Chapter 792: New Categorization ( 4 )
After Jiao Lizhi left, the guards quickly informed their comrades, and soon after, a group of guards came over.
They divided the supplies and returned to their posts. They also kept two-thirds of the supplies and stored them in the security office in case their comrades needed them later.
Twenty minutes later, Jiao Lizhi arrived at the reservoir area. After she showed her identity card to the guards, she entered the area where the water tanks were stored.
The moment she stepped inside, she was surprised to see that there were fewer than 100 ability-users inside. Compared to the current population of the Lin’an City Base, which was more than 2 million people, this number couldn’t even be called a speck of dust.
She observed them for a while and shook her head. Their speed of creating water was slow, and their level was too low. The highest level was only at level 2. Judging from their behavior, it seemed that they didn’t plan to do more than required.
With such a situation, it was no wonder that the water supply couldn’t keep up with the demand. Reaching this conclusion, Jiao Lizhi thought for a moment before she walked to the empty tank near the ability-users.
When they saw her, they only gave her a glance. Because her team rarely stayed in the base and often went to other places for missions, only the senior guards and people who had interacted with the team in the early days recognized her.
The ability-users couldn’t gauge her strength and thought that her energy was too weak. With this thought, some even looked at her disdainfully.
Jiao Lizhi noticed their expressions but said nothing. In the apocalypse, strength was the law. There was no need to argue. When they realized her strength, they wouldn’t dare to look down on her anymore.
She bent her knees, and with a light jump, she stood on top of the ladder. The water tank was tall and huge, so the guards placed a wooden ladder on the side of the tank to make it easier for the ability-users to fill it.
The empty tanks’ lids were taken off, so she knew which ones were empty and which ones were full. Raising her right hand, she circulated her energy, and in less than a second, a water ball the size of a watermelon floated in front of her.
When everyone saw this, one of the ability-users snorted and said, "Show off."
"Foolish. She is just wasting her energy," another one added.
While some ridiculed her, the rest chose to wait and see. They were curious about what she wanted to do and how strong she was.
Jiao Lizhi didn’t even glance at them, and with a flick of her hand, ten water jets spurted out from the water ball. They thought that she couldn’t control her energy and laughed at her.
But before they even finished laughing, they saw the water jets aimed at the empty tanks accurately. They stared at her with widened eyes. It took them a while to regain their composure.
"Okay, she is good at controlling her ability. But what’s the use of that? At this rate, she will run out of energy faster," a young man said.
"Well, at least she can save time and do other things," another one chimed in.
Soon after they said this, several more ability-users joined their conversation. This time, Jiao Lizhi finally replied to them.
"Don’t judge people based on yourself. With such a small mind, how can you improve yourself?" she sighed.
Hearing this, the young man frowned and asked, "Are you saying that I’m small-minded?"
"Aren’t you? You don’t know anything about me, yet you keep commenting on my actions. I just started, and you are already criticizing me. If you are so great, how can you still be at level 1?" Jiao Lizhi asked him back.
When they heard her words, everyone was offended.
"Comrade, you talk as if you are a high-level ability-user. Everyone knows that in the entire Lin’an City Base, the highest water-type ability-user is Captain Gu Shaoze, who is already at level 4. We never see you, for sure, your level is low."
Jiao Lizhi smiled when she heard the name. "He is indeed very talented. In just a short time, he managed to break through to level 4."
Her voice was not low, and everyone heard her words clearly.
"You are too arrogant. Who are you to comment on Captain Gu’s matters?" a woman asked unhappily.
Jiao Lizhi thought for a moment and replied, "Well, he should be counted as my senior at the university and also my ex-teammate."
When they heard this, they thought that she had been expelled from Gu Shaoze’s team and laughed at her.
While they were busy laughing, Jiao Lizhi had already filled 10 water tanks. With another flick of her wrist, the water jets stopped for a moment before going to another ten empty water tanks.
Seeing this, their laughter stopped abruptly. The young man looked at her in shock and finally noticed the emblem on her collar. It took him a while to recognize the emblem.
"Y-you are a member of the Phantom Team," he muttered in disbelief.
"Comrades, rather than gossiping and dissing other people, it’s better to improve yourself. After all, when you go out and are attacked by zombies or mutants, you can only depend on yourself to save your life."
After a moment of pause, she added, "As water-type ability-users, it’s not easy for everyone to level up. But you should realize that whenever you drain your energy, the amount of energy you have after you recover will increase slightly."
Hearing this, everyone realized that what she said was true. They didn’t think much about it since the improvement was so small that they thought it was a mistake. Now that she had pointed out this matter, everyone finally connected the dots.
After a long silence, one of them finally asked, "Comrade, may I ask what your level is?"
