Chapter 1933: Chris' Fear

Chapter 1933: Chris’ Fear

Seeing the Gnomes retreat, the Humans were in high spirits, giving chase to the escaping Gnomes. Klaus’ opponent could not escape since he was frozen in place by the latter, he could only watch as he was killed from bombardments of attacks.

Chris and Grey were the fastest present, so they were the ones that caught up to the weaker Gnomes. They did not try to kill them since they knew the others were behind them, slowing them down, they focused on the Peak Sovereigns that escaped. Killing a single Peak Sovereign Gnome was equivalent to killing a few Ninth stage Sovereigns, so they wanted to see if they could kill at least one of the four Peak Sovereign Gnomes who were escaping.

The duo targeted the Peak Sovereign Gnome that sustained some injuries during the battle, striking with precision.

Bang!

The Gnome blocked the duo’s attack, but was forced to face them. Flaring up with anger, he roared, “Are you tired of living?”

Grey and Chris exchanged looks before moving to two different sides, seemingly intent on blocking this Gnome from escaping.

The Gnome knew the reason the duo did not give chase after the others and focused on him, he was the weakest among the Peak Sovereign Gnomes, adding the fact that he was also injured, his chances of escaping the duo was almost zero, unless he is able to kill the duo before the other Human experts arrived.

The Gnome gritted his teeth, knowing he had to fight the duo. Taking out a Puppet, he sent it in the direction of Chris while he aimed at Grey, sending out a fist made from the darkness element.

A mocking smile appeared on Grey’s face as he tried to cut the link between the Gnome and the Puppet. His smile froze when he realized something was different about this Gnome and the link to his Puppet.

The Gnome grinned when he noticed Grey’s odd expression, laughing he said, “Do you think we haven’t thought of countermeasures to deal with you?”

Grey frowned, dodging the attack of the Gnome. This was not the first time he was facing a Gnome that could seemingly hide the link connecting him to his Puppet. With no other choice, Grey charged towards the injured Gnome.

The Gnome thought Grey would retreat after being unable to cut the link between himself and the Puppet, unfortunately, it was clear Grey wanted to stop him no matter what.

“Since you don’t cherish your life, I will end it here.”

Saying this, the Gnome’s aura surged, growing stronger than what it used to be. His body was covered by a black mist, hiding his figure from view.

As Grey got close, a black spear shot out from the mist, striking with deadly precision.

The speed of the spear took Grey by surprise, and it was only after it was only a few inches from his head did he react. Tilting his head to the side, he dodged the spear thrust by a small margin. This, however, was not the end of the attack. The spear swung in the direction of his head. Already being so close, it was basically impossible for Grey to dodge it. Using his earth element, a somewhat crystallized veil appeared on the side of his face, blocking the attack of the spear. Even though he blocked it, he was still forced to retreat a few steps by the impact of the attack.

Before he could regain his footing, another black spear came out from the mist, aimed at his chest. He was already off balance after the impact of the first attack. He scurried to block the attack, only to be forced a few meters back. He teleported from the location he was standing, creating some distance between himself and his opponent. They had only exchanged blows for a few seconds and he was on the losing end during each exchange.

The Gnome seized the opportunity and turned to attack Chris. His Puppet was also an existence with strength almost equal to a Peak Sovereign, so Chris was in a difficult position while fighting with it. Realizing he would not be able to quickly deal with Grey, he decided to take out Chris first and then focus all his strength on Grey or escaping.

He had already run a few hundred kilometers away from where the battlefield was located, and was certain it would take a couple of minutes for the others to catch up. Not everyone had the luxury of the space and light element like Grey and Chris, so he knew that as long as he dealt with the duo within a minute or so, he should still be able to keep his life. This was also the reason he used a secret technique to not only return to full strength, his strength was a little greater than what it used to be.

Faced with attacks from both the Gnome and his Puppet, Chris, who was already on the back foot, fell into more trouble. In a second, a large gash appeared on his back, and black mist could be seen on the gash. The wound just appeared, yet it was already starting to rot. The corrosiveness of the darkness element showed its hand, putting Chris in a world of pains.

The Gnome tried to thrust his spear again, with the hope of ending Chris’ life with this one attack.

Just as the spear was about to connect, Chris’ figure changed and was replaced by Grey who held a multicolored orb in his hand. When the Gnome saw the multicolored orb, he sensed the shocking energy it contained. This did not stop his attack. The spear pierced through Grey’s head, shocking the onlooking Chris.

“Grey!’ Chris called out in panic, his body glowing golden, he charged forward, not caring about his current condition. With black blood dripping from his back, he did not show any care for his life as a thin sword appeared on his hand, the sword glowed brightly and Chris’ figure dried up a little. He slashed the sword in the direction of the Gnome while he rushed to Grey’s side.

The Gnome felt a life-threatening aura coming from the sword light coming his way and without hesitation, he withdrew his spear and turned to block the sword light.
