Chapter 606 - 605, Archer’s Sneak Attack_1
Chapter 606: Chapter 605, Archer’s Sneak Attack_1
After Jiang Chen finished speaking, Daphne considered his words. It might indeed be possible, she thought. The Incubi originally lived here, only to be dispersed by a great battle. It was like a war of the gods. In order to proliferate and thrive, the Incubus Clan fled this place, arriving in the real world and becoming a part of the Defiled God Continent. This explained why Daphne felt a sense of homecoming; this place was originally the homeland of her people, the Incubi.
Daphne nodded. "You’re right, it’s quite possible. But it’s been deserted for so long, no one lives here anymore."
"Let’s look around," Jiang Chen suggested, "and see if we can find any other Abnormal Beasts."
The two searched among the ruins. The ancient buildings all hinted at a once-glorious civilization.
Just as they were searching, THUD THUD THUD...
Countless footsteps sounded from around them. They immediately halted, scanning their surroundings.
From all directions, numerous Incubus Beasts approached. These creatures were the size of hunting dogs, with sharp teeth, and they snarled at the pair.
"There are so many of them; this must be their lair," Jiang Chen observed.
"So many! There must be at least a few thousand," Daphne exclaimed.
"Yes... you’re in luck," Jiang Chen said.
Daphne licked the corner of her mouth; all these Incubus Beasts contained the Rule of Dream—some with half a manifestation of it, some with one, and some even with ten.
ROAR...
A furious roar echoed from above. Jiang Chen lifted his gaze to where an eight-meter-tall Abnormal Beast had appeared. This Abnormal Beast was incredibly powerful; its body contained a full ten thousand manifestations of the Rule of Dream. Clearly, this was their leader, and it was now eyeing Jiang Chen and Daphne covetously.
Daphne said, "Jiang Chen, you deal with that leader. Leave the smaller ones to me."
"Alright, be careful."
"Don’t worry," Daphne replied, brimming with confidence. "I’ve learned your Skill. Grand River Sword Intent can instantly slay them."
Having cloned Jiang Chen’s Skill, her confidence had soared. Along the way, she had successively slain more than a dozen Incubus Beasts and could now effortlessly control his Skill. Without exaggeration, the current Daphne was a lower-powered version of Jiang Chen. Thus, she was filled with confidence.
Jiang Chen rushed towards the Abnormal Beast leader above, leaving Daphne to deal with the thousands of smaller Abnormal Beasts by herself. He glanced back once. Daphne had unleashed her Grand River Sword Intent, Sword Qi drifting with the wind around her. Within a fifty-meter radius, the air was thick with a dense field of Sword Qi.
Jiang Chen smiled. Indeed, there’s nothing to worry about! This woman learns very quickly. She’s already mastered the knack of it.
He charged at the leader. "Heaven Cutting Swords Technique...!"
SLASH...
A single sword strike split the leader in half. The current Jiang Chen might not be Divine, but his strength was on par with that of Divine beings. A mere Abnormal Beast was no match for him at all. The battle was straightforward.
Meanwhile, Daphne frantically slaughtered the surrounding Abnormal Beasts below.
Sword Qi Surging...
The surrounding Abnormal Beasts kept falling. Some of the smarter ones, seeing their leader dead, immediately turned tail and fled...
What remained was to clean up the battlefield. They collected the 15,000 manifestations of the Rule of Dream. Their strength was upgraded further.
The two continued on their way, looking for new Abnormal Beast strongholds. After an hour, they discovered another set of ruins.
Daphne laughed. "Our luck isn’t bad! We’ve found another ruin. There must be new Abnormal Beasts here."
Jiang Chen looked deep into the ruins and stopped in his tracks.
Daphne turned around. "Why have you stopped?"
"Haven’t you noticed? This ruin is completely different from the first one."
Daphne looked around. Rubble and broken stones were everywhere. "There’s nothing different about it!"
"It’s too clean here," Jiang Chen stated.
Daphne took another look at the ruined city.
Clean? she mused. It does seem cleaner than the first ruin.
Jiang Chen said, "We’ve passed through two ruins and encountered two waves of Abnormal Beasts. Each group of beasts had a distinct smell, a stench of decay. But that smell isn’t here. It looks the same, but this place is different."
Daphne asked in confusion, "What do you mean?"
"It’s very likely that your own kind are here."
"The Incubus Clan?"
"Yes. Think about it. This is a city, just like cities in the real world. It’s very likely that members of the Incubus Clan live here, and they keep the place very clean. After all, people are not like Abnormal Beasts."
Daphne nodded, finding Jiang Chen’s analysis made a lot of sense. Indeed, he has a point. Could there really be members of the Incubus Clan here?
Just as the two were perplexed, countless sharp arrows fell from the sky...
They quickly retreated...
RUMBLE...
The moment the sharp arrows touched the ground, they exploded with loud bangs, sending fire and debris flying, creating chaos.
Jiang Chen was stunned. Incubi? No, this definitely isn’t the work of Incubi. It’s the Class of Archers! How could there be Archers here? Moreover, judging from the strength of the explosion, this was the Archers’ Law of Fire.
Daphne exclaimed, "It’s Archers!"
"Yes," Jiang Chen confirmed. "I didn’t expect there to be other Classes here."
Daphne asked, "Where are they?"
"I don’t know."
"Don’t you have the Heart Realm?"
"The Heart Realm is useless in Dreamspace. They don’t breathe and have no heartbeat, so I can’t sense them directly. However, I can get a general idea of their location." Jiang Chen felt strong killing intent emanating from five different directions. That meant there were at least five enemies hiding in the shadows.
Daphne was on high alert, guarding against a surprise attack. After their initial sneak attack, the enemy hadn’t shown themselves but remained hidden...
Daphne asked, "What should we do?"
"They’re hidden in the shadows while we’re out in the open. They can attack us at any time. We just need to be careful. It’s very likely they’ll strike again."
"Yeah, damn it! How could there be Archers here?" Daphne was also puzzled, thankful they hadn’t ventured further in, or they would have been in danger. "You’re amazing for noticing something was off so early."
Jiang Chen smiled without saying a word, closely watching for any movements...
At that moment, an arrow shot up into the sky. The two looked up, and in an instant, that projectile transformed into dark clouds, with flashes of lightning within...
Jiang Chen’s brow furrowed tightly. This is the Thunder and Lightning Laws. The Archers’ Thunder and Lightning Laws. And the speed of thunder and lightning was incredibly fast.
In the next second, a bolt of lightning struck towards the two of them.
RUMBLE...
Jiang Chen grabbed Daphne and swiftly used Instant Step to retreat. The Power of Laws was formidable—at least half a million manifestations of the Thunder and Lightning Laws! To Jiang Chen, this was nothing. But since he hadn’t yet identified the enemy, Jiang Chen chose not to reveal his full strength, instead using Instant Step to swiftly retreat further.
Daphne was scared stiff; she had nearly been struck by the lightning...
