Chapter 1934 Living In Despair
Chapter 1934 Living In Despair
The Gnome was not feeling too good at the moment, even though he saw his spear pierce Grey's head, he did not sense any form of resistance which meant his spear did not connect with anything. While he was thinking how that could happen, the life-threatening aura came from behind him, forcing him to withdraw his spear in a short time.
As he turned to block the sword light, he sensed the multicolored orb swiftly entering within the range of his black mist.
"Huh?" A confused look appeared on his face, he controlled his Puppet to block the multicolored orb while he dealt with the sword light himself since it gave him a bad feeling.
Boom!
The impact of the sword light and the Gnome's spear colliding cause a shockwave to spread out.
The multicolored orb made contact with the Puppet at the same time, exploding on impact. The Puppet was sent flying as it made contact with the orb.
Grey dragged his Teacher who was by his side, retreating from the range of the explosions of both attacks.
"You're fine?" Chris could barely believe his eyes. The reason he put in so much effort was because he thought Grey was impaled by the Gnome's spear, and he did not want the Gnome to destroy Grey's head. To his surprise, as the Gnome withdrew his spear, Grey moved, dragging him back away from the impact of the explosion.
"I'm sorry I made you worried." Grey could see the genuine worry in the eyes of his Teacher, he also witnessed the scene of him using a secret technique to bolster his attack he used against the Gnome.
"It's good you're fine." Chris decided not to dwell on the matter, all that mattered was that Grey was unhurt, turning to look at the explosion he voiced out, "Do you think that will be enough to deal with him?"
Grey shook his head, he knew a three-colored fusion orb would not be enough to deal with the Gnome. Hurting it was possible though, and that was what he aimed for. The Gnome was already injured before the start of their battle, and since he had been using a secret technique to return to full power, he would definitely be tiring out very soon. Grey's plan was simple; wearing down the Gnome.
Once the effect of the injury starts to show, the Gnome would not be able to use even up to fifty percent of his full strength, making him a sitting duck for someone like Grey.
Looking at the smoke, a shadow shot out from the smoke.
Grey reacted the moment he saw the direction the shadow was headed. The Gnome wanted to escape, and he moved in the opposite direction of Grey and Chris.
Chris did not give chase as he was currently in a weakened state, after using the secret technique, he was an arrow at the end of its flight.
The Gnome was only able to move a kilometer before he was stopped by Grey.
"Out of my way!" With an angry roar, the Gnome made a move, trying to forcibly push Grey away with the help of his damaged Puppet.
Seeing the condition of the Puppet, Grey knew his objective was achieved. There was no way the Gnome did not sustain further injuries judging by the appearance of the Puppet.
Grey was in his transformed state, scales showing on his body, he smacked the Puppet's head, making it explode with a bang, before kicking it to the side.
During the time while Grey was dealing with the Puppet, the Gnome had already flown past, covering a distance of a few hundred meters in the blink of an eye.
Grey chased after the Gnome, catching up and using Fire Snakes made with his inscriptions to stall the Gnome before catching up.
Frustrated, the Gnome unleashed a barrage of attacks in Grey's direction, hoping to get him off his back. This was the worst day of the Gnome's life, and he regretted coming here. Unlike the other Gnomes, he was one of the Peak Gnomes that came as backup, so he did not start the battle. When he was called over to help, he felt it would be an easy task, he never imagined the portal would be destroyed and two of their Half God Plane experts would be killed in quick succession.
Even now that he wanted to make a break for it, an Eighth stage Sovereign was blocking his path, a feat he previously believed was impossible. He would have never believed it if someone else told him a Peak Sovereign could not get away from an Eighth stage Sovereign, but he did not need anyone to tell him as he was experiencing it himself.
Calming himself, he tried to make use of his domain, covering a large region with black mist.
Grey knew to protect himself from the black must, making sure he did not inhale it. Covered in a glowing light, he pinpointed the location of the Gnome in the mist and attacked.
Sparks flew in the mist as Grey and the Gnome exchanged one move after another. The Gnome might be injured, but he was a certified Peak Sovereign. No matter which attacks Grey threw his way, he was able to block them, before countering.
Grey's speed made it impossible for the Gnome to touch him, and the Gnome's superior strength gave him the ability to properly defend. If this was a normal scenario, the Gnome would not panic and would take his time to break Grey down. Unfortunately for him, he did not have the luxury of time to break Grey down as he could already sense the fast approaching auras of the two Human Peak Sovereigns. If they caught up to him in his current condition, his death was guaranteed.
Roaring, he forced Grey back before his body shrank until it disappeared.
Grey gawked at the sight of this, he was just about to reengage with the Gnome before he disappeared from his view. The Gnome did not just hide visibly, even his aura disappeared. Grey tried to sense the aura of the Gnome, only to end up with nothing.
Frowning, Grey furrowed his brows at the thought of how the Gnome was able to escape from his sight without him having any idea how he did it. Only the space element could give one the ability to vanish into the thin air. This would however leave clues in spatial fluctuations. The Gnome vanished and there were no signs of spatial fluctuations, hence the reason Grey was stumped. He was a Space Elementalist, so there was no way the Gnome would use any spatial escape technique without him sensing it.
The Bunny Leader appeared on Grey's shoulder before pointing to the east, at a conspicuous-looking tree, "There, he's there."
Grey did not expect the Bunny Leader to lend a helping hand at this moment, but he was glad it helped out. Rushing to the tree, even before he got there he had sensed the presence of the Gnome, albeit very faint.
Snickering, he appeared before the Gnome who looked shriveled up, "You think you can escape if you are just bones?"
Hearing Grey's voice, the Gnome froze, shocked that his location was discovered, he muttered in disbelief, "Impossible! This is impossible!"
Grey did not even bother with the Gnome who looked like he was going insane, striking with a palm strike.
The Gnome reacted in time, bringing out a second Puppet. This Puppet only had the strength of a Seventh stage Sovereign, inferior to his previous Peak Sovereign Puppet.
Grey's palm strike connected with the Puppet, and before the bewildered eyes of the Gnome, the Puppet shattered from the blow. The palm strike did not end there, it continued forward, firmly landing on the chest of the Gnome.
The Gnome did not expect the palm to pass through his Puppet and was unable to block it. His chest caved in as he spurted a mouthful of blood, his figure did not retreat, blood spilling from the side of his mouth, he grabbed Grey's hand and his black spear appeared from thin air, stabbing towards Grey's chest.
Grey wanted to retreat, only to discover the Gnome was grabbing his hand. He knew there was no way for him to retreat, gritting his teeth, he decided to put all his trust in his defense before throwing another blow at the head of the Gnome.
The spear was aimed at Grey's heart, the Gnome clearly did not want his opponent to survive this blow.
Seeing Grey planning to trade blows with him, he did not panic. His spear was longer, and he had the advantage of striking first, so he did not think Grey's fist would connect with his head before his spear pierced through Grey's heart.
Grey's fist suddenly shook and it was as if he was standing far from the Gnome. An incredulous look appeared on the Gnome's eyes as his spear did not connect with the figure he thought he held onto.
