Chapter 199 – Deception
Kandori does not answer Yamato’s question.
“Hey!”
“You’re being noisy.”
“That’s what we agreed. Where’s Tozaki-sensei?”
“Huh? Are you stupid?”
“What did you say?”
“There’s no way he would come here if he’s busy with the national election.”
“Don’t be ridiculous! That’s what we agreed!”
The two of them, who had started to argue, were stared at by the explorers of the Men’s Association, who were unable to move.
“If it’s a promise, you should show your sincerity first, right?”
“I kept my promise.”
“You haven’t. Give me those guys as test subjects―that was the promise you made with Sensei.”
“That’s why I brought them here and made them wear the ‘freedom contract collars’ you gave me.”
Those were words of betrayal without a shred of doubt.
The explorers of the Men’s Association were brimming with murderous intent as they confronted Yamato.
The intensity of their murderous intent was especially strong because they were unable to move.
“I’m going to perform an experiment, so help me.”
“Don’t be ridiculous! My job is to hand these guys over to you!”
“…Are you scared?”
“What?”
“You tricked your friends and sold them out―you were able to do that, but you don’t want to see them used in some unknown experiment… is that what this is about?”
“That is not what this is about. In the first place, the promise I made to Sensei didn’t include anything like that. The agreement was that Sensei would be present at the time of the handover! This is not what was agreed upon!”
“Fu, fufufu…”
Kandori laughs softly, holding up a hand to cover half of her face, which she has pulled out of her lab coat pocket.
“So what do you want to do? If Sensei isn’t around, are you going to insist that you won’t give me these garbage-shaped people?”
“T-That’s…”
“You already betrayed them. You can’t just pretend it never happened now.”
“You’re going to break your promise?”
“Promises are made to be broken―it’s a cliché, but it’s true. Promises are made to bind people and make them act in the interest of the person making the promise. Once that purpose has been served, it’s up to the person who made the promise to keep it or break it. You can see that in the history of mankind, can’t you?”
“You tricked me!?”
“Oh, that’s a misunderstanding. Sensei is a kind person. He created this opportunity for you to give you a chance.”
“…What do you mean?”
“It’s about revenge, isn’t it?”
Kandori’s words made Yamato jump.
“…What are you talking about?”
“Don’t play dumb. Sensei knew everything from the beginning.”
“What…”
“You tried to get close to Sensei to get your chance to take revenge on the person who hurt your beloved sister… Do you think that Sensei is someone who can’t see through such a plan?”
Yamato falls silent at Kandori’s mocking words.
I’m starting to get a picture of what’s going on.
But I can’t hear half of what they’re saying.
Because what I’m seeing is too unbelievable.
What am I looking at?
Kandori’s status, of course.

Skill Macro 1
When the pre-set conditions are met, the skill is automatically performed in the manner specified in the pre-set conditions. Up to S.Lv of macros can be registered at the same time.
────────────────────
Furthermore, by using Detailed Appraisal, it was possible to see the Voice of Heaven, which was probably echoing in Kandori’s head at that moment.
However, this was even more bizarre than the status.
‘The C-Rank Dungeon “Kandori Kiriko’s Right Forearm Radius Dungeon” has been completed by your monster “Kandori Kiriko (Nobel Prize Candidate for Physiology), Professor of Howa University, Cultivating Slime Macrophages (2341125) from Magic Moss!”‘
‘Your monster “Kandori Kiriko (Nobel Prize Candidate for Physiology), Professor at Howa University, Cultivated Slime Macrophages (1260922) from Magic Moss” has completed the B-Ranked Dungeon “Kandori Kiriko’s Left Eye Vitreous Dungeon”!’
‘The A-ranked dungeon “Kandori Kiriko’s Dorsal Frontal Prefrontal Dungeon” has been completed by the monster you created, “Kandori Kiriko (a leading candidate for the Nobel Prize in Physiology), a professor at Howa University, who cultivated Slime Macrophages (13869) from Magic Moss!”‘
‘The C-Ranked Dungeon “Kandori Kiriko’s――’
This Voice of Heaven continues without a pause.
