Chapter 588: Bento
Chapter 588: Chapter 588: Bento
Henry chuckled lightly, shaking off the lingering cold. "Of course." He smirked faintly. "Ivy packed it herself. I don’t even know how much she put in there... but knowing her, it’s definitely a lot."
Then, remembering something, he took out the temperature balls and handed them out.
Everyone stared at them curiously.
The spheres looked like darkened water droplets, smooth, slightly translucent, yet deeper in color, as if something was sealed within them.
"What are these?" Chloe asked, turning one over in their hand.
Henry gestured casually. "Temperature-control balls. Just squeeze them, and they’ll adjust the temperature around you."
Hearing that, they exchanged glances before trying it out. One by one, the balls vanished as they were crushed...and instantly, the cold receded.
A wave of warmth spread through the cave, soft and steady, dissolving the biting chill that had clung to their bodies.
Their eyes widened in shock. "This... actually works..."
Arial let out a relieved breath, quickly removing the extra layers of clothing that had weighed her down. Others followed, their tense expressions easing for the first time in hours.
Not far away, Silas, who had been meditating, slowly opened his eyes. The faint hum of energy around him shifted as he reached for one of the balls.
But instead of using it immediately, he paused. His gaze lingered on it. There was something... familiar. A subtle presence.
’...Ivy’s aura?’
He didn’t know how he could sense it, nor did he question it deeply. But one thing became clear to him. ’She is trying to help us in her own way?’
A faint warmth spread through his chest, different from the one the ball would provide.
Without another thought, he squeezed it.
The next moment, the air around him softened, turning perfectly balanced. A gentle breeze brushed against his skin, carrying a calm that made cultivation feel effortless.
He removed his extra clothing, his body relaxing as the environment stabilized.
Time passed. Four hours later, Silas opened his eyes again, his gaze clear and steady.
Around him, the others also stopped, their breathing gradually returning to normal. They had set a schedule... to pause at certain intervals for meals and rest.
Stretching slightly, they checked their bodies for injuries before regrouping. Silas then took out the temporary storage necklace, his movements smooth and practiced.
Without hesitation, he closed his eyes briefly before waving his hand. In the next instant, neatly packed bento appeared before them.
The moment everyone saw the food, their restraint shattered.
They lunged forward like a pack of starving wolves, grabbing one after another without hesitation.
Silas watched them, a faint, helpless smile forming as he shook his head slightly.
"Slow down," he murmured, his voice calm yet firm. "Make sure everyone gets one."
Only after ensuring that each person had taken their share did he finally reach out and take the last bento for himself.
The last bento box was different.
Silas had noticed it the moment his consciousness brushed against the contents of the temporal storage.
There had been something... distinct about it, something that quietly stood apart from the rest. ’This one...’ he thought, a faint warmth stirring in his chest, ’this one is hers.’
He reached for it slowly, his fingers brushing against the container. It felt no different from the others on the outside, yet the moment he opened it...a soft, comforting aroma escaped.
Warm rice, still slightly steaming. Dumpling soup, rich and fragrant, carrying a gentle scent of spices that lingered in the air.
A carefully prepared meat dish, glistening under the dim cave light. And beside it, a small container of freshly squeezed juice, its vibrant color standing out vividly.
It was... perfect. The moment the lid lifted, every head in the cave turned toward him. Their eyes widened almost instantly.
"That... doesn’t look like ours," Jack muttered, leaning forward with narrowed eyes.
"That’s because it isn’t," Scarlett added, her lips curling into a teasing smile.
Soon, the others gathered around, their earlier exhaustion replaced by curiosity and mischief.
"Ohhh..." Chloe dragged out the sound dramatically, a grin spreading across her face. "Look at that."
"So this is how it is, huh?" Amelia chimed in, crossing her arms while smirking. "We get normal bento packs... and someone gets a royal feast."
Aiden couldn’t help but laugh softly. "Seems like someone’s wife loves him a little too much."
Their teasing grew louder, filling the cave with a rare warmth that had nothing to do with the temperature balls.
Henry chuckled, clearly enjoying the scene. "Not just a little," he added playfully. "That’s a whole different level."
Silas merely smiled, though there was a faint, almost unnoticeable softness in his eyes. "What can I do?" he replied lightly. "My wife just loves me too much."
The moment those words left his mouth... Everyone rolled their eyes.
"Shameless," Jack muttered.
"Absolutely shameless," Chloe added immediately.
Aiden, who had been quietly observing from the side, couldn’t help but glance toward Scarlett. For a brief second, their eyes met... and he quickly looked away, a faint blush creeping onto his face.
Scarlett noticed.
Her brows furrowed slightly as she turned her gaze elsewhere, pretending not to care. ’What’s wrong with him...?’ she thought, a hint of irritation rising. ’Why is he blushing while looking in my direction?’
Yet, despite her thoughts, a faint warmth had already crept onto her own cheeks.
Not far away, Amelia and Henry exchanged subtle glances, a quiet understanding passing between them as they watched the others.
Meanwhile...Jack and Chloe looked at each other. And instantly, both of their expressions twisted into pure disdain.
Chloe made a face as if she were about to gag. "Ugh."
Jack rolled his eyes in response. "Like I’d care."
To anyone else, it looked like simple annoyance. But the truth was far more complicated.
Back in their childhood, Chloe had liked Jack first. She had even gathered the courage to confess, but before she could, she overheard him casually saying, "She’s just a friend."
