Chapter 634: Intuition
Chapter 634: Intuition
The guard thought that he would be reprimanded, but after a long time, he only heard his Captain say, "Captain Ma must have received an order from my father. We only have to complete our task well and not bother with other matters."
Although the guard still felt that, as the Commander’s son, Pei Yijun should take measures to stop future trouble, he didn’t dare to go against his order. So, he could only nod and leave the office.
When he was alone, Pei Yijun took out his satellite phone and dialed a number. Soon after the call was connected and Li Jing’s voice was heard, "Hello."
"Uncle Li, it’s me, Yijun. How is the progress of the base?"
"Thanks to the people you sent over, the progress has sped up, and we might be able to finish the wall in three weeks at the fastest."
Hearing this, Pei Yijun told him the situation in the base and added, "We might be unable to send more people from Jiangning. I will ask Li Yang and Miaomiao to recruit more workers from Lin’an City."
"Yijun, it is better for me to contact Li Yang. After all, your current position is inconvenient. If your father found out about this base, you might be in danger."
Pei Yijun thought for a moment and agreed. "Then I will have to trouble you, Uncle Li."
"You have saved my family and me. This is what I want and ought to do. If you need anything, just tell me. No need to be so polite."
"Thank you, Uncle Li."
After the brief conversation, Pei Yijun hung up the call and looked outside the window. His father was not in the base, and no one knew his whereabouts. Without his father present, this was the best time for him to take action.
He could have packed up and left this place with his people, but thinking about his sister’s words, he decided to dig deeper. No matter what the price, he wanted to find out what his father’s secret was.
Clenching his fists, he muttered in a low voice, "Father, I hope Yixie was wrong about you."
While a storm was brewing silently in the Jiangning City base, five days had passed in the blink of an eye.
Early in the morning, the news about Xun Che hiring Feng He as the Head of the Trade and Commerce Department had spread throughout the entire base. While everyone was guessing what the Commander was planning, Jin Xuyan was satisfied with this.
Even though Feng He worked for Xun Che, he was Feng Yun’s father. With this layer of relationship, it would be easier for them to get information about the Lin’an City base’s political situation.
At ten o’clock, Jin Xuyan went to visit Feng He with his fiancée. Today was the day they moved into their new house, and they invited the Phantom team to their housewarming party.
Since Xun Che had already prepared complete furniture for them, the Phantom team members decided to give them supplies, which were more practical.
When they arrived, the house was already crowded with guests. To fit his position as an executive in the base, Feng He was allocated a two-story villa equipped with solar panel generators.
After they pressed the doorbell, they waited for a moment before the gate was opened. Seeing them coming, Feng Yun said, "Captain, Sister-in-law, you are here. Please come in."
Both of them nodded at him and followed him to the house. While they walked, Jiao Lizhi observed the surroundings. While the yard was barren, the area was large enough for them to build a greenhouse to plant vegetables.
As they entered the villa, Jiao Lizhi couldn’t help but click her tongue. This villa was decorated beautifully; it was even equipped with a central air conditioner. Judging from this, one would know how much Xun Che appreciated Feng He.
When the guests saw them, they came to greet them. Besides the Phantom team, Feng He also invited Jiang Lixin and her husband, Chen Zhiyi. There were also Feng Yun’s family, Xiao Qi’s aunt, and Chen Qianxiao.
Not long after, Xun Che arrived with Wen Hanli and his trusted aides.
Only after everyone had arrived did they start the party. While it was called a party, it was actually a simple meal shared with friends and families.
While they ate, Shen Jinyue glanced at Feng Yun. But when she saw him distancing himself from her, she stopped looking and stayed with her mother instead.
As for Mo Junjie and Du Beiye, both of them were currently in a cold war and did not talk to each other. Yet Mo Junjie continued to follow her like a tail.
Sitting at the corner, Jiao Lizhi noticed these subtle behaviors and raised her eyebrows.
Noticing her amusement, Jin Xuyan asked, "Ah Zhi, what are you looking at?"
Jiao Lizhi pointed at the members and asked him back, "Brother Yan, what do you think happened between them?"
Jin Xuyan also noticed the strange atmosphere, but he was not one who liked to interfere with other people’s matters. He shook his head and replied, "I don’t know."
Looking at her sister’s cold expression, Jiao Lizhi rubbed her chin and said, "I wonder what Mo Junjie did that annoyed Beiye so much."
Hearing this, Jin Xuyan looked in their direction and said, "I did not see any expression on her. How did you know she was annoyed?"
"Intuition."
Jin Xuyan glanced at her and reminded her, "It is alright to watch the fun, but do not meddle in their business."
Jiao Lizhi knew that her sister was no longer a young girl, and she would learn more emotions as she interacted with more people. She could not teach her about this, nor could she shelter her from experiencing negative emotions.
So, she nodded and said with a smile, "I know."
While Jin Xuyan and Jiao Lizhi were having a small talk, Du Beiye was almost annoyed to death by Mo Junjie.
