Chapter 1868: All-Powerful Klaus
Chapter 1868: All-Powerful Klaus
“Boy, they are dead.” One of the Third stage Sovereigns among the Gnomes replied with a playful laugh before adding, “Don’t worry, you will join them soon, but not before you tell me where we’ve seen you before.”
The duo were confident they’ve seen Klaus before. At first this Gnome felt he was the only one who found Klaus oddly familiar, but he found out from his companion that the other also felt like Klaus was very familiar. Given how they were mostly always deployed together and the other Gnome confirmed that he also found Klaus very familiar meant that in truth they have seen Klaus before.
Klaus could not be bothered with the duo, his expression which was already cold turned even colder when he heard that the Townspeople were dead.
“Since they are dead, there is no point in talking any further.”
With that said, Klaus took a step and a frigid wind blew on the direction of the Gnomes.
The Gnome in the Fifth stage of the Sovereign Plane quickly realized something was strange with the cold air blowing their way, turning his head to look at those behind him, he got the shock of his life. The Gnomes behind him were being turned into blocks of ice at a shocking speed. Within only five seconds of the wind blowing, three Gnomes below the Sovereign Plane had been completely frozen. Although only three were fully frozen, most of the rest Gnomes below the Sovereign Plane had parts of their bodies frozen solid.
Without hesitation, the Fifth stage Sovereign summoned his Seventh stage puppet which is a Fire Elementalist. He controlled the puppet to raise the temperature, trying to cancel to effect of the icy wind caused by Klaus.
The icy wind wasn’t meant to deal with strong opponents, so the second the Puppet raised the temperature, Klaus’ icy wind died down, but his aim had been achieved. He was originally confronted by over fifty Gnomes and of the fifty, about ten were in the Sovereign Plane while the rest were below the Sovereign Plane. Now although those people would not necessarily be able to harm him, they can in certain ways impede him, giving the Fofth stage Sovereign who had a Seventh stage Sovereign Puppet with him. Not wanting any distractions from the weak Gnomes, he decided it was best to take them out first and deal with the stronger ones alone.
The icy wind died down, but the three frozen Gnomes did not defrost, rather, they fell to the ground and shattered like blocks of ice. This was not the only thing, one of the Gnomes whose hand was frozen tried to touch the arm and his entire left arm fell to the ground and shattered. He did not even feel the slightest pain as his arm, from the shoulder fell to the ground, there was no blood rushing out from the vacant arm, rather the injury was frozen.
The Gnome screamed in horror as he watched his arm break into countless pieces. This did not happen to just one Gnome, but at least fifteen Gnomes.
The scene frightened the Sovereigns among the Gnomes, shocked at the deadliness of a simple attack from Klaus. Klaus did not even unleash a large scale attack, just a simple wind is able to cause so much havoc, just how powerful are his main attacks.
‘He’s stronger than the last two.’ The Fifth stage Gnome realized they were in trouble, turning to the other two Third stage Sovereigns who found Klaus familiar, he urged the duo, “Don’t hold back.”
After telling the duo this, the leading Gnome sent his Puppet to attack Klaus. While doing this, he brought out what looked to be a communication device as his Spiritual Energy sank into it.
Klaus did not try to stop the Gnome from doing this, although he knew they were calling for help, he did not really care, and the reason for this was quite simple.
Bang!
The Puppet was sent flying, crashing into the ground. It stood up almost immediately, but its movements looked sluggish compared to when it first attacked Klaus.
The two Third stage Sovereigns both brought out one Fourth stage Sovereign Puppet, as well as a Third stage Puppet respectively.
Facing two Fourth stage Sovereigns and two Third stage Sovereigns at the same time, Klaus did not feel any pressure. This was not the first time he had to fight multiple opponents, and although he is not as freakish as Grey when it came to multiple opponents, battling multiple opponents with weaker cultivation than himself is a breeze.
Pushing his domain to the limit, the surrounding twenty-five meters radius was covered in snow, and anything that gets within this range slows down exponentially, even the attacks are not as fast as they used to be. The weaker attacks of those in the First and Second stages of the Sovereign Plane became frozen the moment it got within five meters of Klaus’ domain.
Looking at the group in front of him, Klaus’ expression only turned colder the more he thought about the dead Townspeople and members from his Faction who died at the hands of these Gnomes. Taking a step forward, ice arrows appeared above him as they shot straight to the group of Gnomes.
The Gnome in the Fifth stage of the Sovereign Plane reacted quickly, creating a wall made of the darkness element. While doing this, his Seventh stage Puppet slashed a blade made of flames at Klaus.
Klaus did not bother about the outcome of his attack as he focused on blocking this fire blade. He was stronger than this Puppet, unfortunately there were two Fourth stage Puppets, along with multiple Third stage or lower Puppets helping it out so he had to divide his attention. There were also the Gnomes who were behind the Puppets. Even without these Puppets, the Gnomes were terrifying to deal with alone.
Blocking the attacks from the Puppets, he pushed forward, drawing closer to the Gnomes.
The darkness wall the leading Gnome set up was barely able to block most of Klaus’ ice arrows. With this attack, a few more Gnomes were killed by Klaus, turning into ice sculptures the second the ice arrows made contact with them. Thankfully the arrows that got past were few, so they only lost ten people or so. Taking their original numbers into account, losing ten people from a single attack proved just how dangerous the opponent was.
“Retreat, run for your lives!”
The leading Gnome came to a decision in a short time. He did not need to wait for a long time before he knew this was a losing battle, no matter what happens, he was certain that they would die if they continued fighting with this human boy. In contrast, at least a few of them will be able to survive if they escape now. While saying this, he was the first to make a move, with the aid of his Seventh stage Puppet and the Puppets of the other Sovereign Plane Gnomes, they forced Klaus to stop advancing.
This was the opportunity they were waiting for as they all rushed in different directions, in hopes they could escape from Klaus.
Klaus knew what they wanted to do, but there was nothing he could do against so many attacks. He was not as fast as Grey, Alice, and Reynolds since they all had the lightning element. Fortunately, what he lacked in speed, his ice ability made up for it. This is also exactly the reason he did not panic when he saw them trying to escape, rather he focused on blocking the attacks coming his way. When he was done blocking the attacks, he looked at struggling Gnomes and burst into a fit of laughter.
Other than the Gnome who was a Fifth stage Sovereign, none of the other Gnomes have been able to get out of the Town, and even the Fifth stage Gnome found it hard to move at his usual speed.
Klaus, being a Seventh stage Sovereign made him naturally faster than the Gnomes present here, and with his ice ability slowing them down, he was even more confident that under these conditions, he would not lose out to an Eighth stage Sovereign in terms of speed, much less a Fifth stage one.
What made the situation of the Gnomes even more dire is that they all turned their back to an opponent who was multiple times stronger than they were. Klaus did not even have to worry about any of them putting up any resistance or even fight back. He started killing off all the Gnomes below the Sovereign Plane who haven’t been able to even move any more than a hundred meters since they tried to run away. In a short second or two, Llaus had killed all those below the Sovereign Plane, turning his attention to those in the Sovereign Plane.
With a playful smile on his lips, Klaus gave chase.
