Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 409: Ice Cream!

Chapter 409: Chapter 409: Ice Cream!

It was a bitter truth, but an undeniable one.

Ivy’s past was too dark for anyone to erase. During those times, Silas had been the one who stayed by her side.

His stubborn presence ensured she was never truly alone. For that, they were both grateful and slightly resentful toward him.

Silas lifted Ivy’s hand and kissed the back of it softly. "You’ve lost weight."

Ivy rolled her eyes. "Every time you see me, you say that."

She scoffed lightly. "I’ve clearly gained weight."

As she spoke, she tried to pinch nonexistent fat on her arm, putting on a dramatic show.

Truthfully, even Ivy didn’t understand why she never gained weight at all. It wasn’t something to be happy about. After all, her weight barely hovered around sixty pounds.

It was far below the living threshold, something any normal doctor would immediately classify as severely underweight. In human terms, it was alarming.

Other doctors would have shaken their heads and quietly concluded that Ivy wouldn’t live long.

Even Ivy herself had once believed that. Her body felt light, fragile, as though a strong wind could snap her in half. No matter how much she ate or how hard she tried, her weight never increased.

’Maybe this is just how I am,’ she had once thought bitterly.

Just then, a sudden itch crawled across the back of her hand. Ivy stiffened. She knew that sensation far too well. Her powers were activating.

Without hesitation, she waved her hand casually. The world shifted.

In the next second, all of them appeared inside the temporal storage. The familiar stillness greeted them, the air cool and strangely comforting.

No one questioned Ivy. Whenever she was with her family, and that faint itch appeared, this always happened.

Anyone standing close to her would be dragged into the temporal storage along with her, whether they were prepared or not.

The moment they stabilized, packets began falling from above, thudding softly against the ground. One after another. The sound echoed like gentle rain.

Curious, Ember bent down and picked one up. Her eyes widened, and she nearly squealed.

"Ice cream!" she exclaimed, holding it up like treasure.

The word alone sent a ripple through the group. Ice cream. In this unbearable heat, it was something people only dreamed of.

Everyone rushed over instinctively, their expressions lighting up.

Even Ivy was stunned. She stared at the growing pile, flavors spilling into view one after another. Mango. Raspberry. Strawberry. Chocolate. Vanilla.

There were so many varieties that greed sparkled shamelessly in everyone’s eyes.

Ivy didn’t stop them. She reached out, picked a strawberry-flavored one, and peeled it open. The cold seeped into her fingers. As she took her first bite, her eyes nearly closed on their own.

’It’s been so long,’ she thought, savoring the sweetness melting on her tongue.

For nearly thirty-five minutes, the products continued to fall. When they finally stopped, Ivy moved efficiently. Without hesitation, she stocked half of everything into the grocery store.

By now, she had accumulated so many supplies that even if her powers vanished one day, even if the temporal storage disappeared entirely, she could survive for a decade in the apocalypse without worry.

Rice, grains, vegetables, ice creams, bento packs, instant noodles. Even medicines had been stocked to an absurd degree.

At first, Ivy had worried that selling supplies would eventually drain her reserves. But the temporal storage always made exceptions for her.

It allowed her to keep half while continuously multiplying the rest, ensuring she never truly suffered a loss. And now, as her capacity increased, she realized she could retrieve nearly three times more supplies than before.

Looking at the ice cream pile, Ivy smiled faintly. ’I wonder how the base citizens will react.’

Far away from her, as usual, Moona and Maxi entered the shop. Earlier, they had already handed over the apple to the research team, convinced it held significant research value.

The moment they stepped inside, their eyes landed on a newly stocked section. Their steps slowed, then instinctively veered toward it.

When they saw the ice cream, both of them froze.

For a heartbeat, they simply stared. Then, without another word, they grabbed an absurd amount and stuffed it into their basket.

"This base is truly magical," Moona murmured in disbelief. "How does it even have ice cream?"

Maxi rolled her eyes lightly. "Ask fewer questions and enjoy the blessing."

Moona nodded in agreement, and the two of them returned to their apartment. For now, they hadn’t rented the tower. They had enough food, enough time, and enough freedom to breathe.

The moment mango and strawberry ice cream melted in their mouths, both of them closed their eyes in relief.

Even though extreme heat didn’t affect bees as much as humans, they couldn’t deny how badly they had craved something cold and sweet.

Meanwhile, far away, in the main grocery store, Ron appeared as usual to collect bento packs for the people waiting in line. His eyes drifted unconsciously toward a stack of ice cream packs. They brightened instantly.

He thought of the people standing outside, many of them parched and exhausted despite having water. Without hesitation, he walked up to the shopkeeper.

"Can the limit be increased?" he asked. "Maybe ice cream can be added as a benefit."

The shopkeeper glanced at him calmly. "I’ll ask Martha about it tomorrow."

Satisfied, Ron turned back. Since he worked as a base personnel responsible for food distribution, he was granted special privileges. Of course, there were limits, but ice cream fell well within them. He took a few packs and headed home.

The first thing he did was hand one cup to his little sister. She was being looked after by a neighboring aunt named June.

June was kind, gentle, and had plenty of free time after her morning work, so she often babysat Ron’s sister.

Because Ron was a basic worker, anyone who helped care for his family received extra privileges. That was how Aunt June came to benefit as well.
