Chapter 70 – Is It Possible to Burst SP by Going Around Level-Raised Bosses?
Now it’s time to try the A-rank dungeon!
…That’s what I was going to say, but I made a significant discovery in the Tengumine Shrine Dungeon last time.
To verify this, today I went to the dungeon closest to my parents’ house, a thicket dungeon that is closer to my house than a convenience store.
How many times have I been in this dungeon? But it was the most convenient place for the test.
I don’t even need to look at the map anymore to remember the route.
I ran past the Slime and reached the end of the forest in about an hour.
“Summon Secret Monster, Hobijinkai!”
Dosukoooii!
“Join my party today!”
The familiar Hobbit Sumo Wrestler thumped his chest!
Normally, I would make him my companion so that I wouldn’t get any experience, but this time, I would be in the starting lineup.
I can feel Hobijinkai’s nose twitching.
I enter the boss’s room with Hobijinkai in front of me.
There it is, the Huge Slime, the guy I’ve seen more times than the faces of my parents…
But.
The “pressure” I felt was a world away from before.

────────────────────
I said it was off by an order of magnitude, but that was a lie.
It used to be level 7, so it’s off by three digits.
“As expected, the level is raised to match Hobijinkai.”
The Divide and Self Regeneration skills give a bonus to HP, and Self Regeneration even increases the speed of recovery.
The Survive skill also has the added bonus of saving the user from instant death once.
When I consider that the 5-skill level Divide can be split up to 5 times, each of which has Self Regeneration and Survive, it’s a pretty nasty skill structure.
Still, I don’t feel like losing.
“Let’s go!”
Thanks to Hobijinkai playing the vanguard, I had it pretty easy.
I allowed it to Divide a few times, but after Divides, its maximum HP is reduced to half.
In fact, it was easier for me to defeat it when it divided because the amount of Self Regeneration recovery (S.Lv% of maximum HP) was also reduced.
“Blaze Lance!”
My attack hit the last Huge Slime.
The Slime that had survived at 1 HP due to Survive is struck by a flash of Hobijinkai’s Harite.
‘You have defeated the dungeon boss!’
‘You do not gain experience from the dungeon boss.’
‘Earned 230100 SP.’
‘Gained 3235100 yen.’
‘You have obtained the Fluid Mithril!’
“Okay, just as I calculated!”
The amount of SP earned is 650 x 295 x 1.2.
The base value of 650 for Huge Slime Lv. 2941 is multiplied by 295 times the bonus correction due to the level difference (2941-1), and a 20% increase due to Gain Sp Up 2 is added.
Even though there were no special conditions, such as a boss or dungeon, to defeat, the result was still more than enough.
By the way, it seems that even if a merged Huge Slime is defeated, the number of items gained does not increase.
In between fights, I used Plunder to steal the third drop item, an Elixir.
I slipped out of the exit portal and immediately jumped into the entrance portal.
Once back, I ran through the dungeon and called Hobijinkai outside the boss room.
――But there was no dungeon boss in the boss room that I bravely entered.
“I see. The boss takes a while to respawn, huh?”
Normally, after completing a dungeon, you would not try it again right away.
Unless you are good enough, it is impossible, and even if you are good enough, you can make more money by going to a higher-level dungeon.
I think the wiki says that the higher the rank of the dungeon, the longer it takes for the boss to respawn.
Conversely, this dungeon, which is one of the easier C-rank dungeons… should not take too long to respawn.
“The question is, how long would it take?”
Even if it’s short, it’s stressful to wait without knowing how long it will take.
Yes, that’s right. Let’s ask someone who seems to know more about this sort of thing.
I’ve just gotten to the point where I can use guild chat.
I pulled out my phone and opened Dungeons Go Pro,
“I have a question. Are you free?”
I sent a text message.
The person on the other end is Haitani-san.
“It’s okay. What is it?”
“I got an answer.”
The reply came back in an instant.
“Do you know how long it takes for a dungeon boss to respawn after being defeated?”
“If it is approximate, I can tell by a rule of thumb. What is the dungeon’s rank?”
“It’s a C.”
“Why is Kurashiki-san in a C-rank dungeon now?”
“There was something I wanted to check.”
“I see. As for your question, if it is a C-rank dungeon, it is expected to be respawned within the same day.”
“Do you know how long it will take?”
“It depends on the dungeon. The earliest is 2 hours, and the latest is 18 hours.”
“What about a simple dungeon with only Slimes?”
“If that’s the case, I’d say it’s early.”
It’s been about an hour since I killed the boss.
There’s still at least an hour to go.
“I still have some time left, so I was wondering if you could help me out. I’d like to talk to you about the next dungeon I want to explore.”
“I’ll have to deal with it while I’m working on other things, but if you don’t mind…”
“Yes, it’s okay, even if the response is slow.”
“Speaking of the next dungeon, are you still planning to try an A-rank dungeon?”
“That’s right. First, I will dive into the local A-rank dungeon to get a feel for it, and then I will narrow my focus and try to conquer the A-rank dungeon.”
“I see.”
“There is a fairly ordinary A-rank dungeon in my hometown, so I plan to go there tomorrow.”
“If that’s the case, you want to know what happens after that, right? Is there a special condition like the last dungeon in Hikarigaoka Park?”
“Oh. There must be few people. There must be monsters that use unusual abilities. Some monsters drop unusual items. It would be nice if the drop item were a weapon.”
