Wizard: Stronger through Marriage

Chapter 1345 - 628: The Truth Behind Apotheosis

Chapter 1345: Chapter 628: The Truth Behind Apotheosis

Hill gently brushed away the dust on the surface and cautiously unfolded the parchment; line after line of script rose from the murky depths like secrets that had slept for a thousand years.

He furrowed his brows and focused, using his Soul’s senses to carefully discern the true meaning behind each symbol:

"...Sotos’s remains... must be activated with Chaos Divinity... the flesh and blood of a godhood candidate must serve as the key... and a godhood candidate is itself designated as Purification Program Candidate #27..."

This information struck Hill’s heart like thunder, sending a chill coursing through his whole body.

He abruptly halted his movements, his breathing turning faintly rapid for a moment.

The broken phrases before his eyes seemed to unveil a shocking and extremely dangerous truth.

Those beings in the Cosmos regarded as ’ascending to godhood’ are in fact nothing more than tools or nodes within a far greater purification scheme.

And David may well be one of them, marked as Candidate #27; from the moment he stepped into the Abyss, everything about him was already doomed to become a cog in a vast machine.

Wind gusts echoed through the Abyss, intertwining with the faint rot-tainted pulses from afar, making this place seem all the more desolate and deathly still, yet irrepressibly saturated with a sense of unknown threat.

Hill’s eyes grew steadily colder; he folded the journal and carefully stowed it away in a Magic protection pouch.

"If this news spreads, it will not only shake people’s hearts, it could provoke a new wave of panic."

He murmured to himself, "But the truth must be faced sooner or later; otherwise the Eternal Night Council and its Dark Forces will only grow more rampant."

At the same time, in the distant Divine Kingdom convalescent Holy Land, the unconscious David was sinking into a hazy dream.

He seemed to have returned to the past as fragments of memory slowly surfaced: he had gone alone into the depths of the Abyss, branded by an unknown force; that mark seemed to nail his fate fast to some irreversible cycle.

In the dream, the void twisted and shifted unpredictably; chains of Rune-script encircled it, binding the Soul like shackles and making him feel a suffocating pressure unlike any he had ever known.

Yet in that same moment, a will like a weak Flame was burning within—an indomitable cry for freedom, for defiance against fate’s shackles.

Before waking, he vaguely heard a voice lingering like an echo in the rafters: "You are Purification Program Candidate #27. You must fulfill your mission, no matter what the cost..."

Heavy, oppressive, yet uncannily familiar, that voice clung to his mind like a Ghost, making him sway again and again between agonized struggle and unwavering resolve.

And that unforgettable scene foreshadowed the unveiling of further hidden darkness; reality was far more intricate than imagined—and far more terrifying.

Liliana kept watch at the bedside; she saw the commander’s brows knitted tight, the veins on his forehead bulging, and though his breathing remained steady, it was unusually heavy.

She gripped her Magic Staff and guided a faint arcane warm current into him, softly chanting prayers as she wove a mental Defense net for David, to ward off the erosion and assault of the malignant storm of consciousness.

The dim candlelight flickered through the room, appearing especially solemn beneath the heavy drapes.

Nearby lay several precious tomes, arcane instruments, and a few remaining Divine Artifacts.

Serving as vital aids to healing, they continually shimmered with pale ghostly radiance, feeding the commander with an unceasing stream of Energy support.

Upon arriving at the convalescent Holy Hall, Hill immediately reported his findings to Liliana: "These journals not only reveal the activation mechanism of Sotos’s remains, they also show that the secret behind David’s identity is exceedingly dangerous."

"It seems we face not only external enemies," Liliana sighed, "but the shackles of fate we ourselves cannot escape. That makes the path of salvation all the more thorn-choked."

The two exchanged a look; without speaking they already understood the heavier burden they now had to bear—not merely guarding a slumbering king, but confronting the earth-shattering enigmas hidden in the tides of history, and the new crises that could erupt at any moment.

At this moment, the Holographic Star Map slowly rotated, the multiverse space nodes marked upon it flickering uncertainly.

Threads of dotted lines linked the center of this vast network, gathering and analyzing the dynamics of every faction and the veins of intelligence.

And the Eternal Night Council’s shadow shrouded the map’s most secret region, dangerous as a lurking tiger biding its time for the perfect kill...

The council chamber once more convened an emergency meeting; representatives from all sides sat around the table, faces grave—some with hands clasped, some with tears at the corners of their eyes, others clenching their teeth.

The strategists present launched into a dense discussion around the newly decoded information and how to handle the risks it concealed:

"If the truth leaks, it will shake the very foundation of faith across the world. We must ensure the message is kept under strict seal!" The senior Priest’s words were firm and decisive. "At the same time, we should strengthen patrol Defense, accelerate the restoration of David’s mental state, and make his power our greatest Shield."

The young female Mage analyzed coolly: "We need more supporting clues to pinpoint the Eternal Night Council’s concrete plans. Otherwise, acting rashly will only hand the enemy an opening."

Hill set down the report pages, staring unblinking at the whole assembly: "I’ve already dispatched the warlocks I trust most for deep investigation. This mission is perilous beyond measure, but only by confronting the dark head-on can we truly seize the initiative!"

Annie sat upright at the ancient stone table; the heavy Holy Scripture of Light lay open before her, the yellowed parchment corners gently curling, faintly hinting at a mysterious power long concealed.

Her fingertips traced lightly across the page; the dense, intricate, and near-impenetrable words and Runes seemed to flash with life in the soft candlelight.

A tireless Flame of truth-seeking burned in her eyes; she knew full well that this was not merely a Holy Scripture, but a Chapter of history that had been deliberately buried, distorted, and even manipulated.
