What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 862: You’re A Tamer, Tera

Chapter 862: You’re A Tamer, Tera

The teal haired CEO ended up inviting me to her office to have a quick chat.

That is... After she told me to put the turtle into one of the exhibits.

She had explained that this was a zoo she was planning to set up where people could come and look at the creatures that she was taking care of for a price.

I was a little worried that these exhibits might have been inhumane or unsuitable for the animals to live in but as I had seen before, Yuki seemed to have prioritised the creature’s comfort in their own exhibit over all else.

In fact, the turtle happily plodded into the enclosure that had been set aside for it and plopped down inside it, looking quite content.

With the turtle secured and happy in its spot, she led me to another elevator which moved much faster than the industrial elevator and took us straight back to the main area of the station again.

She then guided us through a few corridors to another elevator which took us directly to her own private office.

I’m also just going to say, the golden retriever has been by my side the entire time, the dog following along happily and wagging its tail whenever I reached down to give it a pat.

The office was, ironically, not that different from Kaito’s in design so I wonder if one of them took inspiration from the other?

The golden retriever then let out a bark before bounding away from me and moving towards a corner of the room.

I thought that it lost interest in me until it started barking at that corner in particular.

That was when two flaps slid up from the wall to reveal two more golden retrievers who crawled out and started barking at the first one.

The one named Seraphim started bouncing around and barking again which I assumed was her telling the other two about me because they immediately lifted up their heads to look in my direction.

All three of them then immediately ran towards me and slid to a stop in front of me, all three of them panting in anticipation.

I didn’t miss the fact that Amber and Lea took a few steps back when the dogs ran towards us which I felt a little sympathetic to.

Unfortunately, I only have two ha-- Wait.

I secretly summoned a tentacle to form into a hand from my chest and I started patting all three of them at the same time.

Yes!! This is what this ability is for!!

Ahhhhh~ They’re so cuuuute! Pat pat pat~

Yuki called out from her desk where she was now sitting, "Miss Tera... Please take a seat here once you are done..."

Oh, whoops, my bad. Got a little carried away over there...

I retracted my hands, hardening my heart to ignore the disappointed whines coming from all three dogs only to give in and give them all another pat on the head before I finally retreated from them.

I went over to the desk and took a seat in front of the chair facing Yuki with Amber and Lea following alongside me.

The dogs decided to hang around, however, as they laid down on the ground not too far away from us.

Yuki steepled her fingers in front of her, "Let’s agree to be honest here, Miss Tera... I will offer the same courtesy to you as I hope that we could have a good relationship with each other. Surely both of us could benefit from an arrangement like that, don’t you agree?"

I shrugged, "I don’t know? I don’t really think you can provide me with anything I want though?"

I didn’t really intend to diss her like that but I was speaking the truth though.

The woman in front of me didn’t look too bothered by my claims and merely gestured towards me, "Judging from our interaction earlier, I believe there is definitely something I can offer you, couldn’t I? You are not aware of the existence of Biotamers and I am happy to share that information with you. Ah, but it seems I am getting ahead of myself. First thing’s first, your payment for delivering the goods to me..."

She placed a Credit Chip on the table before sliding it over to me.

I reached out my hand and stopped it before it slipped off the edge and picked it up to connect it to my Codex.

The number twenty million popped up on the screen which I suppose was quite reasonable for just a delivery job so I didn’t really protest.

In the first place, we weren’t even expecting to get paid since we were told this might be just a setup to discredit Kaito.

But it seems like that wasn’t the case at all with how the turtle was put into one of those exhibits as a pet.

Which means that Kaito guy was lying to us from the very beginning I see... Figured that was the case...

I leaned back in my seat and nodded at her, "I would say that I could probably find out the information from another source but I will admit that having a good business relationship with you would also be quite profitable so let’s talk."

She nodded, "First things first... When have you noticed your ability to control other creatures?"

"Hmm... I’m not too sure actually? Maybe about a few months ago?"

"And what was the creature that you controlled? Is it the same species as the ones you’ve met today?"

"No, they were different. And I wouldn’t even say control... It’s just that they were friendly towards me? I wasn’t actively trying to control it, you know?"

She frowned at me, "Is that so? Hmm... No matter, perhaps it would be better for me to just explain it to you. I assume none of you have heard about Biotamers before this?"

Lea raised her hand, "I believe I have. But the information I know is that they are considered pseudo nobles of some sort within the UTG territories, is that correct?"

Yuki’s eyebrows lowered slightly, "You are not wrong. There is a saying where a Psionic controls reality while a Biotamer tames it."

I raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean by that?"

"I assume you are already familiar with Psionics? Like what kind of abilities they possess and how they came about?"

"Well... To a certain degree I guess? At least as much as what an average person might know about them."

"This would make things easier. You could say that Biotamers are the mirrored and less acknowledged versions of Psionics. We are more subtle with our power usage which allowed most of us to go unnoticed until recently. Although I said ’recently’... It happened a few hundred years ago during the AI Rebellion so it isn’t really that recent."

I managed to keep my face neutral when she said that, trying not to show any signs that I found it ironic that we also just discovered the truth behind the rebellion recently.

She then gestured at the dogs, "During that time, everyone had to band together to fight against the AI rebellion and we had even made use of creatures like dogs to fight the machines. While most of the time, we basically dropped them in the battlefield to let them wreck havoc, it became a problem when we had to clean up after a battle as the dogs might also be hostile to the cleanup crew."

I’m more surprised that they even deployed dogs against machines because I wonder how they would be effective against them. Then I remembered the last time where I saw a dog shredding through body armour with their claws and teeth and I figured they probably didn’t have a problem shredding through machines either.

She continued, "That’s when we realised that there’s a specific group of people who are able to have some control over the creatures. Where some people seemed to be able to command them and direct them with orders and get them to obey."

I raised an eyebrow, "I’m assuming they’re Biotamers?"

"That’s correct. And the ability seemed to be genetic so there’s also Biotamer families where each family has their own specialties. As you might have figured, mine allows me to command this specific breed of dogs. There are other Biotamer families who are able to command other species as well."

I paused, "Wait... Are all the animals in your zoo creatures that you can control?"

She shook her head, "No. I am limited to only this species of dogs. Pretty much every Biotamer that I have come across would only be able to control one or two species of creatures at most. So hearing that you are able to control, or as you claimed... ’Being friendly’, towards more than one species is certainly surprising to hear. I believe you might have awakened as a special type of Biotamer that has never been seen before, Miss Tera."

Ok great... First it was the Psionic thing and I have yet to even properly get accustomed to... Now you’re throwing something else at me too?

What’s next? Is someone going to tell me I’m a wizard or a witch?
