Jiang Chen laughed heartily. "We’re all friends here; no need for violence."

"Bastard! Who’s your friend? You’re a Swordsman—a Swordsman from the Continent of All-Gods!"

"Exactly! You’re a Hero from the Continent of All-Gods. What makes you think we’re your friends?"

"Swordsman, don’t be too arrogant. This isn’t the Continent of All-Gods; this is the Land of Sin! If you’re so capable, come out and fight me one-on-one."

"Or, now that Bai Yun isn’t around, let’s kill him!"

"That’s a good idea!"

At this, the Wanderers were enraged, all of them glaring furiously.

Jiang Chen was a Swordsman, a Hero from the Continent of All-Gods, and as such, he didn’t fit in with the Wanderers. This identity was indelible, much like Bai Yun, who also claimed to be a Wanderer. Yet, the Wanderers could not truly bring themselves to follow Bai Yun. That was because of Bai Yun’s original identity.

The Wanderers were a rather exclusive group; no matter how strong someone was, if they weren’t one of them, they were an outsider.

"Those not of our kin are sure to have different hearts." Such was the way of the Wanderers.

Jiang Chen smiled faintly, not angered by their remarks. Xenophobia, huh? It’s to be expected, he thought.

Jiang Chen said with a smile, "I never said *you* were my friends. I was talking about Miss Qianren Xue, wasn’t I?"

Qianren Xue froze. What?!

The others all turned to look at Qianren Xue, their faces etched with confusion. Could it be? Is the Chief of the Qianren Association having an affair with this Swordsman? they wondered.

Feeling their gazes, Qianren Xue snapped, "Brat, you’ll pay for that remark!"

"Uh... it was just a joke. Why take it so seriously?"

"There are no jokes among Wanderers," Qianren Xue stated coldly.

Li Mu sighed. "Jiang Chen, if you truly want to integrate with the Wanderers, you must abandon such thoughts. Otherwise, you’ll end up just like Bai Yun."

Li Mu felt a headache coming on. Even if Jiang Chen has contributed to the Wanderers, he shouldn’t be so brazen as to tease Qianren Xue! She’s a Chief of one of the Five Alliances, after all! Doesn’t she deserve some respect? he mused.

Nangong Xin, another Chief, smiled faintly. People from the Continent of All-Gods certainly are a particular sort, he thought.

SHING! Qianren Xue drew her sword, her voice cold. "Jiang Chen, do you dare fight me outside?"

Jiang Chen blinked. What? We don’t have any grudge, do we? How did this escalate to drawing weapons?

Seeing Jiang Chen remain silent, Qianren Xue continued to mock him, "What’s wrong? Scared? Or are all Heroes from the Continent of All-Gods cowards?"

"Hey... why bother with such taunts? I’m not a Wanderer, so that reverse psychology won’t work on me."

You expect me to go out and fight just because you say so? Are you crazy, or am I?

Besides, Jiang Chen’s mission was to protect Li Qinglian. What if these people start a fight while I’m gone? The loss would far outweigh any gain. As for duels between martial artists, there will be plenty of opportunities in the future.

At that moment, Jiang Chen understood. Even if he truly became a Wanderer, he could never truly integrate into their society. To them, Bai Yun was a traitor. Therefore, Jiang Chen would always be... an outsider.

Qianren Xue snorted. "Coward."

Damn it... Show some restraint, can’t you? Jiang Chen thought, exasperated.

Hilde suddenly shouted, "Enough, you Wanderers! Always so quick to draw swords! If you have a grudge, take it outside! Fight until the mountains crumble and the earth splits, fight to the death for all I care! If anyone dares to make a move in here, don’t blame me for being impolite. I’ll freeze you solid and consign you to eternal damnation!"

Hilde was furious. If it weren’t for Bai Yun, he would have already taken action and thrown them all out. They don’t even consider their own precarious situation, living under someone else’s roof, yet they still dare to flare up like this! he fumed internally.

Jiang Chen laughed. "The martial world isn’t all about fighting and killing; drinking is far more important! Innkeeper, bring some wine for Lord Hilde! Put it on my tab."

Hilde nodded. "Everyone, sit down and drink."

With Hilde seated at the table, no one dared to make a move.

Li Xiaolian also sat down, her gaze occasionally flitting between Jiang Chen and Li Qinglian.

Li Qinglian looked at Li Mu. "Li Mu, do you still remember me?"

