Chapter 734: Lustin Volkov’s Request ( 2 )

Jin Xuyan nodded when he heard Lustin Volkov’s words and replied, "Commander Volkov, since my team has accepted this mission, this is what we should do."

When everyone heard him call the Vice Mayor "Commander," the survivors, especially the guards, were stunned. After a long silence, they finally regained their senses.

They had always thought they were part of the Tsardom Empire and had never thought of Lunar City as an independent base. Even after experiencing a near-death situation, they were still unwilling to separate from the Empire.

While they were still waiting for Lustin Volkov to correct Jin Xuyan, they heard him say, "Captain Jin, I still need to ask you for a favor."

The survivors were surprised by his words. Did the Vice Mayor want to rebel and become independent?

Ignoring the survivors’ reactions, Jin Xuyan said, "Commander Volkov, feel free to speak your mind."

Lustin Volkov glanced at everyone and said, "In the next few days, a group of elite soldiers sent by the Great General of the Tsardom Empire, Borislav Morozov, will arrive in Lunar City."

"Their mission is to burn the entire city and prevent any zombie cockroaches from going to another city. Even if we have solved the zombie cockroach problem, they won’t let this matter go. So, I need your team to stop them from burning the city."

The moment he finished his words, everyone let out a gasp. They couldn’t believe his words at all.

"Vice Mayor, is there any misunderstanding? The Great General might have sent them to rescue us. How could he order them to kill all of us?" one of the guards asked in disbelief.

Hearing this, Lustin Volkov turned to him and said, "Lord Tolstoy held a grand meeting to ask the parliament to send reinforcements to help us, but the parliament rejected his request."

"The parliament agreed to Borislav Morozov’s suggestion to burn the entire Lunar City to prevent more casualties. I received this information directly from Miss Kayla Stroganova. There is no mistake or misunderstanding. The Empire has abandoned us."

Taking a deep breath to calm his emotions, he continued, "If not for God blessing us and allowing us to contact the Lin’an City Base, and without the Phantom Team’s help, we would have either died from starvation or died under the zombie cockroaches’ attack."

After he finished his words, the entire area fell into a long silence.

Jin Xuyan and the members were not interested in the Tsardom Empire’s political struggle.

Since there was still time before winter, it was fine to stay and help them out. What’s more, they noticed that there were many granaries scattered around the city.

If they could collect all the supplies and give them to the Lunar Base, it would increase their chances of surviving the long winter.

With this thought, Jin Xuyan said, "Commander Volkov, I agree to your request. During our stay, we will go out and patrol the city, just in case we missed some zombie cockroaches."

The moment he heard this, Lustin Volkov’s eyes lit up. He looked at them and said with gratitude, "Thank you, Captain Jin. I have prepared a place for all of you. Please come with me."

As he led the Phantom Team to a three-story building, the news about the Grand General’s elite team coming to burn them alive spread widely throughout the entire base.

When they arrived at the temporary residence, the Phantom Team members started cleaning the building. This building was used as an office before the apocalypse.

The desks had been taken away by the survivors to be used as beds. What was left behind were chairs, cabinets, and other useless items.

Jiao Lizhi took everything into her space and helped clean the building using her water jet skill.

Unlike during the battle, she only used one finger, and the size of the water jet was as big as a hose. She also lowered the pressure so as not to cause any damage.

While she cleaned the house, Chen Qianfeng followed behind her and used his energy to control the water used by Jiao Lizhi. He turned the dirty water into a water ball, leaving only a slightly wet floor.

After they were done, Shen Jinzhe used his blue flame to dry the remaining water. It only took them 20 minutes to clean the entire building.

All this time, Lustin Volkov was there and witnessed their control over their abilities. He always thought that ability-users could only use their power to kill or destroy things. This was the first time he realized that abilities could be used like this.

Since they still had to stay here for a few days, Jiao Lizhi took out the furniture from her space and decorated the building. She only placed important furniture such as beds, chairs, a dining table, couches, and a low table.

When she was done, Jin Xuyan turned to Lustin Volkov and said, "Commander Volkov, you can go busy with your business. My team will find you if we need anything."

Hearing this, Lustin Volkov nodded and replied, "Then I won’t bother you any longer. Captain Jin, have a good rest."

"Thank you."

After he sent him off, he turned to the members and said, "There are still a lot of things we have to do. Everyone, take a bath. After dinner, we will go check on the survivors."

"Understood," the members replied in unison.

To save time, the male members decided to take a bath together in the backyard. As for the female members, there were 4 bathrooms in this building. Besides Jiao Lizhi, the rest of them chose a bathroom and went to take a shower.

The water used for bathing was provided by Jiao Lizhi, and she heated the water. Soaking in warm water after a tiring day was the most comfortable.

When she was done, she took out a small water tank filled with pond water for cooking. She placed the water tank in the kitchen and went to the 3rd floor.