“That’s an interesting condition. Is it better to be close to home?”
“No, if it is far away, I will take a place to stay. But I would like it to be in Tokyo or nearby prefectures.”
“I understand. I will look into it. Please wait a moment.”
“Please do.”
I thought it would take some time, but the message came within five minutes.
“There are several candidates, but how about the Kururi Castle Dungeon in Chiba?”
“What kind of dungeon is that?”
“It is commonly known as the Karakuri Tower. It is a dungeon where only artificial monsters appear, such as Karakuri soldiers, Karakuri tanks, and Karakuri drones.”
“That sounds interesting.”
“The only person who would say that is Kurashiki-san. The artificial monsters, especially the Karakuri series, have mechanical movements that are different from biological monsters, and many explorers have trouble with them. Karakuri Towers have a lot of traps and gimmicks, and they are unpopular for that reason as well. That’s why there’s not much data on dropped items, but there have been reports of people picking up rapid-fire crossbows.”
“Hehh…”
I doubt that a rapid-fire crossbow would be that useful, but it’s possible that other unusual weapons could be dropped.
For me, there’s also the fact that I have Plunder.
As for traps, I could just increase Trap Detection and Trap Removal.
Gimmicks like revolving doors, hidden doors, and bridge-lowering devices are typical, but I can handle them with my Mini Map.
Short Teleportation does not allow you to go through walls, but it does allow you to jump over holes.
I might even find an unexpected treasure chest with Treasure Detection.
“I’ve put together a list of other candidates, and I’ll send you the file.”
An attachment is sent to the guild chat.
“Okay!”
It’s been less than ten minutes since we discussed this!
I thought she was working on it alongside her other work!
I open the attachment, and there are a dozen or so candidate dungeons that might fit the bill.
While I was reviewing these files and asking Haitani-san questions, magic gathered in the boss room, and the Huge Slime respawned.
I checked the time on my phone and saw that it took just over two hours to respawn.
“Thank you. You have been very helpful. Please let me know if you need anything else.”
After quickly replying to the guild chat, I turned my attention to the Huge Slime.
The battle is the same as before.
There is really nothing worth mentioning.
‘You defeated the dungeon boss!’
‘No experience gained from the dungeon boss.’
‘Earned 230100 SP.’
‘Gained 3235100 yen.’
‘You have obtained Fluid Mithril!’
“230,000 SP in two hours for a set…”
That’s a terrible income.
“This is more profitable than exploring A-rank dungeons…”
Just as I was about to mutter that, the Voice of Heaven came down.
‘The C-rank dungeon ‘Kusuzawa Minami Dungeon’ has been depleted.’
‘Help: Once a dungeon is depleted, no new monsters will appear until sufficient resources are accumulated.’
‘The time required for the depletion state of “Kusuzawa Minami Dungeon” to be resolved is 214 days, 7 hours, 34 minutes, and 05 seconds.’
“I see. So it’s not that easy.”
Maybe it was a bad idea to make the bosses in the C-rank dungeon much more difficult than they should have been.
I don’t know how the dungeon produces monsters.
But the cost of producing a normal range Huge Slime and the cost of producing a level 2941 Huge Slime.
It is hard to imagine them being the same.
Was it bad that the level difference bonus gave an outrageous multiplier to SP?
“If this dungeon is depleted after two runs, would the Black Swan Forest Park dungeon be a little more…? No. Could it have barely held one?”
What if the first level increase was one step short of exhaustion, say 95% of the way through?
If that were the case, there is a good chance that even a slightly larger C-rank dungeon would be depleted in two.
Even a B-rank dungeon might be dangerous.
Huh? What’s the problem with raiding a dungeon?
If it is a deserted dungeon like this thicket dungeon, there might not be a problem.
But if it is a larger dungeon, there must be explorers who make each dungeon their main exploration goal.
What would happen if I depleted such a dungeon?
Some of the explorers would lose their livelihood and be in trouble.
Of course, they can dive into another dungeon, but if they dive into another dungeon in a hurry and without preparation, they might get hurt unnecessarily or, worse, lose their lives.
Then, of course, if I cause a (probably) unknown phenomenon like “dungeon depletion” everywhere I go, they might get suspicious of me sooner or later.
Not that I’d be accused of a crime, but I’d definitely be noticed.
I don’t care if it’s just me, but I want to avoid a situation that could cause trouble for the Paladin Knights.
“One time. One time only…?”
No, I can’t say it won’t wear off.
If it’s a crowded dungeon, I’m sure other explorers besides me will challenge the boss and consume a good portion of the dungeon’s “resources” or whatever it is.
If I hit the boss with a level increase of 2941, there is a possibility of a one-shot KO.
“Kuh. Unfortunately, this earning will be sealed…”
It seems fine for dungeons where the original level range is high, but it would be better not to do it in C- or B-rank dungeons.
Considering this, it was a wise decision to defeat the boss in the Tengumine Shrine Dungeon without raising the boss’ level.
That doesn’t mean there wasn’t a reward.
The 460200 SP for the two level-raised Huge Slimes will be used for the A-rank dungeon.
By the way, when I later asked Haitani-san about the depletion of dungeons, she said,
“Is there such a phenomenon? I have never heard of it.”
That was surprising,
“Just like the last flood, you must have a talent for encountering rare phenomena, right, Kurashiki-san?”
She was also astonished.
