Chapter 515: Chapter 213: Adventuring with the Witch
"We must hurry."
El urged, they had to find the core of the ruins quickly.
A few minutes later, they arrived at a spacious great hall.
This hall was grand and awe-inspiring, with a massive stone pillar in the center etched with mysterious runes and patterns.
At the base of the pillar, there was a worn platform barely recognizable in shape, with some ancient relics covered in dust, appearing abandoned for a long time.
"It seems this was once some kind of altar." David observed the surroundings, his heart racing, "These runes seem related to Bloodline Mages."
He moved closer to the pillar, gently touching the runes. A faint and warm energy emanated from his fingertips, bringing him comfort.
He closed his eyes, trying to organize his thoughts, connecting all he knew about Bloodline Mages.
"These runes... might lead us to deeper information!"
Just then, a shadow quietly flickered from the depths of the great hall. They instantly became alert, gripping their weapons tightly again.
"Everyone, be careful!"
El shouted, knowing the danger lurking in the darkness hadn’t disappeared.
Suddenly, a colossal monster slowly emerged from the shadows, its chilling figure appearing blurry and distorted in the candlelight.
Its enormous size made the entire hall feel cramped, its body covered in twisted muscles and mutated limbs, as if brutally torn apart and rearranged.
The monster’s head was larger and more deformed than normal creatures, grotesque and misshapen.
Its eyes were two fierce and blazing red embers, flickering intensely in the dark like two burning flames.
Its gaze revealed ruthlessness and fury, seemingly proclaiming its disdain and hatred towards the intruders.
This creature was not a singular Magical Beast, but a grotesque product fused from multiple Magical Beast traits.
One of its arms was robust and beastly strong, covered in hard skin like Dragon Scales, with each joint emitting terrifying noises.
The other hand resembled a predator’s, sporting sharp claws so daunting it was reminiscent of the unsettling feeling of a sharp blade slicing through flesh.
More spine-chilling were the indistinct and wolf-ear-like appendages on its back, sharp yet furry, trembling as if alive with each movement of the monster.
Underneath the monster, a long, snake-like tail dragged across the ground, agile yet sturdy as an iron chain, stirring up dust and casting a gloom over the space.
Embedded in its chest was a gem emitting a dim glow, pulsating like a heart, injecting power into the terrifying body.
The gem appeared to harbor an incredible power, resonating subtly with the surrounding environment, causing a suffocating pressure on everyone present.
"Quick! Don’t let it intimidate you!"
David spoke in a stern voice, trying to pull his teammates back to reality from their shock.
But facing such a newly formed body that blended multiple Magical Beast features, each person could feel profound fear and helplessness.
At that moment, the monster let out a heavy yet loud roar, resonating through the great hall like thunder. It suddenly pounced at El, displaying remarkable speed and power!
The monster’s roar echoed throughout the hall. The swordsman charged forward bravely, wielding his longsword to strike the enormous monster.
Yet its body was as hard as armor, the sword blade sparked against its skin without leaving a scratch.
The monster retaliated without hesitation, its giant claw swung like lightning, forcing the swordsman back repeatedly.
"Concentrate fire! We must not let it distract us!"
El commanded from the side, quickly employing skills to enhance his teammates’ shields while preparing to support from the rear.
David gripped his weapon tightly, feeling the power from the Beastification Mark gradually filling his entire body.
After sidestepping another attack of the monster, he leapt fiercely, slashing down his weapon with every ounce of strength.
The sharp blade sliced through the air, aiming directly at the gem emitting a faint glow.
"Go!"
Just as David was about to make contact with the gem, the gigantic tail suddenly swept across like a heavy iron rod, hitting his body.
"Watch out!"
The Witch, seeing this, disregarded her own safety, quickly gathered energy and unleashed a brilliant electric light from the tip of her magic staff, striking the monster like thunder.
The electric light hit its target, causing the monster to roar in pain and fury, losing balance momentarily but only briefly.
At this point, the swordsman regained his composure, charging forward again, this time with the shield’s power applied by El, making his attack more ferocious.
He swung the steel blade with all his might at one of the monster’s arms; though the claw was thick, the blade finally carved out a wound, black fluid-like blood streaming down, filling him with excitement and encouragement.
"Good job! Keep attacking!"
El shouted, knowing that if they found a weakness, they could definitely defeat this Giant Beast.
Throughout the battle, they responded to each other and coordinated seamlessly, each utilizing their skills and advantages to form an encircling offensive, trapping the colossal creature in a tough fight.
But this wasn’t over; the monster, empowered by the fusion of Magical Beast forces, was clearly not easy to deal with, starting to become even more berserk.
