Chapter 38 - Leaving the Mountain (2)
Chapter 38 - Leaving the Mountain (2)
At the prohibition point of the Gufeng Mountain gate, Tian Fangfang and his companions were sitting at the entrance, waiting.
While Zanxing’s social skills were average, Tian Fangfang had excellent social skills. Therefore, he had several good brothers accompanying him, waiting at the mountain gate until dawn, intending to enter Gufeng Mountain as soon as the prohibition was lifted to search for Zanxing.
At the crow of the morning rooster, the mountain colors of Gufeng Mountain brightened.
Tian Fangfang, sitting under a tree, became energized and stood up, urging the people around him, “It’s dawn, it’s dawn! Let’s go, hurry up and go in!”
One of his disciples by his side yawned, “Brother Tian, why are you in such a rush? Don’t take offense, but you didn’t hear what those inner disciples said last night? Those who stay overnight in Gufeng Mountain generally don’t come back. And that Junior Sister Yang is still a girl, I’m afraid she’s already…”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Another person patted Tian Fangfang’s shoulder. “Brother Tian, don’t listen to this crow’s mouth talking nonsense. Junior Sister Yang has her own destiny. It’s hard to say, maybe she’s just missing an arm or a leg, but she’s still alive.”
Tian Fangfang’s eyes widened in urgency, “Stop the nonsense, hurry…”
Before he could finish his sentence, there was a sudden loud noise at the mountain gate ahead, accompanied by the gasping voice of a woman, “Heavens, I finally came out.”
Everyone looked towards the gate.
The woman emerging from the gate was disheveled, her clothes covered in twigs and mud, her long skirt now turned into a short one. Despite her appearance, she seemed spirited, holding a dazzling golden egg in her arms, steadying herself against a tree. Seeing the crowd at the gate, she was surprised, “Are you all here?”
“Junior Sister Zanxing!” Tian Fangfang rushed over, lifting her up, “Thank goodness, you’re alive!”
Zanxing patted his shoulder, gesturing for Tian Fangfang to calm down. Tian Fangfang released her, and the surrounding junior disciples crowded around, asking eagerly, “Junior Sister Yang, how do you feel? Are you feeling unwell?”
“Do you have any missing limbs or severe injuries?”
“It doesn’t seem like it. How did you spend the night on the mountain?”
Zanxing: “…”
She reached out, saying, “Hold on. Let me ask a question first. Where is Hua Yue?”
Tian Fangfang replied, “Senior Brother Hua Yue went back to rest last night. He should still be in the wooden building. Why are you looking for him?”
Zanxing smiled, handed the golden egg in her hand to Tian Fangfang, and said, “Hold this for me. I’ll be right back.” She then turned and walked towards the direction of the wooden building.
*
Early in the morning, disciples in the wooden building began to rise and groom upon hearing the crowing of the morning rooster.
From initially being unaccustomed to it to now rising with the rooster’s call, not much time had passed. The disciples who remained cherished this opportunity even more, and their cultivation efforts were particularly diligent.
Hua Yue got up from his bed, stretched lazily, and his room, near the cliff edge, allowed the morning sunlight to filter in from the terrace on the third floor, offering a breathtaking view that was beyond ordinary imagination.
Having just tied his hair and tidied his loose strands with water, and before he could even put on his outer garment, he heard a commotion outside. Furrowing his brows, Hua Yue glanced outside and opened the door, about to reprimand the disciples for their lack of manners and disturbing the peace. But as soon as he opened the door, a surge of murderous intent rushed towards him.
“Who goes there?” Hua Yue exclaimed, summoning his longsword. Upon seeing the person before him clearly, he couldn’t help but be surprised. “Yang Zanxing, you’re not dead?”
Zanxing smiled at him. “It’s a pity.” With those words, she attacked him with the iron staff in her hand.
Hua Yue met her attack with his sword.
Shocked to the core, Hua Yue found himself momentarily overwhelmed by Yang Zanxing’s onslaught, falling into a disadvantaged position. The only thought in his mind was how Yang Zanxing could possibly still be alive.
Ignoring the fact that even he had to avoid the miasma in the Black Marsh, and Zanxing had fallen into it right before his eyes. Moreover, spending the night in Gufeng Mountain without a scratch, this was unheard of in the history of Taiyan Sect for centuries.
And yet, Zanxing was only at the early Foundation Establishment stage!
Hua Yue’s gaze turned cold in an instant. “You must have some treasure on you.”
Otherwise, the current situation couldn’t be explained.
Zanxing retorted coldly, “That’s no reason for you to harm your fellow disciples!”
The swirling force of the approaching staff suddenly transformed into layers of overlapping flowers, each petal resembling a gentle blade, seemingly beautiful and alluring, yet hiding deadly intent, a perilous trap at every step. Hua Yue’s longsword could no longer advance, and the flowers seemed to form a maze. From within the maze, a staff suddenly shot out, fiercely aiming for his throat.
Under winds generated by the fierce staff, Hua Yue found himself unable to evade.
At the critical moment, a spear tip suddenly appeared as an oblique thrust.
The spear tip was silver, like a silver streamer. With a gentle flick, Zanxing’s iron staff was redirected. Countless delicate flowers collided with the spear wind, instantly turning into a thousand streams of snow. It was as if it were winter, yet also like early spring. One couldn’t distinguish whether it was flowers like snow, or snow like flowers.
In just a moment, all the fierce attacks were resolved, the flower snow fluttered, the murderous intent dissipated, and in the tranquility of the world, the interweaving of flowers and snow added a touch of romance.
Zanxing was forced to retreat a few steps by the immense aura carried by the spear tip, before finally stabilizing herself and looking forward.
The silver spear danced in a circle, returning to its owner’s hand. The person standing in front turned around, revealing his face.
He was a young man of eighteen or nineteen, excessively handsome and somewhat arrogant. His long hair was tied up with red and white silk, his eyebrows were thick, his eyes a beautiful deep brown, exceptionally clear. His lips were also rosy. While the disciples of Taiyan Sect preferred elegant and ethereal robes, this young man wore a robe of pearl-colored cloud satin, with crimson cuffs and collar. The phoenix pattern on his chest was different from that of the other disciples, brightly colored and dazzling.
Due to his tall stature and handsome appearance, this robe with a narrowed waist and narrow sleeves stood out brightly among the other plain and dull disciples. It added a touch of vibrant color to the ethereal fairyland, making it impossible for people to look away at first sight.
He glanced at Zanxing, a hint of impatience in his eyebrows, his tone revealing neither pleasure nor anger: “Within the Taiyan Sect, disciples are not allowed to fight.”
Zanxing looked at the cool snowflakes in her hand and asked, “Snow?”
The young man looked at her somewhat unexpectedly and said, “Can’t you even see through illusions?”
Before he could finish speaking, Ziluo and Xuan Lingzi hurried over. Ziluo ran to Zanxing’s side, while Xuan Lingzi approached and loudly asked, “Who allowed you to fight here?” Then he asked the young man with concern, “Junior Brother, are you okay?”
The young man put away his silver spear, turned his head to look at Xuan Lingzi, and sneered, “Senior Brother, your judgment of disciples is getting worse.”
“Senior Brother?” Zanxing was puzzled.
Ziluo tugged at Zanxing’s sleeve and whispered, “This is our seventh senior uncle of the sect, Gu Baiying.”
