What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 859: Even The Turtles

Chapter 859: Even The Turtles

Clement sent me an application that would send out a ping through a set frequency using my Codex.

I wasn’t really sure how this worked but whoever was supposed to be receiving this shipment should be getting a notification from me at this point.

Sure enough, we only needed to wait for about a minute before a call came through.

When I answered it, a figure shrouded in shadow appeared on the screen.

Interestingly, it seems like on their side of the call, my figure was also shrouded in shadow so I wondered if this was some kind of setting that you can set during your calls.

"Is the shell prepared?" The figure asked.

Remembering what Clement said, I quickly answered with the password.

"It has yet to come out."

The figure gave a curt nod, "A maintenance ship will come by in a moment. Get the cargo ready to be transported."

"Yeah about that... The cargo is... Currently outside of containment."

There was a pause before the figure seemed to move to the side to fiddle with something off screen for a moment.

I couldn’t really tell what they were doing but if I had to guess, they might be trying to send a message to someone.

It took the guy a few seconds before the figure turned back to look at me again.

"What do you mean it’s outside of containment?"

"The container that was supposed to hold the cargo? Well... Let’s just say the cargo broke out of it and it’s now sitting outside the container so... I don’t know how you want to move it."

There was another pause before the figure finally spoke again, "I will call you back."

The screen shut off and I wondered what they were going to do about this.

To be honest, I was already surprised when that guy told me they were going to pick up the turtle from me directly. I thought they would just give me a location and expect me to head over there with the turtle myself to deliver it to them.

Not that I’m complaining about this since I could just let them deal with the turtle that was currently loose and laying in a corner of the cargo bay instead of figuring out how to sneak it out of here and into the Pleasure Station.

They would surely ask questions if they watch a maid pull out an entire car sized turtle out from her mouth after all...

On that note, I guess I should also prepare for visitors to board my ship and also to request a meeting with their boss.

I had also been hoping that the Yuki woman would contact me directly but I guess I should have figured she would get a subordinate to deal with the smuggling instead so it would be harder to trace it back to her.

In that case, I would have to make a direct request instead... But at this point, I still can’t be sure that the client for this turtle is actually Yuki and not someone else.

Guess we’ll just have to figure things out as we went along with the trade.

It took those guys about half an hour before they called back, the shadowy figure seemingly changed to someone else who was noticeably fatter than the previous one.

"You’re the smuggler?" The guy asked.

"Evidently, yes. I don’t suppose you’re going to tell me who you are?"

He ignored my question and continued asking, "What happened to the cargo?"

"Like I mentioned to the other guy... It broke out of the container..."

"Hmm... I see... Is the cargo intact?"

"Yes, it is intact."

"My ship will be arriving shortly. I take it that your ship is... The Iridescence?"

"That’s right."

"Alright, I’m docking with your ship now..."

The guy ended the call and sure enough, I received a docking request from what appeared to be a maintenance ship.

Just in case, the girls were ready with their weapons in case this was a trap.

The doors cycled open and a plump man stepped through them with what appeared to be two drones floating along beside him.

I could instantly tell that the drones were combat drones seeing that they had guns mounted on them. But they were still retracted inside the drone’s body so I believe it was just there for his own safety instead of him intending to use them against us.

He was also wearing some kind of cyberpunkish mask where it looked like a gas mask but with neon lights attached to it and the goggles also looked like digital projections instead of it being solid glass.

I was wondering if I should have covered my face after all to hide my identity, right as I felt Renata flow up from my neck to form herself into a face mask to hide my face for me.

Thanks Renata~ Though now I wonder if it’s good for my girls to be uncove-- When the heck did they wear those masks?

All of them were wearing strips of cloth around the bottom half of their faces right now and I didn’t even see them put that on...

Well whatever...

I went over to the fat guy and greeted him with a nod.

He looked me up and down and somehow, despite his face being covered by the mask, I could feel he disapproved of me for some reason.

"You’re the smuggler?" He asked.

I nodded, not saying anything.

"Where’s the cargo?"

I jerked my thumb towards the corner of the cargo bay.

He turned and his drones also turned with him, all of them focused on the turtle that was just laying on the ground in the corner.

He stared at it for a good long minute before turning back to me, "How are you still alive?"

I raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean?"

"That thing... It should have killed you and your entire crew if it managed to get out of its containment... How are you able to keep it in that corner without it coming to kill you?"

I tilted my head at him, "It’s not that dangerous if you don’t get close to it and just keep it well fed?"

"No, no... You don’t understand... We had to keep it sedated constantly and the container was specially designed to do that. If it was not sedated, that thing would be rampaging around!"

I blinked at him, "Rampaging around? It’s so slow though? I mean sure, it’s practically indestructible but like I said, just keep it fed and stay far away from it?"

He shook his head, "You seriously have no idea what that thing is do you? That’s a Walking Disaster! It’s a weapon designed to walk through and crush any defenses and slaughter all the defenders behind it! There is no way to control it aside from just sedating it to keep it down!"

I turned back to look at the turtle that was content to just lay there for the entirety of the trip so far.

Also, ’Walking Disaster’? Is that the name of this turtle or something?

I didn’t want to be mistaken... But I thought that the turtle was being really compliant recently and was actually rather obedient as well.

Like when I had to move it around, it didn’t even try to struggle or bite me like the first time I did so and just let me move it as I wanted.

Of course, I was still cautious around it, especially when it did try to bite me the last time so I always kept my distance from it.

Now this guy is telling me that it was not normal for it to just lay there to begin with?

Don’t tell me the reason why it was so hostile towards me to begin with was because it was so sedated that it couldn’t tell who I was so it just attacked anything that got near it?

I shrugged, "I don’t know what to tell you, but it’s been like this ever since."

He growled, "You’re not tricking us by delivering a fake are you?"

"A fake of what? What can I even use to replace the real thing?"

He didn’t seem to have an answer for that so he decided to ignore it.

Instead, he pointed at the turtle, "Can I go check?"

"You’re supposed to take it from me after all. I also just fed it so it should be nice and docile right now."

He went over to the turtle and...

The turtle immediately stood up and extended its head slightly out of its shell, its mouth opening threateningly.

Ok... I... Don’t remember the turtle ever doing that in my presence before... The most it would do is just raise its head and open its mouth slightly, mostly because it figured out my presence meant that I was going to feed it.

Wait... Could it be...

"No. Bad. Sit down," I ordered.

The turtle immediately snapped its mouth shut and sat back down.

...

...

I don’t even know at this point.
