According to Ries, we were now ’"mega, giga ultra viral nya!" after the video of me beating that guy was uploaded.
Those were her words, not mine.
Looking at the comments on the video, I could tell that the opinions were quite split.
Diehard fans of SonicSlayer were basically accusing me of hacking or even just outright telling me to go and die and that I must be some fat, loser nobody with no life and no prospects of getting laid.
Not sure what they would say if they were to know who I really was.
Then there’s the other side who were congratulating me and praising me for it with some even asking for advice and others stating that they would start following the channel.
Vier overheard about this particular event on her own and immediately asked if she could take charge over managing the channel.
Seeing that she already had experience in these kinds of things anyway, both Ries and I agreed that it was better to just let her handle it instead.
I wasn’t sure what she did after that but when I looked at the video again later, I saw the views had already surpassed twenty billion and I was just too afraid to look at it after that.
After that, Vier gathered us and started talking to us about what kind of content we should make and was even talking about possible collabs and sponsorship deals, which basically turned her into our manager or something...
I saw this as basically a way to generate passive income for us so I didn’t mind and just let her manage it for us.
The only thing I told her to preserve was our freedom and anonymity. I would like for our faces to remain off the GalaNet and for us to not be tied down by any corporate agencies.
The last thing I want was for us to be turned into some corporate dogs.

Hmm... Considering what dogs are in this universe... Calling yourself a dog might actually be a compliment?
Anyway...
Our ships passed through the military checkpoints with ease and I was once again looking at the planet Xetarva with an entire fleet of military ships hovering in orbit above it.
Even before getting close to the planet, I could already see flashes of cannon fire from the ships bombarding the planet, no doubt they were fighting against the bugs again.
I sped towards the armada, hailing the Carrier flagship and seeing the admiral pop up on the screen.
"Mercenary Tera. I see you have managed to return safely. I assume you have the cargo?"
I nodded at him, "Yes. How is the--"
"Then prepare to sortie. We are already at the risk of being overwhelmed. Go right now," He interrupted me, shutting off the call before I could even respond.
Guess they must be in rather big trouble then...
I nodded at my girls, "Let’s prepare to support them with the Exo-Knights as well. Renata, you have the ship. Land it and help them unload the dogs. Vier, stay on board and notify us of any changes."
"Yes, Daddy!"
"Of course, Tera."
I moved with the girls to head to the Drow of Dawn once again, the dogs having already been packed back inside the cargo containers.
I would like to keep them outside since these containers quite literally have them packed inside an enclosed and dark space but... At least they only need to put up with it for a while more before I can let them out.
I boarded my Exo-Knight once again, starting up the machine as we neared the planet.
My vision changed to that of the Exo-Knight’s and I moved towards the hangar doors that opened up as we approached.
The planet was now right in front of us and I could clearly see the wave of bugs that were swarming at a tiny spot on the planet, the entire swarm looking like some kind of vortex on the planet’s surface.
The Iridescence detached itself from Drow of Dawn and began its descent, prompting all of us to jump out after them.
We dove towards the planet’s surface, burning through the atmosphere behind the ship as our shields flared to life to protect us from the atmospheric burn.
When I finally beheld the sight below, I couldn’t help but feel my stomach drop a little.
When we first came here, there was already a huge number of bugs which looked like they numbered in the tens of thousands. Now, it looked like they numbered in the millions as they poured out from burrows that were even further away from the original ones we saw.
The good thing was that the military had not been idle either as they had managed to expand their walls further out and there were now three walls that stood between the bugs and the main camp.
The walls were also reinforced with a lot of turrets, all of them firing at the horde of bugs that were still trying to swarm the base.
Soldiers were also manning the most outer wall as they shot at the swarm with everything they had.
There were also more vehicles now since there was space for them to stage now and they were launching bombardments over the walls, blasting the bugs into bits and pieces before they could even reach the wall.
But despite that, the horde did not seem to ebb at all and they could only continue firing while hoping it was enough to keep them at bay.
Right then, green balls of fire were also being launched towards the fort but a shield was being projected around it to protect the base from being bombarded by those balls.
The ships in orbit would then trace the arcs of fire and commence orbital bombardment on the artillery bugs and flatten them.
I was afraid that they had sent out the dogs to fight against such a big horde on their own but as I got closer to the fort, I found the cages for the dogs had been moved to the deepest parts of the fort with Nerissa standing in front of them and watching us descend.
I slowed down my descent before landing in front of Nerissa, bringing myself to a kneeling position so that I could get closer to her without needing to leave my machine.
"What’s the situation?" I asked her through the machine’s external speakers.
She grimaced at me and shook her head, "It’s not good..."
I sucked in my breath and looked at the cages in trepidation, "Don’t... Don’t tell me some of the dogs died?"
She blinked up at me, "Oh. No, no. They’re all fine. More than fine actually. It’s the soldiers that aren’t fine. What I warned actually came true... That’s all."
"What do you mean?"
"Well... The Admiral insisted that I send the dogs on the next wave and sure, they beat them back easily but when I called them back, some of them didn’t listen and just laid themselves outside the walls. An officer got pissed at it and tried to get a squad of soldiers out to move them back into the cages and... Well... All of them got slaughtered..."
"Ok... That’s really on the officer isn’t it? I hope that guy gets court martialed or something."
She nodded, "Yeah... Last I saw he was being shipped back up to the fleet in cuffs. But that wasn’t all... There was another wave of attacks and the bugs managed to climb over the perimeter wall to spill into the camp. Of course, I let the dogs loose but since it was a chaotic fight... Some of the soldiers also ended up getting mauled by the dogs too. I’m not sure if the Admiral still wants to rely on the dogs anymore."
I gestured at my ship as it came down for a landing, "Not sure he has a choice, there’s four hundred more dogs in there and I’m pretty sure he expects you to lead them."
"Fo... Four hundred?! I... I can barely even control one or two! A hundred is already clearly beyond my capab-- Ah... Please help me, Miss Tera..."
I nodded, "I’ll do my best. You let them loose and I’ll guide them."
"Thank you..." She cried, her body shaking visibly.
I’m going to guess that when those bugs climbed over the walls, things became a lot more dire than she lets on. And right now, I guess things were even worse as the horde of bugs did not seem to show any signs of ending.
I stood up again and called my girls, letting them join the defense of the fort while I waited for the other dogs to be unloaded.
I’m still not happy about sending the dogs to fight like this but... I suppose it’s better that I will be with them and will also be fighting alongside them as well.
So let’s beat these bugs back together, doggos!
