Chapter 627: Lucrative Job ( 1 )

Chapter 627: Lucrative Job ( 1 )

Before Feng Yun opened the lunch box, Jiang Lixin entered the ward, followed by a doctor and several nurses. When they saw Feng Zhen, they were surprised. Based on their experiences, the possibility of his recovering had been almost zero.

Jiang Lixin greeted Feng Yun and went to check on Feng Zhen’s condition. After a moment, she smiled and said, "This is a miracle. I never expected him to recover completely."

The doctor also checked on Feng Zhen and could not help but ask, "Comrade Feng, did your family do something to him? How did he recover so fast?"

"We hired a healer," Feng Yun said.

Hearing this, the doctor let out a sigh and stopped asking.

If Feng Zhen’s condition had improved because of medicine, he would have done his best to learn and find a way to obtain more medicine to save more patients. Unfortunately, his condition had improved because of an ability-user.

Not everyone was able to hire a healer. Not only because the fee high, but finding a high-level healer also requires connections. Therefore, the chance for ordinary people to meet them was very low.

While Feng Zhen underwent a series of check-ups, Jin Xuyan was currently having breakfast with Xun Che in his office.

At this moment, Xun Che was reading the report written by Li Sikai with a deep frown. This report contained information about the situation in Zhuji City and the group under Jiang Ziyi.

When he finished reading the report, he looked at Jin Xuyan and asked, "Old Jin, what do you plan to do next?"

Jin Xuyan had already learned about the Facility’s hidden laboratory from his fiancée. "I plan to check out the Facility’s hidden laboratory. But before that, I need your help."

Xun Che did not ask about the Facility’s location since he knew that if Jin Xuyan was willing to share the information, he would have told him by now. "What do you want me to do?" he asked.

After he finished his coffee, Jin Xuyan said, "It has been more than five months since the apocalypse, but the situation in other cities is not improving at all."

"Judging from the situation in Pingjiang City and Zhuji City, the number of survivors is less than what we expected. Although there are supplies scattered around the city, they are mostly concentrated in the red areas. Rather than leaving those supplies to rot, it is better for us to take them."

Tapping his fingers on the armrest, Xun Che replied, "While our base can do that, the effort needed to transport those supplies alone makes it not worth it."

Hearing this, Jin Xuyan smiled and asked, "Who said we could only transport it back to our base? Aren’t there a lot of small groups of survivors in those cities who are willing to buy supplies?"

The moment he heard this, a thought flashed through Xun Che’s mind. "You want me to get those supplies and sell them to these people?" he asked.

Jin Xuyan nodded and explained, "On one hand, we can build our base’s reputation and earn money. On the other hand, we can use this to give those people motivation to go out and clear the zombies and mutants. If those things are left unattended, they will become a hidden danger for everyone, including us."

After he heard this, Xun Che went silent and became lost in thought. He considered the pros and cons for a while before he asked, "Old Jin, what exactly do you plan to do?"

He had known this man for years and knew that he was not a good person. He became a soldier not out of patriotism or nationalism. It was purely for his own hidden agenda and selfish motives.

For him to suddenly suggest this plan meant he had a reason. Saving those survivors was merely an additional benefit.

Spreading his arms, Jin Xuyan replied casually, "I do not have other motives. You know that compared to before the apocalypse, our current population is only around thirty percent."

"It means that seventy percent of the population is either dead or has become zombies. With the addition of mutants and zombie animals, it will be difficult for us to survive if more and more people turn into zombies. We need more people to help us clear those hidden dangers."

Xun Che narrowed his eyes as he stared at his old friend. He did not believe his words at all and knew that he was hiding something. But he had no evidence to prove it.

In the end, he could only say, "I will inform my people and let them handle this matter."

Jin Xuyan nodded and stood up. Before leaving, he added, "If possible, try to let those people use the points system. This way, our points can be used outside the base, and it can lessen the burden on crystal cores usage."

"I know."

When he was alone, Xun Che made a phone call to his assistant and said, "Arrange a meeting with the department heads in half an hour. Also, invite Comrade Feng He to my office."

"Understood."

After hanging up the call, he thought about Feng Yun’s family situation and drafted a contract. Feng He had been an entrepreneur before the apocalypse.

Although he could not compare to those aristocratic families, his company was still one of the top twenty in the capital. As someone who started from scratch, his ability was undoubtedly good for him to have reached success in his middle-aged years.

Having a ready-made CEO, he only needed to provide guards and collect the supplies. The rest could be left to Feng He to handle. If he were able to pull him into his team, he would not have to worry about expanding their points system and recovering the economy.

With this thought, Xun Che added two more points to the contract that would benefit Feng He. When he was done, he asked his secretary to print out the contract.
