Chapter 1917: Chaotic Battlefield
Chapter 1917: Chaotic Battlefield
Grey’s identity being exposed made the Gnomes around them hurriedly withdraw their Puppets, they all knew just how dangerous it was to be frozen in the middle of a fight.
The Gnome who self-destructed his Puppet and managed to survive retreated to the back of the group, afraid to continue fighting. He could not be blamed, of five Gnomes that attacked Grey and Chris, he was the only one who managed to survive, and that is purely due to the fact that he even had to self-destruct his Puppet.
“He’s Grey Dawson, kill him first!” The Gnome pointed at Grey as he yelled. He did not want to face Grey, and since there were more Gnomes present, he decided it was best that the others dealt with Grey.
And just as he expected, as soon as the other Gnome heard his words, the few who were free locked their eyes on Grey. They did not forget the price that was still on Grey’s head, so long as any of them is able to kill Grey, that person would be rewarded.
Two Eighth stage Sovereigns were the first to act, charging at Grey without their Puppets. They witnessed what happened a few moments ago and would naturally not make the same mistake again.
Grey and Chris engaged the duo in a battle, quickly proving they were stronger than their current opponents. Just when they were about to kill the duo, two Ninth stage Sovereigns appeared, taking the place of the duo in the Eighth stage.
Grey and Chris did not falter, fighting their opponents with their strongest attacks. This made the Gnomes realize that even the Ninth stage Sovereigns barely stood a chance against them individually. They originally planned to tire them out with their superior numbers, but from the look of things, the duo might kill off the Gnomes sent their way, and that would affect the momentum of the Gnomes.
Some of them were already afraid of Grey since they could not use their Puppets, so making that fear stronger was not the best play right now.
Other than Grey and Chris, the other Peak Sovereigns from their side were busy fighting with the Gnomes who were Peak Sovereigns.
From what Grey could tell, there were only about three Peak Sovereigns among the Gnomes, their numbers being surprisingly lower than the Half God Plane experts which were five. The numbers of Ninth stage Sovereigns took almost half of the Gnomes present.
Boom! Bang! Bam!
The sounds of explosions rang out from different parts of the chaotic battlefield. This was not the first time Grey was fighting in a chaotic battlefield as such, and since his space element was not restricted, he decided to take advantage of it.
Three Ninth stage Sovereign Gnomes cornered him, each launching a powerful attack.
Grey reacted accordingly, rather than evading, he waited until he was about to be hit before forcibly switching positions with one of the Ninth stage Sovereigns. The Sovereign resisted for a short time, making part of the attack hit Grey.
Chris saw Grey’s situation and wanted to help, blocked by four Gnomes, he could only watch as Grey was engulfed by the attack. Gritting his teeth, he focused on defending himself as he looked for an opening. He was faced with three Eighth stage Sovereigns and one Ninth stage Sovereign, while Grey was facing three Ninth stage Sovereigns.
“Filthy scums, fight me one on one if you dare.” Chris cursed as he was forced back by an attack.
He was about to desperately rush to Grey’s aid, only to see him striking the two Gnomes that were standing side by side. He did not know when Grey appeared behind the duo, all he saw was him unleashing a ruthless attack.
The duo did not expect an attack to suddenly come from behind, so when faced with the attack, they could not reach in time, both being cleanly hit by Grey’s strike. As the attacks struck, two Puppets appeared on the side of their bodies that were struck, pushing them back.
Grey thought his attack was certainly going to at least seriously injure the duo, to his surprise, they were able to act at the last moment, saving their lives at the cost of their Puppets.
The Puppets were nonliving beings, so even when they took the brunt of Grey’s attacks, they did not flinch even though half of their heads had caved in, counterattacking as soon as Grey tried to retreat.
Grey immediately retreated, blocking the attacks of the duo that forced him back.
“Argh!” A scream of pain from the right, turning around, Grey saw one of their companions falling from the sky, covered in blood. As the figure was falling to the ground, a Puppet was charging at him, seemingly preparing an attack that would end the life of the man.
Grey wanted to help, only to be faced with an attack from the two Ninth stage Sovereigns Puppets.
“Boy, it seems you do not value your life.” One of the Gnomes remarked coldly as he took the place of his Puppet, continuing the attack with more ferocity.
Grey did not expect this Gnome to be able to change positions with his Puppet, catching him unaware. He had prepared to cut off the link between the Gnome and the Puppet, a plan he could no longer execute since the Gnome had already taken back his Puppet.
The other Gnome did not take back his Puppet, letting it aid his companion as he looked in the direction Grey was supposed to be in when they first unleashed their attacks. He noticed that since Grey appeared behind them, he could not find their last companion. His eyes widened when he noticed the figure of his companion heavily injured.
‘How did this happen?’ The Gnome was taken aback by the sight of his companion who had lost one arm. If not for the Puppet that was heavily damaged in front of him, it was obvious he would have ended up dead.
