Young Master's PoV: Woke Up As A Villain In A Game One Day

Chapter 499: Men And Curiosity [II]

Chapter 499: Men And Curiosity [II]

Exhausted after playing around with my shiny new ability, I looked at the digital clock on the faraway wall.

06:00 PM.

Wow. Time flew by fast.

I had spent the entire afternoon in the gym. And, admittedly, I had gotten a little carried away.

At some point, I had spent nearly thirty minutes trying to figure out if I could grow a third arm.

I could. It was just incredibly fucking uncomfortable. And I’m not talking only physically.

The thing is that every time I mold my flesh into another shape, I feel a sharp sting emanating from someplace deeper than my bones.

And the more I strayed from the natural shape of my body, the worse that sting became.

A third arm was manageable. Tentacles, sure. A second head… I didn’t even try.

Because aside from fearing the pain, as I said, I had no intentions of becoming brain-dead.

So I decided it was finally time to stop playing around. But before that… I tried shapeshifting. I had to! Because why not?

Shapeshifting took almost no effort. I just kept it to the surface.

Changing my face, for example, was surprisingly easy. I made my nose smaller, jaw sharper, eyes bigger, and hair longer.

Then I spent the next ten minutes staring at my reflection, cycling through different faces like I was doing character creation in a game.

It was honestly pretty fun!

At one point, I even tried making myself look like Michael. That lasted about three seconds before I immediately changed it back.

Nope.

Absolutely not.

Still, the possibilities were ridiculous. I could make myself look older and younger, taller and thinner, broader and shorter.

With enough practice, I could probably impersonate someone almost perfectly.

Not yet, though.

There was one major problem.

My voice. I didn’t want to touch my vocal cords.

Actually, I didn’t want to go anywhere near my head and neck and spine until I was absolutely sure I wouldn’t kill myself by an oopsie.

But… there was one tiny thing I wanted to do first.

You know what I’m talking about, right? Heh.

Every man, at least once in his life, has wondered what it would be like to have a more… generous equipment.

It doesn’t matter if you are big or small, it doesn’t matter that size superiority was mostly a myth, and it certainly doesn’t matter how many studies you’ve read about the subject.

Curiosity was curiosity.

And I held the power to satisfy that curiosity, the curiosity that had bothered men since the dawn of time itself!

Naturally, I had to test it.

For science. For men!

I stared at myself in the mirror for a few seconds, more nervous than I thought I would be for some reason.

Then I looked around, confirming there was no one nearby.

My heartbeat picked up a little. I seriously considered whether this was the kind of experiment that I should be conducting.

Then I remembered I was the same guy who tried growing a third flesh arm mere moments ago.

Yeah, I had no dignity left at this point.

I sighed a long sigh… and made the adjustment.

There was a strange sensation. It wasn’t painful. Just… so, so weird. I stopped moving and looked down.

Gulping, I then looked back up at the mirror. “Huh.”

That was it.

That was the scientific breakthrough.

I had successfully discovered that there were apparently some things that even if you had the power to change, you really, really did not need to.

So I immediately changed it back.

Some experiments were better left as experiments.

But then I was struck with another curiosity.

Another curiosity that, I had no doubt, all men had wondered about at least once in their lives!

And that was, “How would it feel to be a girl?”

…Yeah, fuck that. I wasn’t going to try that.

One, because I still had some dignity left. And two, because I didn’t want to go messing around with my bone and muscle structure just yet.

So, fixing my clothes and hiding the red-hot shame from my face, I grabbed a towel from the bench and wiped the sweat on my neck.

My body was sore. I made sure everything was alright, no internal injuries or something like that.

I guessed I had just pushed my power pretty hard.

On top of burning away a lot of Essence, constantly reshaping flesh seemed to take a toll on my body.

Apparently, even magic had its limits.

Who knew?

I started toward the showers, already thinking about dinner, knowing my friends were probably going to be starving by now since they had spent the entire day studying.

No, really.

At this point, I was certain Michael and Ray had both started seeing equations in their dreams. I’d walk in on them sleeping and find them murmuring math formulas.

I almost pitied them.

Shaking my head, I pushed open the door to the shower room, but stopped when I heard a sound.

“Sam, you there?”

I turned around, hearing the tak-tak-tak of something metallic tapping against the tiled floor long before I registered whose voice had called for me.

It was Alexia. With a long white cane in one hand, she entered the gym, eyes down and flicking her head side to side as if trying to hear where I was.

She looked like she was going to draw her Origin Card to look for me when I answered, walking up to her.

“Yeah, I’m here.”

Her head snapped in my direction. “Oh, good. I wanted to talk to you about Iron Height.”

I hesitated. “Are you going to tell me I’m stupid again? Because if it’s that, then I’m not interested.”

Alexia and Michael had both given me that lecture enough times for me to memorize it by heart. I was in no mood to hear it again.

Alexia rolled her sightless gray eyes. “No, I’m not. I have realized you can’t cure people of stupidity.”

I had enough friends. It wouldn’t matter if I strangled one or two, right?

While I was wondering that, Alexia reached into her pajamas’ pocket and pulled out a small object.

“It’s your birthday in three days. But you’ll be leaving before that, right?” She held her hand out, the small object resting in her palm. “So… I wanted to give you this before you go.”

I stared at it.

It was a small brooch, barely big enough to fit between two fingers.

It was made of silver, though not the dull, ordinary kind. The metal caught the overhead lights and reflected them in soft little flashes.

At its center was a tiny blue gemstone. A sapphire, maybe.

The gemstone was shaped like a little star, with four uneven points spreading outward from the center.

It was… pretty.

But that wasn’t why I was left speechless.

Giving brooches to the men going into war… was my family’s tradition.
