Chapter 882: Oh No, What Happened Here?
Chapter 882: Oh No, What Happened Here?
We climbed up through the elevator shaft with the dogs dangling below me on a rope harness so that we could carry them with us up the ladder.
I was, of course, discreetly using my telekinesis to carry them because there’s no way I could carry three fully grown golden retrievers up a ladder by myself.
Yuki gave me a weird look when I went ahead to tie them up below me but said nothing as we started climbing.
The dogs seemed perfectly content to be lifted up by me and were even wagging their tails and acting like this was some kind of amusement park ride.
Well, they’re cute so I’m not going to complain.
The secretary bodyguard and a few of those security guys were also following along behind me, clearly not trusting the safety of their boss to us.
We reached the bottom of the lift and Yuki looked at me, making me wonder what she wanted from me.
"Can you release one of my dogs, please?" She asked.
Eh? What? Release one of the dogs? Wouldn’t the dog just fall down the elevator shaft if I did that?
Or... Oh! Are you telling me the dog can cut its way through the bottom of the lift and you’re going to carry it up there to do that?
Alright then~
I went ahead to pull up one of the goldies until It was hugging her against my chest, the doggo giving me a happy bark and licking my face before I managed to undo her rope harness and free the dog.
I then lifted her up, expecting Yuki to take the dog from me to lift it up towards the bottom of the elevator but the girl just narrowed her eyes at me, "What are you doing? Let go of the dog."
What? She really means for me to let go of the dog?
She turned her attention to the goldie in my arms, "Go. Break the floor here."
The goldie looked at her, then at me, as though checking with me first if it was ok for her to listen to that order.
Since she’s so sure... I gave the dog a nod.
The goldie then climbed up to my shoulder, using me as a platform to jump up towards the elevator above and give its bottom a quick slash with her claws.
A perfectly cut rectangular piece came falling out of the elevator’s bottom, dropping down towards the bottom of the shaft and leaving a hole that we could climb into.
As for the dog... I felt my heart sink as the dog fell towards the bottom of the shaft as well and I was just about to risk exposing myself by using my telekinesis on her when she spun through the air and kicked off the side of the shaft.
I watched as the dog started jumping up towards us using the walls of the elevator shaft and climbed into the hole before turning back to bark at us happily.
Err... Did I perhaps... Worry about the dogs unnecessarily?
Perhaps I could have just let them run in by themselves instead of carrying them?
...
I looked down at the last two dogs that had their tongues out and wagging their tails under me, clearly enjoying the ride I was giving them.
You know what? Worth it.
Yuki was going to start climbing up through the hole when the secretary bodyguard shouted out from below.
"Stop right there!! We’ll go ahead first and make sure our boss is safe! I don’t want you taking advantage of this situation and doing anything to him while we are still down here!!"
Yuki turned to me and I shrugged, showing that it didn’t really matter to use even if we were to accept it.
The both of us hopped over to the side to hang onto one of the hand holds beside the ladder, allowing the group to climb past us to crawl into the elevator ahead of us.
We waited until all of them had crawled into the hole before we followed after them, only to find that all of them were standing inside the lift and blocking the door.
The goldie that had climbed in first was seated at the corner and waiting patiently for us to join them, her tongue sticking out and panting cutely.
Of course I gave her a pat on the head for that.
I then turned my attention back to the group in front of me who have, for some reason, decided to just stand at the doorway without moving.
"Hey? What are you guys doing?" I asked.
No one said anything.
Hmm... Oh wait... I guess they’re just shocked about the corpses that were littered around the floor. I guess it certainly is a gruesome sight.
Yuki scoffed at them, "Move aside, damnit."
Yeah! You show them! Tell them to get lost!
Yuki pushed her way to the front of the group while I was busy untying the rope harness for the last two dogs.
When I was done, I realised that it was still eerily quiet behind me and I turned to see that Yuki, who had pushed her way to the very front of the group, had also stopped moving and was just standing there.
I went over to them and pushed past them, "Hey? What’s wrong?"
Someone breathed beside me, "Do... Not... Move..."
Eh?
Surprisingly, Yuki also whispered in my direction, "You... Don’t make any sudden movements... Can you... Control this one?"
Wait... Did something happen to the dog I left here?! Don’t tell me some other creature appeared and attacked her?!!
I immediately pushed past the group to reach the front of the group, only to see that the Mastiff I had left behind was standing right where I had left it, her fur raised up threateningly and letting out low growls while glaring at the people in front.
I guess... Even for me, seeing a huge dog like that growling and raising its heckles would also make me pause despite the fact that it’s a cute dog.
Right now, the dog was standing over the body of Kaito and that poor guy’s spine was still dumped on the ground beside the corpse.
There was no question the guy was dead with just a glance.
The moment the dog saw me though, she relaxed slightly though she was still watching the others around me warily, ready to pounce at any notice.
Hmm... I have to pretend like this is the first time I’m seeing the dog so...
"That’s a dog, isn’t it?" I asked.
Yuki gulped, "I believe so... I... Did not know that it could be that big..."
That’s what she-- No. Stop.
Also... Weren’t you the one who smuggled this dog in here? Are you telling me you had no idea the dog was going to be this big until now?
She then slowly turned her head towards me, "Can you... Control it?"
Looking at her, she was actually giving me a pleading look, clearly also scared of the giant dog in front of us.
I think she believes that if I couldn’t control it, we would all be killed right now the moment the dog became hostile.
Did she forget that I was here earlier and basically made the dog do all this?
I guess she got so scared that she really forgot...
I turned back to the dog and took a few steps forward away from the group.
A few gasps came from behind, probably expecting me to get mauled by the Mastiff the moment I stepped away from the group.
Instead, the dog just watched me, her tail wagging a little and her head raising just slightly.
I’m guessing she was wondering if she should attack the people behind me but figured that I probably didn’t want her to do that by stepping out towards her.
I tried to act like I was also unsure of myself before I reached out my hand towards her.
"Sit."
She obediently sat down on her haunches and started panting at me.
Ahhhh!! So cute!! I want to go in and start rubbing my face in her fur!! She’s soooo cute!!
I let out a breath before turning back to the group, "Seems like I can control her..."
The collective sighs of relief from the group filled the air as everyone relaxed.
The secretary bodyguard then rushed forward, her gaze scanning through the room to find that not only was her boss mauled, her coworkers were also similarly killed by none other than the dog.
She glared at the dog who immediately turned her gaze to glare back at the woman, prompting her to recoil back slightly in fear before she hurriedly looked away.
The dog sniffed at her before turning back to me.
Yuki then approached me, "You really are something, Miss Tera... Please remind me to never be your enemy."
Come on... You make it sound like I’m a monster...
