Chapter 682: Yet
Chapter 682: Yet
Meanwhile, Ivy merely chuckled coldly.
"I’m not here to pamper you," Ivy said casually. "Tell the truth. Otherwise, I can become far more ruthless than this."
Hearing those words, Ariana’s anger instantly weakened beneath her fear.
"Consuming powdered gold causes extreme drowsiness," Ariana admitted quietly. "After that, intense pain and discomfort spread throughout the body. Sometimes people even become extremely violent during the process."
Hearing that, Ivy nodded thoughtfully.
Ariana continued speaking nervously.
"That only happens because the metals here are impure compared to the materials from our world."
The moment she heard that statement, Ivy immediately caught the important detail.
"The metals?" Ivy repeated sharply while narrowing her eyes. "Are you saying superior beings consume other types of metals as well?"
Ariana glanced faintly at Ivy before finally nodding weakly.
"Yes," Ariana admitted quietly. "Metals contain minerals that are extremely important for our bodies."
Hearing that, Ivy slowly narrowed her eyes in understanding.
At this point, many things were beginning to make sense to her.
The so-called superior beings clearly did not possess abundant food resources in their own world.
Whatever resources their ancestors had left behind would eventually run out, especially for beings who constantly consumed enormous amounts of energy simply to survive and cultivate.
By consuming metals and extracting minerals from them, they were essentially creating an alternative food source for themselves.
At the very least, it allowed them to survive.
Looking directly at Ariana, Ivy calmly asked,
"Wouldn’t that create problems with lifespan eventually?"
The moment she heard that question, Ariana suddenly chuckled weakly despite her miserable condition.
"Lifespan?" Ariana muttered as though the concept itself amused her. "That is something we rarely worry about."
Ivy remained silent while listening.
Ariana continued speaking slowly.
"In our world, there are beasts filled with essence energy. After killing those beasts, we obtain their essence cores. Once we absorb those cores, our cultivation increases."
As she spoke, a faint trace of pride unconsciously appeared in her eyes again.
"And as cultivation increases," Ariana continued softly, "our lifespan increases too. So lifespan was never really considered a major problem for us."
Hearing that explanation, Ivy finally understood why these superior beings treated human life so lightly.
Their perception of time and death was completely different from ordinary humans.
"So..." she asked. "What about the portal? Has it already been opened?"
The moment that question was asked, Ivy instantly noticed the subtle guilt flashing across Ariana’s face.
Ariana quickly looked away before muttering softly,
"No... the portal hasn’t opened yet."
The second the word "yet" left Ariana’s mouth, Ivy immediately caught onto it.
Her sharp eyes narrowed dangerously.
"Yet?" Ivy repeated slowly. "Does that mean someone has already been instructed to open it?"
Ariana immediately shook her head.
However, this time her reaction came slightly too quickly.
A few seconds later, she sighed helplessly, clearly realizing she had already exposed something important.
At that moment, Ivy instantly understood that something was wrong.
Thinking back carefully, Aunt June was already completely under their control. That meant Ariana could not possibly rely on her to open the portal anymore.
If that possibility was eliminated, then only one explanation remained.
Ivy slowly stared at Ariana with an increasingly cold gaze before asking calmly,
"Can this portal open automatically at a specific time interval? Or can you set the timing for when the portal is to be opened?"
The moment that question entered Ariana’s ears, her eyes widened with genuine shock.
For the first time, she truly understood why Ivy absolutely needed to die.
This woman was terrifying.
In Ariana’s eyes, Ivy resembled the royal strategists from their own world. She possessed the same terrifying sharpness, the same ruthless decisiveness, and perhaps even greater cruelty than the royalty themselves.
Most importantly, Ivy was intelligent enough to uncover critical truths from the smallest details.
If someone like her remained alive, then the royal family itself could eventually fall into danger.
And if the royalty became threatened, then their entire world would become vulnerable as well.
Thinking about that terrifying possibility, Ariana slowly closed her eyes.
Meanwhile, Ivy merely chuckled softly after seeing Ariana’s reaction.
The next second... smack!
Her palm struck Ariana’s face hard once again.
Ariana instantly opened her eyes and glared at Ivy furiously. Veins bulged across her neck as she began struggling violently against the restraints.
The metal cuffs rattled loudly against the bed.
"Once I get out of here," Ariana shouted hoarsely, "I will definitely make you regret this! You bitch!"
Ivy looked at her calmly without the slightest fear.
"You need to survive first," Ivy replied coldly.
Then, without hesitation, she picked up another syringe filled with the strange milk-like liquid.
The moment Ariana saw it, all the anger on her face instantly collapsed into fear.
"N-No..." Ariana whispered shakily.
Unfortunately for her, Ivy had already pushed the needle into her arm.
The liquid entered her bloodstream almost immediately.
Within seconds, Ariana’s entire body began convulsing violently.
A burning sensation exploded through her veins like molten fire spreading beneath her skin.
"Ahhhh!"
A broken scream escaped her lips.
Tears instantly gathered in her eyes as her body trembled uncontrollably against the restraints.
At that moment, Ariana truly regretted everything.
Seeing her condition, even Paris and Siya could not help feeling slightly uncomfortable.
However, Ivy felt almost no sympathy toward her.
After all, this woman had personally participated in the deaths of more than five hundred humans. Not to mention Robert and Ian.
Compared to those countless victims, Ariana’s suffering meant very little.
After finishing the injection, Ivy prepared to leave the room.
However, Paris suddenly spoke up. "There is something I want to ask."
Ivy paused before turning around slowly.
Paris looked directly at her before asking carefully,
"Why are you torturing us this much?"
Even Siya quietly looked toward Ivy at that moment.
Paris hesitated briefly before continuing.
"There must be a reason, right? Otherwise... this level of torture feels almost inhuman. You’re nearly killing her."
For a moment everyone fell silent.