There is no way to mute the Voice of Heaven, so Kandori’s brain must be in a terrible state.
What’s more, part of the Voice of Heaven continues.
Specifically, it goes something like this.
‘The C-rank dungeon “Kandori Kiri’s Right Forearm Radius Dungeon” has been cleared by the monster you created, “Kandori Kiriko (Professor at Howa University and a leading candidate for the Nobel Prize in Physiology), who cultivated the Slime Macrophage (2341125) from the magic moss!”‘
‘The fulfillment of the special condition has been confirmed. You have acquired the skill “First Time Out.”‘
Congratulations !!! ────────────
Special Condition Achievement: “Having a monster you created complete a dungeon solo.”
Reward: First Time Out Skill Set
Upon receiving the “First Time Out” skill set, the monster and its creator will gain the following skills from the set.
Experience Sharing
SP Sharing
Skill Sharing
────────────────────
“I’ve never thought of this requirement.”
I think I can fulfill this condition if I have my own monsters (the mini slimes named after the three goddesses of fate) complete the dungeon.
Just like the guys in the Men’s Association kept the special condition of defeating 400 monsters a secret among themselves, I think Kandori is keeping this condition a secret as well.
Even if she told people, I don’t think there are many people other than Kandori who could fulfill this requirement.
What’s different about this special condition compared to the others is that the bonus skill is given to “monsters and monster creators.”
So every time the slime macrophage that Kandori created clears a “dungeon,” the special condition is fulfilled individually, and Kandori is notified.
In other words, after the “I cleared it!” part of the log that you saw at the beginning, there is a First Time Out attached to it.
In short, in Kandori Kiriko’s mind, the fanfare of the Voice of Heaven and the special conditions are still echoing without a break.
“…How can she stay sane?”
Even if you say that the sound of leveling up in an RPG is really satisfying, if it keeps echoing in your head for 24 hours without a break, you’re bound to go crazy.
Another thing that worries me is the slime macrophage with the long-winded name.
The name is always “Kandori Kiriko, Professor at Howa University (the strongest candidate for the Nobel Prize in Physiology) cultivated slime macrophages (XXXXXX) from magic moss.”
The fact that it’s numbered suggests that it’s probably an automatic naming by Skill Macro.
Aside from the oversized “strongest candidate for the Nobel Prize in Physiology” hook, the part that caught my attention was “cultivated from magic moss.”
“Wasn’t magic moss the residue from DP?”
I thought to myself, and dug up Kandori’s log… and there it was.
────────────────────
Kandori Kiriko’s Skill Macro performed the registered Macro 1: Cultivate Magic Moss.
Kandori Kiriko used the skill Split.
Result: Failure.
One of Kandori Kiriko’s white blood cells split and became a slime macrophage.
Kandori Kiriko changed the name of the slime macrophage to “Professor Kandori Kiriko of Howa University (the most likely candidate for the Nobel Prize in Physiology) cultivated a slime macrophage from moss (453869).”
────────────────────
“She didn’t cultivate it from moss, you know!”
After I couldn’t help but make a comment, I panicked and used magic to create a vacuum to absorb my own voice.
I was a little surprised that I was able to create a wall of vacuum faster than my voice could travel through the air.
…No, that’s not important.
Let’s take a step-by-step look at what Kandori is doing.
First, Split.
I also have this skill.
It’s a skill I got in the thicket dungeon near my parent’s house, which I’d almost forgotten about.
The description is quite distinctive, so maybe some of you will remember it.
Skill ──────────────────
Split 1 (Monster-only Skill)
Split your body in two. The split individual has half the HP but inherits all other stats and skills.
Depending on your S.Lv, you can continue to split after the split.
Caution: There is no guarantee that this will work properly if used on a non-amorphous monster.
────────────────────
I decided not to use this skill out of fear of the last warning, but it seems that Kandori wasn’t worried about it.
She must have used her scientist’s inquisitive mind to investigate what “no guarantee it will work properly” meant.
As a result, she seems to have found a failure pattern where her own white blood cells become slime macrophages.
