Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 557: Ivy’s Brother

Chapter 557: Chapter 557: Ivy’s Brother

For a second, darkness threatened to swallow his consciousness.

But then a single name flashed through his mind.

’Ivy... Ivy will help me...’

Clinging desperately to that thought, Damien turned around and began running toward the base entrance as fast as his shaking legs allowed.

Not far away, Felix stood silently beside Annie’s mother, who had already fainted.

Even though the entity now had control over her body, Felix knew it would still take time before the superior being could completely dominate it. The possession was not instantaneous.

Felix remained quiet for a moment as realization slowly dawned on him.

Without hesitation, he immediately bound Annie’s mother’s hands and feet tightly.

Just as he prepared to drag her body away from the location, a figure suddenly rushed toward him.

Felix’s eyes sharpened instantly.

He recognized the person at once.

It was James.

Anger erupted inside Felix like a spark hitting dry powder. Without wasting a second, he lifted his fist and lunged toward James.

James, however, had clearly been waiting for this moment.

He stepped forward and countered Felix’s attack.

The two clashed violently.

Felix gritted his teeth as their fists collided.

"I never thought you could act this despicably!"

"Despicable?" James roared back, fury blazing in his eyes.

His attacks suddenly became even faster, each strike cutting through the air like a blade.

"You only know how to judge from above because you have no idea what I’ve suffered!"

His breathing grew rough as years of suppressed resentment burst out of him.

"Do you even know how long I’ve endured your condescending attitude, Felix?! I’m sick of it!"

With that, he threw himself fully into the fight.

But compared to Felix, who possessed far greater flexibility and combat instinct, James stood little chance. In only a few exchanges, Felix easily subdued him.

Within seconds, Felix twisted James’s arms and pinned them tightly with his own grip.

James struggled fiercely. "Let go!"

Felix only chuckled coldly.

However, when Felix turned his head toward the demon’s previous location to check on the situation, his expression froze.

Annie’s mother’s body... had vanished.

Felix’s brows immediately knitted together into a deep frown.

Slowly, he turned his gaze back toward James.

James was staring at him with a wide grin on his face, the kind of grin someone wore after successfully completing something important.

Felix’s frown deepened. "How can you be this stupid, James?"

His voice carried both anger and disbelief.

"Why would you even help that damn thing in the first place?"

Felix had seen the soul exchange with his own eyes, yet something deep inside his instincts kept screaming a single conclusion.

The cloaked man’s ritual had something to do with souls.

His mind replayed fragments of what he had heard earlier.

Words like "exchange the soul"...

Even his own name had been included in the incantation, followed by another strange name he had not clearly caught because of how tense the moment had been.

Still, Felix was certain of one thing.

The ritual had been meant to transfer souls.

The cloaked man had intended to replace Felix’s soul with another.

But at the final moment, Annie’s mother had appeared between them... and the entire process had gone wrong.

Instead of Felix, the entity had ended up inside Annie’s mother’s body.

Now only one question burned inside Felix’s mind.

Why was James helping that entity so desperately?

James remained silent for a long moment.

In truth, when he had first received power from the entity, he had made a pact. A binding statement.

As long as the superior being was in danger... He would protect it.

Even if it cost him his life.

James had already done everything voluntarily.

A part of him still felt reluctant, a faint resistance lingering deep inside his chest like a dull ache that refused to disappear.

Yet that reluctance was meaningless now. What had been done could not be undone.

So he simply stared at Felix.

Felix’s expression was filled with frustration, his jaw clenched so tightly that the muscles near his temples twitched.

Without even a moment of hesitation, he grabbed James and began dragging him toward the base entrance.

James struggled instinctively at first.

His feet scraped harshly against the rough ground, the dust rising with every forced step, and the friction burned faintly against his skin.

Yet no matter how much he resisted, Felix’s grip was like iron shackles.

After a few moments, James slowly stopped struggling.

His shoulders slumped slightly.

’There’s no point...’

He allowed Felix to drag him wherever Felix wanted.

Meanwhile, Damien had already reached the base entrance and was trying to push his way inside.

However, the guards stationed there immediately stepped forward and blocked his path without hesitation.

"You need to stay in line."

Damien’s vision was still spinning faintly from the earlier incident, his consciousness only half stable.

Yet during those chaotic moments, fragments of knowledge had resurfaced in his mind.

He now knew one important thing. This base belonged to Ivy.

The moment that realization settled in his mind, anger erupted inside him like a sudden flame.

His face twisted with fury as he glared at the guards standing in front of him.

"Who do you think you are?"

His voice rose sharply, filled with arrogance.

"How dare you stop me? Do you even know who I am?!"

The guards exchanged confused glances with one another, clearly baffled by his sudden outburst.

Seeing their silence, Damien puffed out his chest proudly and spoke again, his tone dripping with superiority.

"I am Ivy’s brother."

His chin lifted higher as if the title alone was enough to command the world.

"If you don’t treat me properly, then just wait until Ivy hears about this. You’ll definitely get a scolding."

The guards looked at each other again, their expressions now mixed with doubt and unease.

One of them scratched his head slightly.

"Strange... we’ve only heard that Felix and Kael are Ivy’s brothers. We’ve never heard about someone named Damien."

Damien’s impatience grew instantly.

He waved his hand dismissively and snapped back at them.
