Chapter 849: Blueprints
Chapter 849: Chapter 849: Blueprints
Valer rubbed his forehead indignantly, but he wisely decided not to argue with his sister.
Eugenia continued,
“This year, the developers introduced a new system in which the resources allocated to each player depend on their blood compatibility. The higher your compatibility, the better the resources you receive.”
She glanced at Valer with exasperation and helplessness before continuing.
“As it happens, this guy has relatively high blood compatibility, so under the new system, he should have received enough resources to gain a considerable advantage over most of the other students. However, the developers also wanted to give everyone a fair opportunity to compete. Therefore, they introduced a partnership system that allows players to team up with high-level players from their own server.”
Ivy listened attentively, beginning to understand why the new rules had created so much trouble for Valer.
Eugenia sighed before explaining the final part of the problem.
“Unfortunately, our mother has always prevented us from establishing connections with high-level players. She deliberately kept us away from those circles and discouraged us from building relationships with people who might have helped us. As a result, we barely know anyone with sufficiently high blood compatibility who could partner with us in the game.”
Upon hearing this explanation, Ivy nodded slowly.
The situation was beginning to make sense, although she still couldn’t understand why Valer had sounded as though his life were coming to an end.
Valer, who had been listening to his sister’s explanation, finally spoke again.
“At first, I wasn’t particularly worried about it. I thought I could easily find a suitable partner, so I arrogantly chose someone whose blood compatibility was only seventy-nine percent. Although that wasn’t considered royal-level compatibility, seventy-nine percent was still an impressive figure, so I agreed to partner with that person.”
He paused, his expression growing increasingly bitter as he remembered his decision.
“Unfortunately, I didn’t realize how badly that choice would affect my ranking.”
Who would have thought that seventy-nine percent blood compatibility would turn out to be practically useless? As if that weren’t enough, the game had recently introduced another feature that allowed players to manifest the superpowers they possessed in real life within the virtual world.
Ivy blinked in surprise, finding the concept increasingly fascinating. “What a mysterious game!”
Eugenia chuckled at her reaction before explaining further.
“Well, you might be even more surprised after playing it yourself. This game has a special rule: as long as you gain power within the game, you might eventually be able to bring that power into your real life. That is one of the main reasons our current king has been promoting this game so enthusiastically.”
Ivy’s eyes widened as she tried to process what she had just heard.
“What? Aren’t games developed by app developers, such as those who create Android applications? How can a game possibly possess the ability to grant people real powers?”
This time, Eugenia was the one who looked surprised.
“What? Developers who are that?”
Ivy blinked at her, genuinely confused by the question. “App developers, of course! Aren’t they the people responsible for creating all these electronic devices and applications?”
For a moment, both Eugenia and Valer stared at her as though she had just said something utterly ridiculous. Then, unable to contain themselves any longer, they burst into laughter.
“Ivy, you are truly too naive!” Eugenia exclaimed between laughs. “You even look cute when you act like this!”
Ivy blinked in bewilderment, her confusion only deepening as she watched them laugh.
“No, seriously, what is it, then? Why are both of you laughing at me?”
Valer finally managed to stop laughing long enough to shake his head in disbelief.
“You are so clueless that I don’t even know where to begin explaining!”
Valer immediately turned toward Eugenia and gave her a light smack on the back.
However, Eugenia was still laughing so hard that she could barely catch her breath.
Before either of them could continue, Catherine appeared behind them and struck both of her children on the head.
“Have the two of you completely forgotten how to behave? Is this how you treat a guest who has come to help our family?”
Her sharp voice immediately silenced the room, and the two siblings instinctively lowered their heads beneath their mother’s disapproving gaze.
Eugenia was the first to recover. She glanced at Ivy with an apologetic expression and quickly said, “I’m sorry, Ivy. We shouldn’t have laughed at you like that.”
Ivy, however, was still utterly confused about what had been so amusing in the first place.
Catherine sighed, rubbing her forehead as though her children had given her another headache. She then gestured toward a nearby seat and asked Ivy to sit down.
Once Ivy had settled comfortably, Catherine studied her for a moment before speaking in a serious tone.
“Have you ever wondered what kind of power you will receive once you ascend the throne?”
Ivy shook her head, indicating that she had never given the matter much thought.
Catherine nodded as though she had expected that answer.
“Then let me explain how things work. Once you ascend the throne, you will mysteriously receive blueprints for various advanced technologies. These blueprints are among the most valuable treasures of our civilization, because they allow the ruler to develop technology that would otherwise be almost impossible to create.”
She paused briefly, allowing Ivy to absorb the information before continuing.
“Each blueprint requires certain materials to activate. Some might demand rare resources such as lithium or terraterrium, while others may require entirely different materials. All you need to do is gather the required resources and place them on the corresponding blueprint. Once the conditions are met, the blueprint will establish a production facility capable of manufacturing that particular item in large quantities, provided you continue supplying it with sufficient materials.”
Ivy listened attentively, her mind already beginning to imagine the possibilities of such technology.
Catherine gestured toward Ivy’s wrist.
“Take the identification bracelets you and the others are wearing as an example. They aren’t simply devices invented by ordinary researchers. Their technology originated from blueprints discovered by previous generations of kings. These blueprints have shaped the development of our entire civilization.”
She leaned back slightly, her expression becoming more contemplative as she explained the scale of the system.
“Throughout a king’s lifetime, the number of blueprints they can receive may reach as many as one million, although the actual number of blueprints they successfully turn into functioning products depends on their abilities, resources, and the time they have available. Most kings manage to bring only around a hundred blueprints into reality during their reign, which is generally considered the average achievement.”
Valer, who had been listening quietly, nodded in agreement.
Catherine continued, “The most exceptional king in our recorded history managed to transform an extraordinary number of blueprints into actual products, reaching the legendary milestone of one million. However, we cannot be certain that one million is the total number of blueprints available. There may be even more waiting to be discovered.”
She paused, her gaze becoming distant as she recalled the records she had studied.
“Some kings have managed to complete only a thousand blueprints, while others have reached fifty thousand. Nevertheless, no one has ever matched the legendary achievement associated with the first king, who possessed the highest blood compatibility.”
Ivy frowned slightly as she considered the information.
‘So the throne doesn’t merely grant political authority. It also provides access to technology that can transform an entire civilization.’
Catherine noticed her thoughtful expression and smiled faintly before asking, “Do you know what blood compatibility actually means?”
Ivy looked up at her.
“I thought blood compatibility simply indicated how closely someone’s blood was related to the royal bloodline.”
Catherine pursed her lips, a small smile appearing on her face. She had once held the same belief herself, so she understood why Ivy would think that way.
However, she gently shook her head.
“That is a common misunderstanding. Blood compatibility has a much deeper origin than most people realize.”
She adjusted her posture and began recounting the history that had shaped their civilization.
“Long ago, this entire planet was barren. There were no magnificent cities, no advanced machines, and none of the technological wonders you see around you today. The planet was little more than an empty world with limited resources and harsh living conditions.”
Her voice softened slightly as she continued, almost as though she were recounting an ancient legend.
“During that time, there lived a man who was exceptionally kind, honest, and loyal. He was a devoted worshipper of the gods and goddesses, and his faith was so sincere that he eventually received a mysterious power. That power allowed him to inherit blueprints for advanced technologies.”
