Chapter 726 - 32: Restrictions Surrounding the Broken Chapel
Chapter 726: Chapter 32: Restrictions Surrounding the Broken Chapel
95th Floor of the Lost Tower, Broken Chapel.
This place seems to be the forgotten sacrificial ground of some ancient Divine, now completely fallen into ruin and desolation. Everywhere you look, there are collapsed giant pillars, fragmented statue remains, and a dome torn to pieces by some terrifying force.
Dark bloodstains and charred scorch marks cover the gray-white boulders, silently recounting the brutal scenes once witnessed here. A sense of oppression, far heavier and more ancient than in other areas of the Hell Corridor, pervades the air.
And in the very center of this vast ruin, a starkly different scene unfolds—
An indescribably massive tree stands towering!
It reaches a thousand meters high, with a trunk as sturdy as the ridges of mountains, its bark a dark golden color, naturally etched with numerous intricate and mysterious patterns, as if engraining the world’s Law.
The gigantic tree crown stretches out, obscuring the sky, its leaves not green but a deep, light-absorbing black, with a faint rainbow glow flowing along their edges.
This is the Domain Level "Lost Fruit Tree," a tree that embodies the condensation of Rules and knowledge.
At this moment, at the ends of the tree’s coiling and gnarled branches, countless vine-like "tassels" gently undulate, emitting a soft glow.
At the tip of each tassel hangs a fist-sized luminous orb, faintly radiating rule fluctuations. Inside each orb, a small bulge slowly forms and pulsates—this is the soon-to-be-ripened "Lost Fruit"!
They adorn the black tree crown like stars, exuding an enticing and sacred aura.
Beneath the fruit tree, on a relatively flat, broken ground, three figures sit cross-legged in a triangular formation, deeply immersed in meditation. They are Cyrus of the Tower of Order, Ragnar, and Lai Ou of the Eternal Freeze Castle.
Their auras are restrained, but they seem to have formed a subtle energy connection with the entire ruin and even the Lost Fruit Tree, evident from their long-standing presence here.
What’s most alarming is not these three individuals themselves but the scene radiating outward from them and the Lost Fruit Tree—
Densely packed, layer upon layer!
Countless magical glows of various colors and attributes blanket the core area of the Broken Chapel like a web! Large and complex rune arrays are etched on the ground, energy traps hover in the air, trigger curses hide among the ruins, and even Space itself is reinforced with solid barriers and distorted nodes.
Frost, flame, arcane, Shadow, order imprisonment, soul wailing...various magical restrictions interweave and nest, forming a death fortress akin to an impregnable copper wall! Its meticulousness and danger are enough to exact a heavy toll on any who attempts a forced entry.
The three from the Tower of Order have evidently turned this treasure-bearing area into their personal fortress, standing ready to monopolize the fruit and ward off any covetous intruders.
"Ding—!"
A crisp, melodious sound like a Crystal bell being struck suddenly breaks the eerie silence of the Broken Chapel. This sound doesn’t transmit through the air but directly resonates within the minds of Cyrus, Ragnar, and Lai Ou—it’s the signal of their outermost alert array being triggered!
Cyrus, seated directly beneath the Lost Fruit Tree, suddenly opens his eyes, the aged eyes devoid of confusion, only cold sharpness and a trace of anticipated mockery.
A cold smile appears on his wrinkled face, like a venomous snake finally waiting for prey to step into its trap: "Huh, those rats hiding in the shadows, finally can’t hold back and are sticking their heads out?"
Almost simultaneously with the bell sound, Ragnar rises abruptly! The long-suppressed rage around him erupts like a volcano, the crimson energy making the air around him slightly distort. His eyes blaze with near-tangible flames of hatred, his teeth grinding loudly, he growls: "I’ll slaughter them!"
The name, on the tip of his tongue, seemed to be squeezed through gritted teeth—Lynch!
Cyrus glanced at him, not stopping, merely reminding tersely: "Remember, do not leave the effective range of the core Barrier! The Lost Fruit is on the verge of full maturity; ensuring its absolute safety is our top priority!"
Ragnar’s face twitched as he forcibly suppressed the impulse to rush out, muttering in a gruff voice: "Understood!"
Then, his entire body glowed red and turned into a blazing meteor, carrying immense killing intent, speeding toward the east side where the alert array was triggered, leaving a scorched trail in his wake.
...
Meanwhile, on the east side of the Lost Fruit Tree’s periphery, amidst a relatively higher cluster of broken stone pillars.
Lynch stands quietly atop a tilted giant stone pillar, his gray eyes slightly narrowed, gazing at the sea of dangerous, multicolored magical lights engulfing the chapel’s core area.
Even with his late-Law stage perspective and vast knowledge, his brows furrow tightly, showing an unusual "troubled" expression.
Kong, standing next to him, immediately senses his discomfort, asking in a low voice: "What’s wrong? Have you discovered something particularly tricky?"
Lynch, his gaze serious, watches those seemingly chaotic yet intricately connected magical glows, speaking solemnly: "Purgatory Magic Array..."
"Purgatory Magic Array?" Kong repeats, unfamiliar with the term, puzzled.
"Yes," Lynch explains, his tone tinged with seriousness, "It’s a very ancient and esoteric composite magic array, inherently a Domain-level creation, yet its construction principles and final effects approach the Fourth-tier Rules level."
He points ahead: "See these restrictions? They do not exist independently but ingeniously interweave, their energies cycling and coexisting."
"Once fully activated, the host at the array’s core can temporarily harness the vast accumulated energy, forcefully elevating their strength to the pinnacle of the Domain level, nearly invincible beneath the Rules, extremely difficult to penetrate from outside."
Upon hearing this, Kong frowns too, her tone slightly helpless: "These guys, for this fruit, have truly spared no effort or expense!" Setting up such a complex, powerful magic array is no easy task, requiring tremendous resources and Time.
Then, as if a thought crosses her mind, she looks at Lynch, a lighter tone: "However, for you, this shouldn’t be a problem, right? You’re the one who could even decipher those tomes of Argit, dismantling such restrictions should be a piece of cake?"
Lynch ponders, about to elaborate on his plan to break this array and its potential weaknesses...
At that moment!
A chill runs up his spine, the premonition of danger from the Eye of Death God prompts him to look up abruptly, his gaze piercing like lightning in the direction of the restrictions!
In that direction, a figure wrapped in intense flames tears through the air at an awe-inspiring speed, rushing toward their position like a runaway meteor! The fierce killing intent is so tangible; it pricks the skin even from afar.
The figure rapidly enlarges, clearly visible—it’s Ragnar!
His face contorts with fury, his eyes fixed on Lynch, filled with a blazing hatred nearly pouring out. Even before reaching them, a scream filled with ultimate malice and fury thunders like an explosion:
"Damn bastard! I’ve finally got you!!"
