Chapter 262 - The Chaotic Reunion (1)
The delicate oriole was affectionate, the flowers and snow flowed gently, and the young man in a white robe with a silver spear surpassed the bright spring breeze.
Two years had passed in the blink of an eye, as if their last meeting had been just yesterday, and in the blink of an eye, the days and months slipped away.
He looked as clear and bright as before, but the gaze he cast toward her no longer carried the anxious heartaches of the past. It was as if they were meeting for the first time, but it made her heart ache suddenly.
He seemed not to recognize Zanxing anymore.
Chaotic footsteps approached from behind. A group of cultivators, having heard of the commotion, rushed over hastily. Zhao Jiaming’s fate had been turned upside down, and he discovered that his dantian was empty. He collapsed to the ground, his expression showing a hint of madness as he pointed at Zanxing and shouted sharply at Gu Baiying, “Kill her! She’s from the Demon Clan, kill her!”
“Demon Clan?” A cultivator looked towards Zanxing, his gaze suddenly fixed, disbelief etched in his voice as he called out her name, “Junior Sister Zanxing!”
Zanxing’s gaze swept over the group of cultivators, stopping momentarily on a few familiar faces, before falling silent.
“Is it really… Yang Zanxing?” A young boy in pink with two lotus flower hairpins couldn’t help but take a step forward, trying to get a clearer look at Zanxing.
The woman before them wore a deep indigo narrow-sleeved brocade robe, her long hair gently pinned up with a hairpin. Her skin was very white, and the dark indigo robe made her face appear as snow and jade.
Her face was fair and delicate, without a trace of scar.
She was quite stunning, with bright white teeth and starry eyes, graceful and unparalleled, with a hint of decisive elegance hidden within her gentle demeanor. Her long hair, pinned up with a hairpin, faintly shown a dark blue hue. Though her features were the same, her aura was entirely different. Compared to the vigorous and cheerful girl from two years ago, she now appeared quiet and beautiful, like a tree growing alone in the abyss.
And on her forehead, a small, vivid green begonia bloomed.
“The Blue Demon King’s Seal…” A cultivator behind her exclaimed in shock, “She has the bloodline of the Demon King!”
“The Demon King’s bloodline!” The extermination troops behind her were on high alert, tightly gripping their magical artifacts.
“Gu Baiying!” Zhao Jiaming shouted, “This female demon has killed a senior sister of the Xiang Ling Sect, injured people from the Yinfeng Sect, and has ruined my cultivation. Quickly kill her!”
Gu Baiying cast an impatient glance at him, seemingly disdainful of his attitude. “What’s all this fuss about? If you want revenge, do it yourself. I’m not your servant.”
Zhao Jiaming hadn’t expected Gu Baiying to be so dismissive and gritted his teeth. “Don’t forget why we’re here. We came to Mount Yue to eliminate demons. Are you going to let this demon escape? Hmph,” he suddenly seemed to remember something, sneering, “I just recalled, this female demon is called Yang Zanxing. The demon you had some entanglements with, wasn’t she also called Yang Zanxing? You’re still hung up on her and want to openly defy the sect again! You traitor!”
“Stop spouting nonsense and shut up,” Gu Baiying snapped his fingers, and Zhao Jiaming’s mouth was sealed shut, unable to utter a word. He then turned his gaze back to Zanxing and coldly spoke, “Yang Zanxing… are you the demon who deceived me?”
“Deceived?” Zanxing raised her eyebrows slightly. The boy behind Gu Baiying made a gesture, but she couldn’t understand it. However, given the situation, there was no need for an explanation.
When she had escaped from the Ten Thousand Killing Formation, she didn’t know what Gu Baiying had gone through. She had been forgotten by him, and now, as they met as strangers, he might have heard some unfavorable rumors about her.
The Demon Extermination Troops included disciples from the Chihua Sect, who began to shout, “Traitors aren’t fit to be leaders of the Demon Extermination Troops. If Gu Baiying is unwilling to act, we’ll take action ourselves!” With that, they brandished their swords and rushed toward Zanxing.
A silver spear suddenly blocked their way, and the burst of spiritual energy drove the Chihua Sect disciples back. Gu Baiying coldly said, “Let’s see who dares to make a move.”
A disciple from the Yinfeng Sect couldn’t help but speak up, “Fellow cultivator Gu, what do you mean by this? Are you protecting this demoness?”
“See, I told you he’s entangled with the demons!”
“And she even has the bloodline of the Demon King. Hmph, instead of being a decent person, he’s fallen in with the demons. I wouldn’t be surprised if the deaths of our sect’s brothers and sisters are related to him!”
“Traitor! Traitor!”
The clamor continued incessantly. Gu Baiying slammed the silver spear down. “Everyone shut up!” After a pause, he spoke with growing irritation, “I have something to ask her. If you kill her, who will I ask? You?”
The disciples he pointed out fell silent, as they had no idea about the specifics of Gu Baiying’s entanglements with Yang Zanxing.
“But my senior sister from the Xiang Ling Sect has already been killed by her,” Pu Tao from the Xiang Ling Sect stepped forward. The once young girl had now grown into a graceful and beautiful woman, more elegant than two years ago, with less of her previous youthful recklessness. She angrily said, “Are the lives of my Xiang Ling Sect’s disciples not lives?”
Zanxing replied, “I’ve said many times that your senior sister is not dead. I saved her.”
Another old acquaintance appeared. Nie Xinghong from the Yin Feng Sect waved his fan and, with a polite smile, said, “But how will you prove that?”
“Very well said,” Zanxing looked at him and smiled slightly, “But how will you prove that I’m the one who killed them? If I wanted to kill people,” her gaze drifted lightly over the group from the Yinfeng Sect, “they would already be dead.”
The cultivators shivered slightly, muttering, “You didn’t kill me because you want to take us back and torment us, not because you’re soft-hearted.”
“Enough of the nonsense,” Gu Baiying said, “Yang Zanxing, I don’t want to fight with you. Come with us, and once we’re done with our business, I have questions for you.”
Zanxing was somewhat surprised. Given Gu Baiying’s past temperament, if he had known she was from the Demon Clan, he would have likely attacked as soon as they met in the mountains. The fact that he had spoken so much and hadn’t fought her yet was very unlike him. However, Zanxing wasn’t arrogant enough to think that Gu Baiying, who had lost his memory, was showing leniency due to a sudden infatuation.
She pulled her thoughts back and looked at the people before her. “What if I say no?”
Gu Baiying frowned and tightened his grip on the Xiu Gu spear.
Someone behind them, eager for chaos, shouted, “What’s the point of reasoning with a demon? We should just kill her! This demoness has the bloodline of the Demon King, her future power shouldn’t be underestimated. She may be young now, but it’s better to uproot this threat to the cultivation world before she grows into a major calamity!”
Meng Ying said quietly, “Can you defeat her?”
The disciple hesitated, then stubbornly retorted, “We can all attack together. It’s just a Demon King bloodline, what’s there to be afraid of?”
“Hahaha, how shameless of the cultivation world to say such things without blushing,” a woman’s eerie laughter suddenly rang out from the air. Accompanied by the fluttering of her dress, a woman holding white bones slowly descended beside Zanxing, licking her bright red lips. “So many cultivators, they must be delicious.”