Li Mu nodded. "I remember."

"I even remember picking a fruit from a tree at your house to eat. It was delicious. Do you still have any of those trees?"

"They’re all gone now."

"Oh, what a pity!"

Li Mu was speechless. What is she getting at?

Li Qinglian then turned to Nangong Xin. "Lord Nangong, you’ve gained quite a bit of weight, haven’t you? Has life been treating you well?"

Nangong Xin paused. Have I gotten fat?

Nangong Xin chuckled. "We’ve only met twice. I’m surprised you still remember me."

"Of course, I remember. When Bai Yun challenged you, you were so scared you wet your pants!"

COUGH, COUGH! Nangong Xin almost spat out a mouthful of old blood. Can we please not talk about that? How many years has it been? Why bring that up now, of all times! he inwardly groaned.

Li Qinglian then looked at Qianren Xue. "Qianren Xue, I remember when Bai Yun challenged your master, you were right there beside him. You were just a little girl of three back then! My, you’ve grown so tall."

Qianren Xue remained silent, her expression unreadable.

Jiang Chen chuckled internally. Interesting. She says nothing, but when Li Qinglian speaks, it’s always a bombshell! Why say these things in public?

Jiang Chen asked Li Qinglian with a smile, "So, was Qianren Xue very cute as a child?"

"Quite cute," Li Qinglian replied. "She had a cherubic baby face. She changed as she grew up, though; her face became more oval, and she grew more and more beautiful."

"So, did she wear those open-crotch pants when she was little?" Jiang Chen pressed, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

BANG! Qianren Xue slammed her hand on the table, her face flushed with anger. "Jiang Chen, you’re courting death!"

"Open-crotch pants? What are those?" Li Qinglian asked, tilting her head.

Jiang Chen grinned. "Open-crotch pants are, well, open-crotch pants! You don’t know?"

"I don’t have any children, so how would I know?" Li Qinglian replied innocently.

Well, if she doesn’t know, forget it, Jiang Chen thought. But his words had certainly provoked Qianren Xue. That woman was always drawing her sword, always flying into a rage. Doesn’t she have an ounce of patience?

Li Mu sighed again. "Jiang Chen, that was going a bit too far."

"I’m not a Wanderer," Jiang Chen retorted simply.

"You’re right, you’re not. But even so, you can’t just say things like that!" Li Mu said, exasperated.

Jiang Chen shrugged internally. Fine, for your sake, Li Mu, I won’t press it. Otherwise, I might just expose all of Qianren Xue’s embarrassing childhood stories.

Li Qinglian turned to Li Xiaolian, looking as if she wanted to say more.

Jiang Chen subtly shook his head at her. Don’t say any more, he conveyed silently. In their minds, you’re already dead, and the dead don’t come back to life. There’s also a crucial point: you are now a Priest from the Continent of All-Gods, no longer a Wanderer. That’s very important. They won’t forgive anyone they consider a traitor to the Wanderers.

Nangong Xin, Li Mu, and Qianren Xue eventually left, heading off in the same direction.

Once they were some distance away, Li Mu asked, "Nangong Xin, what are your thoughts on this Li Qinglian matter?"

"Anyone can see it’s a conspiracy by the Continent of All-Gods," Nangong Xin replied gravely. "If Bai Yun returns and discovers that Li Qinglian is still alive, he will inevitably return to the Continent of All-Gods. Should that happen, we Wanderers will be in grave danger."

Li Mu nodded. "Indeed. It’s already exceedingly strange for someone to be resurrected with their memories completely intact."

Nangong Xin, too, was secretly astonished by this.

Qianren Xue snorted coldly. "So what if he returns? It’s not like we only have one Sword God. Besides, Bai Yun was never truly one of us to begin with."

"Bai Yun is exceptionally strong," Li Mu countered. "He has always protected the Wanderers’ Alliance. Without him, we probably would have been wiped out by others long ago."

"The question is, what is Bai Yun thinking?" Nangong Xin mused aloud.

Li Mu and Nangong Xin fell silent, both pondering the dire consequences should Bai Yun indeed return to the Continent of All-Gods. The entire Wanderer community would likely face a catastrophe.

There were quite a few Wanderers capable of contending with a Divine, but only Bai Yun possessed the ability to actually slay one. The others simply couldn’t manage such a feat. Divine beings wield the Law of Power, something ordinary Martial Arts could not hope to overcome.
