Chapter 40 – Goal Achievement

“Alright! I have finally reached level 3 of Earth Magic and Presence Detection!”

Twelve days later.

As a result of hunting in the Palmera Great Forest from morning to night, day in and day out, I finally reached level 3 in Earth Magic and Presence Detection.

I set myself the quota to move on to the next hunting ground, Rocker Plain.

To save 1.5 million beeke.

And to get all three skills to level 3.

Those two skills were the last obstacle.

I knew that these two skills would be the last ones I would reach because the encounter rate of Hooley Mole was inevitably lower than that of Goblin and Horned Rabbit.

But it is also true that I was able to reach them faster than I expected.

I can’t help but think that it was all thanks to the nutritional tonic that Mei-chan’s mother gave me.

On the night of the day, I received the tonic, I forced myself to eat dinner at the inn, and afterward, I went to bed easily, feeling full for the first time in a long time.

When I woke up in the morning, I found that I was much less tired, and the next day, I was in perfect physical condition, almost as if I had lost all my fatigue.

The peak seemed to be the second day after taking the pills, after which my body gradually became heavier again, but the effects of the pills lasted for about four to five days.

During this time, I was able to maintain a pace at which I could jog, even though I had changed my quota to 6 Horned Rabbits on the first day of the hunt and filled my basket, which led to an increase in income and thus was certified as a god drug in my mind.

Of course, I visited Mei-chan’s mother to buy as much of this medicine as I could for future use, and that’s when I found out the reason for her last wry smile.

“This medicine is quite expensive because it is mixed with rare medicinal herbs.”

When I asked her the exact price, she apologized and said, “I’m sorry, it costs 50,000 beeke per bottle.”

However, according to my calculations, the medicine would increase my daily income by about 40,000 beeke, and if it lasted for five days, I would earn a total of about 200,000 beeke from one bottle.

In the first place, even if the balance was even, the fact that I could defeat more enemies was a plus for me in terms of experience, so even after hearing the price, my approval of the medicine as a divine medicine was not overturned.

It seemed that it required a rare herb that could only be bought if the occasional peddler or merchant had it, and although there were only two bottles in stock, I naturally bought those two bottles.

The mother seemed to think that it was normal to have a party when hunting, so she was surprised that there was no one in town who would buy so generously.

Well, that’s true, I thought, but I told her, “I’m on my own,” and reminded her that if she ever got the medicinal herbs, I would make a reservation for these pills.

The mother laughed and said that it would be all right because only the rare visiting mid-level merchants buy them to relieve their fatigue, and even the mayor of Bezart rarely buys them, so there would be no problem at all if I bought them all.

Finally, I could see the exit to the forest.

Once outside, I can slowly check my status.

Here’s my current status and my skills, which I opened while sitting on the grassy field.

Name: Loki (Yuto Mamiya) <Salesman>

Level: 8

Magic Power: 52/52

Strength: 29 (+1)

Intelligence: 30 (+7)

Defense: 28

Magic Defense: 28 (+6)

Agility: 28 (+6)

Technique: 27 (+7)

Luck: 33 (+1)

Blessings: None

Titles: None

Skills: Stick Art Lv1, Fire Magic Lv1, Earth Magic Lv3, Presence Detection Lv3, Different Languages Comprehension Lv3, Rush Lv3, Gathering Lv1, Hunting Lv1.

For Stick Art, I was killing Goblins with sticks as soon as I found them; for Gathering, I was picking grass and fruits; and for Hunting, I was killing monsters when I suddenly saw the announcement and acquired the skill.

The corresponding bonuses were Strength for Stick Art, Luck for Gathering, and Technique for Hunting, and as a melee attacker, I was happy to finally see my Strength increase.

As for Defense… I wonder what could make it go up?

The details of each skill are as follows.

Stick Art Lv1: As long as the user possesses a stick-shaped weapon, positive corrections are applied to offensive and defensive actions (Magic Power consumption: 0). Gives a limited increase of 130% of the skill’s value to a specific action for 1 second at will (Magic Power consumption: 5)

Fire Magic Lv1: Able to cast fire magic with a magic power consumption of less than 10

Earth Magic Lv3: Able to cast earth magic with a magic power consumption of 30 or less

Presence Detection Lv3: The user becomes sensitive to objects moving near the user. Range: 15-meter radius. Magic power consumption: 0

Rush Lv3: The user rushes forward at a speed of 190% of their ability stat. Movement range can be set at will; maximum distance 5 meters; Magic power consumption: 9

Different Language Comprehension Lv3: Able to speak languages spoken by humans with the comprehension of an 11-year-old child, even without knowledge of the language. Constant activation type. Magic power consumption: 0

Gathering Lv1: Improves gathering skills, making it slightly easier to find things to gather. Constant activation type. Magic power consumption: 0

Hunting Lv1: Improves hunting skills and makes it slightly easier to find prey. Constant activation type. Magic power consumption: 0

This is what it looks like.

I was curious about my first offensive skill, Stick Art, and as a result of trying it out in various ways, I found that when I held the stick and swung it, the pattern naturally entered my body, or rather, my body unconsciously took the actions that I should swing it this way or defend it this way.

The fact that the skill level is still 1, I think I just learned a little bit of the basics by training in a dojo somewhere… and that I acquired that level of skill on my own.

The limited correction for certain actions also meant that if I wanted to swing faster or put more force into the swing, the swing would temporarily accelerate, or the impact after the attack would be stronger.

Stick Art allows the distribution of acceleration alone, power alone, or both so that if you are all about speed, you will swing faster, and if you are all about power and speed, you will swing slower than the speed version, but in a balanced way.

However, there is no time to work out the details in battle, so if I want to use it as a basic weapon, I have to use the maximum amount of magic power.

Swing with all your might! Defend with all your might! But it can also be used in other ways.

Since there seemed to be no cooldown time for continuous use, I understood that it would be possible to use it to catch an enemy’s attack and hold out for a few seconds as long as I had enough magic power, regardless of efficiency.

Well, since I don’t plan on holding a stick, Stick Art is just for status bonus purposes.

I expect the same for Sword Art and Dagger Art in the future.

And the other skills are just extras for now.

I honestly don’t feel like it’s gotten easier to find anything, whether it’s from Gathering or Hunting.

It might be different when the skill level goes up, but… Especially when it comes to monsters, Presence Detection can catch the movement of monsters before they move, so I don’t think it’s practical to put skill points into those skills.

Besides, it has been many days since Rush reached level 3, and measuring the experience gained per monster from that point on, it was about 1%.

It’s not impossible to increase the experience level, but since my leveling is still in the single digits and I’m moving at a ridiculous turtle pace, I think it would be better overall to move my hunting ground to a higher level here.

Now that my status check is done, what should I do?

I looked at the basket and saw that there was still some space left, and I could hunt at least two more Horned Rabbits.

But tomorrow, I will be playing in the river with Zink-kun and the others…

That’s why I didn’t take my tonic pills.

I was going to take a day off from Hunting and another day or so of rest to prepare for the Rocker Plains, so I felt it was a waste not to be able to use the full effect of the pills.

Thanks to this, I’m not as strong as I was in the beginning, but my body is generally heavy, and my strength is not that great.

“(Hmm… I think I’ll just kill one more Horned Rabbit and be done with it. I’d like to get a feel for the Presence Detection, which has increased in level.)”

I can’t finish what I would normally finish.

It’s just a little bit more, a little bit more.

Is that from a game perspective?

No, it’s not. It was the same when I was a salesman.

Repeating these questions to myself, I went back to the forest.
