Chapter 303 – Present
The next day, we were at the Bezart Hunter’s Guild.
We were on its rooftop.
It was late afternoon when I handed over the items I’d been holding for them, one by one.
“Here you go. There’s Mei-chan’s medicine and medicinal herbs, plus various other herbs.”
“Yes, yes! Thanks!”
“And Potta-kun, you bought a ton of clothes, ingredients, and a few sun hats, too, right?”
“And vegetable seeds.”
“Ah, right, right. These individually packaged bags are Potta-kun’s.”
“I put everything in that brown leather bag.”
“Right. Everything in the brown leather bag is yours, Zink-kun.”
I didn’t mention that Zink-kun also brought back souvenirs for his mom in the bag.
He tried to hide it, but he still bought them properly. Zink-kun is really great.
After returning all the other small items I’d been holding onto, we finally finished. That’s when the travel stories and happy voices started spilling out.
“Loki, thanks a lot! I’d heard stories, but I never imagined I’d actually get to go into a dungeon!”
“For me, it was seeing beastmen for the first time! Besides horses, there were camels and tons of creatures I’d never seen before!”
“The food from other countries was amazing! And becoming a warrior? I’m so happy!”
“I’m glad you enjoyed yourselves. All three of you have grown so much. Well, as promised, I should give you a proper reward.”
“””Huh?”””
With that, I took out three inexpensive necklaces that I had secretly bought while shopping today.
Paisa-san probably wouldn’t mind, but giving weapons or armor would interfere with business and go too far.
Accessories don’t get in anyone’s way.
“Well, this is technically hunter gear, too.”
“Ah.”
“Huh? Did you know about this, Zink-kun?”
All three wore surprised expressions, but Zink-kun’s reaction was a bit different.
“Well, I’m not exactly an expert, but I remember Dad always wearing two rings whenever he went hunting.”
“In that case, they’re probably hunter-specific, ability-enhancing accessories.”
“There’s such a thing?”
“I’ve never heard of it.”
“Well, you see, they can activate up to two effects at once: ‘Ring,’ ‘Earring,’ ‘Necklace,’ and—”
In Bezart, there aren’t even any places that sell accessories, and you never see anyone wearing them.
Maybe the surrounding hunting grounds don’t require them, but it’s also likely that people like Mei-chan and Potta-kun simply don’t know they exist.
Then I’ll teach them.
Knowing opens up a new world and leads to far greater growth than blindly giving them powerful gear.
With increased choices, they can pick their desired “path” without regret.
“I think this ‘Attack Power Up’ is best for Zink-kun, ‘Hit Rate Up’ for Mei-chan, and ‘Agility Up’ for Potta-kun.”
“So, even if I close my eyes, I’ll hit more easily?”
“You idiot! Of course not! It means that if you aim properly, you’ll hit the Small Wolves faster and more easily.”
“Can I become a Small Wolf, too?”
“Haha, well, if you go to Malta, they sell those for about 30,000 Beeke each. Accessories always have higher tiers, but this ‘Minuscule’ one is said to be about as useful as a charm.”
“”What?””
Mei-chan and Potta-kun were clearly disappointed, but Zink-kun’s way of thinking was starting to align with mine.
“No, but you can still get stronger easily with just two, right? At that price, we can afford it, and you can choose which stats to boost. Isn’t that pretty important?”
“Exactly. Plus, since the main purpose of accessories is said to be bestowing, you can think of these as items that increase that slot.”
“””?”””
“If you ask, Paisa-san will do it for you, but bestowing is more for intermediate hunters or higher. Rather, it comes after you’ve gotten your gear sorted. So, we’ll leave that part for another time.”
“So, gear first. I want a better sword too. Maybe I’ll ask Paisa-san.”
“Me too! Did they sell any short spears in that barrel?”
“Mei-chan, shouldn’t you get armor first?”
“Well, they’re still open, so let’s go check it out!”
The three of them chattered excitedly about their future gear.
So that’s why.
“This time, all three have a little bestow on them, though.”
I told them these words just in case, but they didn’t ask any more about it.
They dashed off to the equipment shop across the way, still high on excitement.
It was a whirlwind trip, almost like a vacation.
Still, they gained a few things.
Seeing how much the three of them had grown, I’m pretty sure they’re getting normal level-up experience points in the dungeon, too.
Honestly, even with Insight, I couldn’t tell the difference.
My Insight level wasn’t high enough to discern it.
But watching them face monsters—the power of their strikes and the speed with which they dodged attacks—was impressive.
They’ve improved visibly ever since they started taking on E-rank monsters.
If monsters spawn in a dungeon, it’s standard for multiple monsters to appear in a single room.
This means that if they wanted to focus purely on “leveling up,” it was an efficient hunting ground for everyone except me.
Then there were the results of this experiment.
(The result was a failure, but…)
I really wanted the accessories I gifted to the three of them to have the Concealment ability.
The goddesses always wear them.
I thought I could do it, so I tried. But the result wasn’t just a close call. It was a clear failure, a complete dud.
Is my bestowing skill level insufficient?
Or is it fundamentally impossible to apply a Concealment bestowal, meaning it falls under the category of “Special Bestowal”—something obtainable only with an extremely low probability within the dungeon itself?
If they were created by the gods, either possibility seems plausible, and I have no answer.
Realizing that I could ask such questions is probably a gain from this attempt.
If I don’t know the answer, I’ll research until I do and eventually solve the problem.
By then, I’ll have grown stronger.
“Well then…let’s go…”
Now that my vacation is over, the task at hand is dungeon conquest.
To fill in the missing map sections first, I teleported to the fifth floor of the unfinished dungeon.
