Chapter 28 – Establishing New Earning Potential

The Tengumine Shrine dungeon has seven floors in total.

The size of each floor is said to be normal or slightly smaller than usual.

There is said to be a portal to return to the surface on the fourth floor, which is in the middle of the dungeon.

I separated from Serika and escaped to the fourth floor first.

‘You managed to escape.’

‘No experience gained.’

‘Gained 65 SP.’

‘Earned 9,870 yen.’

‘You have obtained the Food Pill!’

‘Lost 5231 yen!’

It’s the same up to the second floor.

I hunt the Raven Tengu and immediately escape.

I noticed that when the monsters are composed of a Raven Tengu, a Mud Kappa, and a Red Oni, it is more effective to kill both the Raven Tengu and the Mud Kappa before escaping.

Although the Red Oni’s attack increases again, the Mud Throwing and dragging me into the mud swamp is surprisingly annoying.

It is better to simply avoid the Red Oni’s attacks, which have a high attack power but many misses to avoid accidents.

I have developed a diagonal dodge technique that adds an Agility dodge option to the Luck dodge I have been relying on.

With my high Luck and Agility, the Red Oni’s attack will not hit me unless I am very unlucky.

Then how about “defeating” the Raven Tengu and the Mud Kappa, then Knockout the Red Oni (an attack that destroys the target, leaving it with 1 HP and incapacitated), and then escaping?

Of course, from a safety standpoint, this is a perfect approach.

But since Knockout is a skill that you consciously turn on and off, I’m a little afraid that if I do it badly, I might accidentally defeat the Red Oni.

If I happen to make a mistake and destroy the enemy, all the hard work I’ve put into not leveling up will be wasted.

So I decided to use a method that seemed to have the least chance of human error, even though I was willing to take a few hits.

Speaking of human error, another problem surfaced.

It was the traps in the dungeon.

There are no traps in dungeons up to C-rank.

However, traps appear in B-rank dungeons.

So far, I have been able to avoid them with my high Agility and Luck, but there is always a chance that I will fail to avoid them.

As a solo explorer, I have no friends to rescue me if I fall into a trap.

Fortunately, the hunt is going too well.

Let’s use the SP I’ve saved up to get some anti-trapping skills.

Skill──────────────────

Trap Detection 1

Finds traps, but cannot find traps higher than S.Lv.

────────────────────

Skill──────────────────

Trap Disarm 1

Disarms traps; may not be able to disarm traps of a higher level than S.Lv.

────────────────────

According to the results of using Appraise on the traps found, the traps in the Tengumine Shrine dungeon are level 1.

A level 1 trap spotting skill would be sufficient.

By the way, Trap Detection and Trap Disarm Trap are the type of skills that start with 100 earned SP, so the SP required to raise the skill to level 2 is 400.

This is not a problem with the amount of earnings I do now, so I think it is a good idea to get it as soon as possible if I feel there is any danger.

“Oh, a treasure chest!”

A treasure chest was found at a dead endーanother thing that was not found in the C-rank dungeon.

After disarming the trap, I opened it with a sense of excitement,

“What, a Ring of Protection?”

The first treasure chest I opened was a duplicate.

I already have the Ring of Protection dropped by the Gigant Rock Golem, so it’s useless to me.

You can only wear one ring at a time.

If I thought I could get a boss drop from a C-rank dungeon, I should be lucky.

When I reached the third floor, the situation changed a bit.

The composition of the enemies remained the same: Raven Tengu, Mud Kappa, and Red Oni.

However, the level of each of them increased slightly.

There is no real difference in strength (the Raven Tengu is a one-hit, and all other attacks are dodged), but there is one whose level increase is significant.

The Red Oni.

The level of the Red Oni that appears on the third floor is 52, up two from the 50 that appeared on the second floor.

These two are the problem.

The level difference between me and the Red Oni level 50 up to the second floor is 49.

The Red Oni level 52 from the third floor is now 51.

The level difference between me and them is now over 50, which means that the SP gain from defeating the Red Oni will increase from 5 times to 6 times.

The strategy for earning SP will change in this case.

It is true that Red Oni is difficult to hunt because of its high HP, but it is worth it when the SP is multiplied by 6.

So far, the Raven Tengu’s income is 13 x 5 SP, which is 65.

Even the Red Oni lvl. 50 up to the second layer was 70 with 14 x 5 SP, which was better than the Raven Tengu just by the numbers.

However, when considering time efficiency after taking into account the ease of hunting, the Raven Tengu was the better choice.

However, the Red Oni Lv. 52 on the third floor has 14 x 6 SP, which is 84 SP gained per round.

With the numbers so far apart, I was tempted to hunt the Red Oni, even though it was a little harder.