If you’re looking for a plausible theory, it seems that as a result of searching for something similar to an “amorphous monster” among the cells of the human body, one of the white blood cells split into a monster called a slime macrophage.
The slime macrophage that was born was given the name that was registered for it.
In my experience, it is possible to name the monsters summoned by Secret Monster Summoning and the monsters created by Dungeon Management.
However, there are no benefits to naming the latter, such as power-ups.
You can simply name them as you wish for administrative convenience.
Using this naming function, Kandori gave the Slime Macrophage, which is just a monster, the name “Kandori Kiriko. Professor at Howa University (the most likely candidate for the Nobel Prize in Physiology) cultivated the Slime Macrophage (XXXXXX) from the magic moss.”
In other words, she didn’t cultivate the monster from the magic moss; she just gave the monster she created using the split function a name of her choosing.
For example… well, let’s see.
If you take a dog and name it “Neko,” it won’t suddenly turn into a cat.
This “Neko” is definitely a dog.
It’s just that the eccentric owner decided to call the dog “Neko.”
The macro name “Magic Moss Cultivation” is also misleading.
This macro doesn’t contain a process for growing magic moss.
Of course, that’s because magic moss doesn’t have the properties Kandori is looking for.
To borrow an Internet slang term, it’s “macrophages cultivated from magic moss (it doesn’t actually say they were cultivated from magic moss).”
“What’s the point of this…?”
I think I’m probably the first person other than Kandori to appreciate this “(Omitted) Slime Macrophage.”
To put a deception in a name that no one but the person herself would even see is beyond the bounds of common sense.
Kandori’s self-deception is not limited to the slime.
To begin with, she was fired from her university job, so the claim that she is a professor at Howa University is a blatant lie.
As for the claim that she is the leading candidate for the Nobel Prize in Physiology, it is so ridiculous that I don’t even feel like commenting on it.
“Turning your own body into a dungeon in an Experimental Space, and then having the Slime Macrophages you created through Split conquer that dungeon… is that some kind of crazy, high-level trick?”
The Slime Macrophages learn Experience Sharing and SP Sharing when they achieve special conditions, and they return the experience and SP they gain to Kandori like nutrients.
Judging by the numbering, the total number of Slime Macrophages in Kandori must be in the millions.
It seems that not all of the Macrophages that are created are successful in completing the dungeon, but even so, a ridiculous amount of experience and SP is constantly being returned to Kandori.
It’s a system where you level up automatically without any effort on your part.
It’s pretty well thought out.
I wouldn’t want to copy it, though.
However, I don’t think Kandori is at all interested in improving her skills as a dungeon explorer.
Even though she has a huge amount of SP, there’s no indication that she’s acquired any skills on her own.
It seems that the skills Kandori possesses were acquired by some of the Slime Macrophages and then shared with Kandori through Skill Sharing.
While there are some skills that look dangerous, such as Physical Reflection and Magic Absorption, the only magic-based attack she has, despite having exceptionally high MP and Magic Power, is Water Stream Radiation.
With so much SP, it seems like she could at least take a magic-type skill and increase its skill level.
However, Kandori does not even bother to do that.
Could it be that Kandori really believes this?
That she was the first person in the world to successfully breed monsters from moss, and that she is the leading candidate for the Nobel Prize in Physiology?
That’s a scary story.
“Wait a minute? Maybe the mental effects of Seiji Tozaki’s ‘Change of Strategy’ are affecting her… no, it can’t be.”
I checked her status, but there was no ‘Strategy’ section in Kandori’s status.
I also checked the log, but there was no indication that she had been subjected to a ‘Strategy Change’ in the past.
“Does that mean that Tozaki didn’t interfere with Kandori? No, that can’t be it either.”
That’s also hard to believe.
First of all, it’s strange that Kandori, who’s supposed to be the leader of the Women’s Association and the leading advocate of man-hatred, has been calling Seiji Tozaki “Sensei” and praising him since earlier.
Even while I was lost in thought about Kandori’s status, the two of them continued their conversation.
“If my goal is revenge… then why did you make a deal with me?”
