Chapter 1916: New Portal II
Chapter 1916: New Portal II
Grey heaved a secret sigh of relief when he heard the Old man’s words, he could tell the Old man was well respected, so as long as he wanted to join them in seeking out this portal, it would be easier for the others to agree to it too.
Just as Grey expected, with the Old man joining, the others agreed one after the other, including the Peak Sovereign who was initially against the idea. Although the man still felt like it could be a trap, it was better they checked it out than to leave it alone. They absolutely could not allow a portal that could send Half God Plane Gnomes into their world while still retaining the same stability.
Lucas could not go with them since he still had to make sure he looked after his wife who was at a crucial point in her cultivation. Chris was shocked at how the Gnome willingly showed them the way without raising any fuss. He was the one who caught this Gnome and knew just how vicious he was. The Gnome was prepared to self-destruct when he noticed he could not overpower Chris, and was caught regardless. If the Gnome was ready to die to make sure he was not caught, Chris could not imagine what Grey did to him to make him this docile.
Taking a look at the back view of Grey as he led the group on the expedition, he could not help but feel like Grey had suddenly become shrouded by a layer of mysteriousness that even he could not see through. Shaking his head, he decided not to dwell on the issue, he had already accepted that his Student had surpassed him.
The trip took a few days for them to get to the location where the portal was supposedly located. Before them was an abandoned Town, with a few houses that looked like they could crumble from a single touch.
Grey did not need to use the Gnome as a scout anymore as he could already sense the presence of some Gnomes in the area. The auras were scattered, making him a little wary. He could not sense the presence of powerful Gnomes, any Gnome strong enough to hide from his senses would be at least a Peak Sovereign, of course there are exceptions in lower stages, but they are rare.
Grey was not the one taking charge over this expedition, his job was to locate the position of the Gnomes, and immediately he did, he informed the others who were with him. Other than Lucas, three others from the meeting did not come with them.
This did not worry them as most of the people present were Half God Plane experts and Peak Sovereigns, only Grey and his Teacher had lower cultivation stages.
The Half God Plane experts spread out their terrifying Spiritual Sense as they easily located the positions of the Gnomes in this area. The Old man’s expression turned drastic when he noticed something as he rushed out, “Quick, seal the portal.”
There was no time to waste, the aura of a Half God Plane Gnome was present in the Town, not just one.
The presence of multiple Half God Plane Gnomes meant that there was definitely a portal here that can allow Gnomes of this level pass through without facing any challenges.
If Grey had not found out about this portal fast enough, then they would have been in real trouble. At the moment, Lucas, Lewis, and two other were the only Half God Plane experts not present here who were stationed in the Azure Continent. The rest were here, seven Half God Plane experts, and from what the Old man could sense, there should be five Half God Plane Gnomes on the other side.
The Half God Plane experts all attacked at the same time, each aiming for the Gnomes in the Half God Plane. The Peak Sovereigns knew the battles between the Half God Plane experts had nothing to do with them, so they focused on the other Gnomes present.
Grey and his Teacher also joined in on the fight. They needed to deal with the Gnomes here and quickly seal the portal.
Although Grey’s group had the element of surprise, the Gnomes were no pushover and they also had the numbers advantage. After the initial shock, the Gnomes coordinated themselves and fought back, pushing back the Sovereigns.
The place was quickly thrown into chaos as battle erupted in every corner of the Town. The Town is only about one one thousand five hundred square meters, and in a matter of seconds, all the buildings were reduced to dust.
Grey did not stray too far from his Teacher, fighting side by side with his Teacher. Three Gnomes in the Ninth stage rushed in their direction, attacking with their Puppets.
Grey did not instantly cut off the links with the Puppets, biding his time to ensure the moment he took action, he would be able to take the lives of the trio.
He informed his Teacher of his plan, and Chris coordinated with him, luring two more Gnomes into the trap to better maximize it. The light element made him very nimble in the midst of Puppets and Gnomes who tried to kill him. They found him annoying and opted to kill him first.
Grey did not face any pressure since his Teacher was drawing all the attention, which gave him enough time to not only prepare an attack that he would use to kill all five Gnomes.
Just when the Gnomes thought they had cornered Chris, they suddenly felt a sharp pain in their heads, making them grab their heads.
Grey acted at the same time, sending out a series of lightning bolts in the direction of the five, while two fire snakes made with his inscriptions rushed in the direction of the five.
Chris was also prepared to launch his attack as soon as Grey cut off the link, so the moment he was signaled by Grey, he also took action.
Of the five Gnomes, he launched at the duo closest to him. Grey’s attacks were aimed at the three some distance away.
Boom! Bang!
“Grey Dawson!”
A voice laced with pain yelled out from within an explosion as the figure of one of the Ninth stage Sovereigns appeared, although his clothes were ripped, he was unscathed. Not just him, one of the remaining two Gnomes with him also survived the ambush. The last Gnome was not as lucky.
Grey was taken aback by the duo’s reaction, it was barely a second yet they were able to react in such a short time, surviving what he thought was a certain kill strike.
The Gnome made sure his voice was heard all through the battlefield, ensuring he alerted the others of Grey’s presence. They just experienced how deadly it is if their links to their Puppets was suddenly cut off, and did not want their companions to fall under it.
The gazes of the others Gnomes turned to Grey as soon as they heard the name. Grey already expected this, hence the reason he wanted to kill them with just one strike, he did not expect that two from the trio he attacked would be able to survive it.
Since his identity has been exposed, there was no way for him to use that ability to catch them off-guard any more. He did not stop his assaults, charging after the duo.
The duo panicked as they tried to retreat, however, a strong suction force came from Grey’s hand, drawing one of them in his direction.
The sight of his companion being dragged without the ability to fight back scared the other Gnome; he hurriedly made a couple of hand seals.
The second he finished making the hand seals, the Puppet that had stopped moving exploded, forcing Grey to retreat. The impact disrupted the strange force pulling the other Gnome Grey’s way, allowing the Gnome to regain control over his body. The Gnome retreated hurriedly, only to notice a fast approaching figure, before he could turn around, he saw a body that looked like his own frozen in place, headless. His voice soon faded.
In front of the headless body of the Gnome was Chris who was covered in bright golden light, a golden sword could be seen in his hand, blood dripping from the tip of the sword.
Chris had used the opportunity presented to him by Grey to kill the duo, he saw this two trying to escape from Grey’s grasp, and since he was done, he rushed over.
The surviving Gnome did not dare to stay put, running in the direction he could sense the presence of other powerful Gnomes. He thought Grey was the only one to worry about, only to discover this man covered in dazzling golden light is just as horrifying to face as Grey.
Chris did not give chase, returning to Grey’s side.