However, when I tried to fight them, I found that it took three magic shots to defeat the Red Oni (unless a fatal critical hit occurred).

“I want to make it at least two.

What should I do to achieve that?

I could take a skill, of course.

But instead of taking a new skill, it would be faster to level up the rare skill I got as a bonus.

After thinking about it with the SP I had on hand, I came up with this,

Level 3 Magic Power Enhancement (1600 SP)

Level 2 Strong Strike Technique (1600 SP)

Set Ancient Chanting to level 2 (1600 SP)

Increased MP Recovery Speed to level 2 (SP400)

I decided to raise each of them.

SP 901

────────────────────

Since Magic Power Enhancement is an ability value enhancement skill, a bonus of 1.2 times the acquired SP of 1600 = 1960 was added to Magic Power.

The skill Strong Strike Magic “increases Magic Power by (S.Lv x 10)% and generates a knockback instead of increasing MP consumption by (S.Lv x 10)%”, so the effect has been increased from 1.1 times to 1.2 times since level 2.

Of course, there is an ability value bonus for the SP gained.

The 1600 SP required to purchase it will be added to Magic Power.

Ancient Chanting is a “special spell that doubles magic power in exchange for increasing the chanting time by (10-S.Lv) seconds”, so the power of the skill remains the same.

It is intended to provide a bonus to magic power for the SP gained and a slight improvement in earning efficiency.

The reason for increasing the skill level of “MP Recovery Speed Up” is to compensate for the increased MP consumption of Strong Strike Magic.

The Red Oni is resistant to the Fire attribute and somewhat weak against the Water and Ice attributes.

Therefore, there was no need to buff Water Magic and Ice Magic.

However, instead of increasing specific attributes, increasing the overall power of magic is more appropriate for other monsters.

I saved the SP (400 x 2) needed to level up Trap Detection and Disarm Trap in case the trap level was increased.

Thanks to the Ring of Protection obtained from the Giant Rock Golem in the Water Park Dungeon, Defense has been increased by a fixed +100.

Escape does not compensate for the increased ability value of the equipment.

Escape negatively affects defense by a factor of 0.4.

It is nice to have equipment that increases defense without being affected by it.

A defense value of 453 is equivalent to level 45 for an explorer with a base skill value of 10.

It is a little unsatisfactory for the level range of this dungeon.

However, my HP is over 1000, and the activation rate of Agility Dodge and Lucky Dodge is unusually high.

This should be enough to compensate for my low defense.

On top of that, I even have the slime monster skill Self-Regeneration.

And so the details of my story continue,

“Thunder Spear!”

The skills on this spell are: Strong Strike Magic 3, Ancient Chant 2, Preemptive Strike 1, First Move 1, and Vanguard Knowledge.

Oops, the Red Oni is humanoid, so the effect of Assassination Technique 1 increases the damage and critical strike rate by (S.Lv x 5)%.

I want x1.3 x2 x1.2 x1.2 x1.5 x1.05…

That’s 5.9 times what I calculated on my phone.

On top of that, the bonus for acquiring the skill swells the magic to about 2.5 times what it was in the first place.

In addition, the effect of Surprise Attack 1 reduces all ability stats of enemies surprised by the attack by 5%.

The power of a critical hit caused by Magic Critical 1 is increased by 1.1 times (against monsters twice your level or higher) by the effect of Heaven’s Punishment 1.

I don’t know the details of the damage calculation in this crazy world, but a Red Oni Lv 52 was instantly obliterated.

Maybe it was a one-shot deal, even without the critical hit on it.

Since it was a Red Oni, Mud Kappa, and Mud Kappa formation, I knocked out one Mud Kappa and then escaped in front of it.

If it was just one, I could have knocked it out, but it would have been inconvenient to count the SP.

‘You managed to escape.’

‘No experience gained.’

‘Gained 82 SP.’

‘Earned 13,000 yen.’

‘You got the Rage Mustard!’

‘Lost 9555 yen!’

“Alright. Now I can hunt the Red Oni as well.”

I ran forward through the dungeon, mainly hunting Red Oni, and soon reached the depths of the fourth floor.

There are two portals.

The black one is a portal to the fifth floor, and the white one is an exit to the outside.

“What should I do?”

I checked the time on my cell phone,

“Four o’clock. That’s a delicate time.”

There is only one bus back from Tengumine Shrine every hour, and the last one leaves at 6 pm.

Considering that I would have to take a local train back home after that, it would be foolish to go to the seventh floor now.

“I had no choice but to go home.”

I had originally planned to just take a look at the situation today.

Just knowing that it is possible to make an earning with Red Oni level 52 is a good thing.

I entered the white portal and went down to the surface.
