Chapter 738: Colluding
Chapter 738: Colluding
While the Phantom Team members were busy collecting grains and supplies, Borislav Morozov and his elite team were inspecting the explosives they managed to gather.
Looking at the boxes of explosives in front of him, Borislav Morozov frowned and asked, "Are these all of the explosives we have?"
The elite team’s Captain nodded. "Reporting to the Great General, the rest of the explosives are still being transported from other cities. If no unexpected things happen, we should be able to get all the explosives in the next 2 days."
After hearing his subordinate’s report, Borislav Morozov frowned and said, "3 days. It should be more than enough time for the zombie cockroaches to destroy the public hall and kill Lustin Volkov."
He thought for a while before he continued, "I want everything to be ready in 2 days. Before the zombie cockroaches go to other places, we have to kill them all and burn down Lunar City."
As soon as he said this, the elite team members nodded and replied in unison, "Understood."
After leaving the warehouse area, Borislav Morozov returned to his residence and went to his study room. Sitting behind his large desk, he made a phone call.
The call rang a few times before it was picked up. "General Morozov, it’s rare for you to contact me. Do you need anything?"
"Mr. Pei, you said that you would send a group of elite soldiers to help me take over the Empire. It has been several months already, but I didn’t even see you send a fly to me," Borislav Morozov said coldly.
After a moment of pause, he continued, "Mr. Pei, if you didn’t have any intention to cooperate, you shouldn’t have suggested this cooperation in the first place."
Not long after he said this, Pei Gan let out a chuckle and replied, "General Morozov, the elite soldiers will be ready in 5 days. I will send them over as soon as everything is ready."
"5 days? It’s too long. I need them in 2 days."
Hearing this, Pei Gan went silent for a moment before he said, "If you are worried that the zombie cockroaches will go to other places, you can rest assured. The Facility has a way to keep everything under control."
Although Borislav Morozov didn’t fully believe him, he didn’t refute him directly. After all, he was the 5th elder of the Huaxia branch. In the organization, his position was still above his.
"It’s better as you said."
After leaving these words, he hung up the call. Looking outside the window, he narrowed his eyes and imagined the wealth and glory he would obtain after taking over the entire Tsardom Empire.
Even without the grain stored in the Lunar City’s granaries, the grain stored in the hidden granaries was more than enough for him to control the parliament and military.
Unbeknownst to him, his hidden grain was being taken away by the Phantom Team while he was daydreaming.
After a whole day of collecting grains, the members returned to the Lunar Base.
Since they had agreed to only take 50%, Jiao Lizhi kept the grains she collected. As for the grains stored in Feng Yun, Xiao Qi, and Pei Yixie’s space, they were given to the base.
As for the grains collected from the hidden granaries, no one knew about it, so they were taken away by the Phantom Team.
When they returned to the temporary residence, it was already 8 o’clock in the evening. The members went to cook, while Jiao Lizhi stored all the supplies found by the second team. They would list the supplies before they divided them with the Lunar Base.
While they were busy at their place, the survivors were waiting impatiently for the first warm food they had had in months.
After Lustin Volkov borrowed supplies from the Phantom Team, he ordered the guards to build several bonfires and set up the stoves.
Since the survivors were having stomach problems and were malnourished due to hunger over the past months, he didn’t let them consume hard food anymore. Instead, they mixed rice and millet to cook porridge. To improve their strength, they also prepared steamed eggs and stir-fried vegetables.
Thanks to vacuum packing and being stored in space, the dried vegetables were not spoiled. After they soaked the dried vegetables, the taste was not much different from that of fresh vegetables.
When the first batch of food was ready, the survivors lined up in an orderly manner as they received their food. Although the steamed eggs were made using powdered eggs, it was better than nothing.
After so many months surviving on dry food, they almost forgotten the taste of warm food. Everyone ate in silence. Besides the sound of utensils, only sobs and prayers were heard in the entire hall.
Standing near the hall’s entrance, Lustin Volkov’s eyes reddened as he heard the prayers. They thought that the Empire and the Gods had abandoned them and that the zombies were the evil sent to punish them.
But when they were at the end of their hope, the Vice Mayor showed them the path toward the light. At this moment, the gratitude and worship they felt toward him were far more than what they felt toward the Tsar and God.
Seeing the morale of the people finally improving, Andrei Stroganova said, "Lustin, it’s time for you to make the decision."
"You know that the Morozov family has been colluding with other countries as he planned for the rebellion. If you keep dragging this out, we might not be able to ensure Lord Tolstoy’s safety," he added solemnly.
When he heard his maternal granduncle’s name, Lustin Volkov clenched his fists and said, "After we solve the elite team sent by Borislav, we will bring my granduncle over."
"I will inform my sister so she can make the preparations."
"Okay, I will leave this matter to you," Lustin Volkov agreed readily.
After their brief conversation, both of them joined the survivors for a meal. With warm food and no longer in a life-and-death situation, the survivors were finally able to have a good night’s sleep.
As for Lustin Volkov and his people, they had to stay up and work. The guards took turns keeping night watch.
