yet we found no such thing when we boarded the ship."

"Then you obviously got the wrong ship!" The other guy roared, slamming the table beside him.

The officer shook his head, "We used the tracker that you gave us and it was pointing to that ship. There were no other ships around the area so we could not have been mistaken."

A tracker? Compromised with creatures? Wait a minute...

Oh... I see now... These people were meant to ambush and capture Clement instead... They must have planted a tracker somewhere that allowed them to track his ship through the goods that he was smuggling.

The fact that they even mentioned something about the ship being compromised by creatures meant that the fact his ship had the outbreak of those alien creatures was also something that was planned to happen.

Seeing that the only thing that I got from Clement was the turtle, the tracker must have been located somewhere on the turtle itself.

I’m going to assume that the only reason why they got me instead of Clement was because the turtle broke free and unleashed the creatures earlier than they planned to, which forced him to divert his flight path to the closest system that could help him.

Thus, that started the chain of events where it led to me taking over the smuggling of the turtle from him instead.

But thanks to Renata swallowing up the turtle, the tracker might still point towards my ship but they would not be able to find the turtle itself.

The suit guy narrowed his eyes at the officer, "What did you find in the ship?"

"Nothing. It was only transporting supplies and none of them were contraband. We even searched the ships in the hangar bay and even the empty Exo-Knight carrier that was attached to it. Sure, it might be suspicious for them to have a completely empty ship but that’s not illegal."

I cleared my throat, "Ahem... We’ve placed an order for Exo-Knights to bolster our force but they are still in production so the ship is empty for now... We managed to capture that ship from Insurrectionists so we have registered it under us."

The officer turned to me and nodded in response before turning back to continue, "What’s more, you just made us arrest a Platinum ranked Mercenary who has the achievement of taking down a Pirate Lord on her own. If this was a misunderstanding, the damages you are liable for is going to be pretty immense."

There was a pause and even the suit guy’s guards seemed to be hesitating, everyone in the room was now focused on the suit guy himself.

He slowly sucked in a breath, "Are you telling me that there was no alien creature being let loose on board?"

"No. It was just a completely normal Mercenary ship with minimal cargo. Explain yourself, Mister Matsumoto!"

Matsumoto? He’s not related to Yumiko’s former second in command, is he?

The business man scowled before he straightened himself to bow his head, "It seems like I have been completely mistaken, officers. I suspect that it may have been a malfunction of the tracker that I have provided you. May I have it to check if it is functioning correctly?"

The officer in front of me pulled out a rectangular device and handed it over to one of the black armoured guards who took it from him to bring it to his boss.

Instead of taking it, the guy motioned one of the secretary girls to come forward to take it from him instead.

She immediately placed it on the table and brought out several tools to start working on the device, her speed with it comparable to Ries when she was working on her gadgets.

In just under a minute, she had broken the machine apart and put it back together before switching it on again.

She watched the screen that was projected in front of her for a moment before she turned to her boss and shook her head slightly.

I’m not sure if that was supposed to mean that it wasn’t working correctly or something until the Matsumoto guy turned back to spread his arms towards the police officers.

"My apologies, officers... It really does seem like there was a malfunction with the tracker. I accept full responsibility for this blunder and I am willing to pay for the inconveniences caused. As for Miss Mercenary, I will also compensate her for all the troubles she has gone through."

Huh... That’s... An interesting turn of events?

The police officer gestured to me, "So she’s innocent?"

"I would assume so since you have not found anything incriminating on her ship, correct?"

"We have not."

"Then she is totally innocent!"

"You just made us arrest an innocent person?"

"And I accept full responsibility for that. Do not worry, I will have my representative contact your superiors and we will reach a settlement for this, you have my word."

The officer grumbled before he turned back to me to release me from my wrist restraints.

As he was doing so, he whispered to me, "Get as much compensation from this guy as you can. He is completely and utterly loaded. You have my apologies for putting you through this..."

He then stepped back and gestured towards the door, intending to escort me back out when the Matsumoto guy called out to stop us.

"Hold on, could you let her stay? I want to personally apologise to her and explain everything to her. That shouldn’t be a problem right? You already know that she’s with me so if she ends up missing, you know that I am responsible."

The officer paused before turning back to me, "I’ll inform your crew members of what happened and I’ll send you my contact as well. Call us if anything happens and we’ll break down his door to rescue you if we have to. Feel free to leave if you don’t want to accept his offer."

I told him that I intended to listen to what that Matsumoto guy had to say and the officer nodded before leaving the place with the other officers.

Ok, this was not how I thought things would go when I came to this station...
