Chapter 1438: Chapter 492: Haleem Missing (Part 2)

"So, does that mean if Haleem cannot be found, the promise to Rein cannot be fulfilled? Is that correct?" Trena frowned and said.

Now all communications with Rein are handled by her, meaning this trouble needs to be addressed by her.

"Yes, that’s my headache. I’ve already ordered Zetaya’s stationed troops to send out two elite investigation teams to that site to understand the situation."

"So, after arriving in Antuhoor, Councilor Trena, I hope you can delay for a few days."

"Just a delay? That’s not too difficult; a grand welcome ceremony and various activities have been arranged in the capital, but the problem is, even if it is delayed, I estimate it would be no more than three days."

"Vice Chairman, if there is still no news after three days, what then?"

"Sigh, hopefully, there will be news in these few days! If not, then we can only...."

...

At noon.

The mixed airship fleet arrived at the Federation Capital Antuhoor.

Rein looked down at the huge city below from the airship’s deck, so different from the Imperial City Tamriel.

The city below, besides the Gothic spires with an aged feel, also has numerous square buildings with clean symmetrical lines, evidently built in the past dozen years.

In the distance, smokestacks from sprawling factories stand tall, spewing dense smoke straight into the sky.

Clearly, even in the Federation Capital, they hadn’t considered issues like air pollution, and were vigorously developing industrialization.

With Rein’s keen eyesight, he could clearly see the streets bustling with traffic, both four-wheeled carriages clattering and steam locomotive pulling some kind of rail train.

For a moment, Rein felt as though he was looking at 18th-century London.

Once the airship fleet docked, a dense crowd was already waiting below to greet them.

What followed was several days of grand reception.

For Rein, it was rather tedious.

But as it was part of the Empire Delegation’s overall movement, he couldn’t afford to be too discourteous.

Also, he noticed that the beautiful woman Councilor Trena, possibly because she was the Federal head during the last visit to the Empire, was incredibly busy again for many activities.

Hence, he did not urge about the witchcraft matter with Trena, patiently waiting.

...

Inside a high-level office at the Federation Congress.

"Councilor Trena, it is now confirmed that the exploration team led by Haleem is completely trapped in that Ancient Goblin Empire site."

"Moreover, the two elite teams sent to investigate are entirely out of contact now."

"What! The situation is so severe?" Trena’s beautiful eyes widened slightly in surprise.

"Yes, the situation at the site is complex. According to the current investigation, it’s likely the ancient capital of the Ancient Goblin Empire."

"Now, the Department of Military Affairs is studying whether to involve the Federation’s Epic-level experts."

"Alas, the main issue is that these all require time, but Rein’s side... it would be troubling for you to explain." Bertrand sighed and said.

"I understand what Vice Speaker means, at least to ensure Lord Rein doesn’t become prejudiced against the Federation due to this matter," Trena timely replied.

"Indeed, Councilor Trena, at least Lord Rein must not feel we are duplicitous and untrustworthy," Bertrand nodded at the beautiful woman Trena.

"Otherwise, the good impression recently sown in the heart of this young Empire figure could be prematurely lost."

However, he knew this matter was highly challenging, even though he regarded Trena highly, he did feel this was somewhat taxing.

"Speaking of Rein, the Empire’s Spies have sent the latest intel confirming that Rein has no ties with the Imperial Royal Family; he’s a quality target for us to consider attracting."

"I understand." Trena nodded; she had already made a decision in her heart.

...

Soon in the afternoon.

Rein finally received the eagerly awaited invitation.

An invitation from the beautiful Councilor Trena for dinner, the main idea being to invite Rein to visit her residence and dine together.

As it was a formal dinner, Rein thought about it and decided to wear formal noble attire to participate.

By sunset, a four-wheeled luxury carriage was already waiting in front of the Federation National Guest Manor where Rein was staying.

Although Antuhoor already had miniature steam engines, due to the noisy engine sound, they were mainly used for public transit. Nobles and high society still preferred luxury four-wheeled carriages.

About half an hour later.

Rein rode in the luxury carriage arranged by Trena and arrived at her residence.

Through the small window of the carriage, Rein immediately saw Trena, elegantly dressed in a pale white lace gown, standing in the front garden of the residence, smiling, accompanied by two young maids.

Rein didn’t see other guests, and even Rebecca was absent.

This made him realize instantly that he was likely the only guest tonight.

"Lord Rein, apologies, I should have invited you earlier, but the past two days were incredibly busy with official duties. Please don’t take offense."

"Of course not, Councilor Trena; you are too kind."

"Here’s a small gift; I hope you’ll like it." Rein offered a fist-sized small gift box to Trena with a smile.

"Lord Rein, you are incredibly thoughtful."

No one dislikes gifts, especially when it comes to Trena, who had a favor to ask from Rein.
