Chapter 115 Part 2 – She Got Drunk From Drinking Soy Milk (II)

Even though she had stayed up late, Jiang Li was still waking up early the next morning by her internal clock. After getting dressed and leaving the room, she saw Feng Qi in front of the stove, wearing an apron and making breakfast.

Jiang Li exclaimed, “Uncle, you can actually cook?”

Feng Qi nodded. “I live alone here, remember? So I often cook myself something easy for breakfast.”

After Jiang Li finished washing up, the breakfast was ready on the table. She tasted it and immediately gave a thumbs-up. “The soy milk and fried dough sticks taste great!”

Just then, the doorbell rang. Before Feng Qi could move, Jiang Li hurried over to open it.

Standing in the corridor was Feng Song, looking bewildered. “Second Brother? What are you doing here all of a sudden?”

Feng Song looked even more surprised. “Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that?”

Jiang Li started playing dumb. “I asked first, so you have to answer first.”

Feng Song smiled warmly. “Feng Bai must have told you about what happened last night, so you rushed back here, right?”

Jiang Li gave him a thumbs-up. “Second Brother, you’re so smart. Let me guess, did Grandpa send you here to check on Third Uncle?”

Feng Song ruffled her hair with a smile. “Correct. Our Xiao Jiang Li sure is the smartest.”

Feng Qi swept a glance at them. “If you two keep complimenting each other, breakfast will get cold.”

Jiang Li immediately ran back to the table, picking up her bowl of soy milk.

After Feng Song changed his shoes and came in, Feng Qi said, “I only made breakfast for two. If you want to eat, you’ll have to make it yourself.”

Feng Song shook his head, “It’s okay, I’ve already eaten. Third Uncle, after Grandpa lost his temper with you yesterday, he started regretting it. Early this morning, he sent me over to check on you.”

Feng Qi raised an eyebrow slightly. “Did he tell you he regretted it?”

Feng Song: “…”

With Grandpa’s character, there was no way he would ever admit he regretted anything out loud. But his attitude was obvious enough that the family could tell right away!

Jiang Li went over and pulled Feng Song, splitting her fried dough stick in half to share with him. After being refused, she whispered, “Uncle is just sulking. Don’t worry, he’ll be fine after a while.”

Feng Qi gave her a look. “If your voice were any quieter, I might not be able to hear you.”

Jiang Li pretended not to hear his sarcastic comment. She looked at Feng Song and continued, “When you go back, Second Brother, remember to tell Grandpa that I was back yesterday, but since he hit Third Uncle, I’m very angry too, so I won’t be going to visit him.”

Before Feng Song could speak, Feng Qi frowned and said, “Nonsense.”

“But I really am angry,” Jiang Li said righteously. If Grandpa had just scolded her, she would have accepted it, but hitting Third Uncle truly made her upset.

Feng Qi looked at Feng Song. “She just got drunk. You don’t need to take her seriously.”

Jiang Li retorted, “I drank soy milk, not alcohol.”

Feng Qi replied, “Yeah, you’re allergic to soy milk.”

Feng Song: “…”

Maybe he should just pretend to be mute!

After Jiang Ruo went to see Tong Xu, she began eagerly waiting for a result. Now she genuinely hoped that her brother’s arrest was truly orchestrated by Tong Yi, because only then would Grandpa finally soften his heart enough to save him.

Unfortunately, news from Tong Xu had never come—instead, she received a call from her school’s student affairs, telling her that she must return to campus for classes and that in the future, if she needed to go to the hospital for dialysis, she would have to request leave in advance and could only leave after approval.

Even though she repeatedly stressed that her situation was extraordinary, the staff had no intention of making exceptions and warned her that unexcused absences would affect her continuous assessment scores.

At her university, final exam grades consisted of written test scores and continuous assessment. Without assessment scores, it would be impossible to pass the final exams. Failing the final exams meant that she would have to take makeup exams the following semester, and if she failed again, she would need to retake the course. Failing too many courses could even lead to being held back a year or forced to withdraw.

Not wanting her education to end at high school, Jiang Ruo had no choice but to return to campus. However, on her very first day back, she immediately encountered mockery and ridicule from her classmates.

Even though Jiang Ruo kept reminding herself not to care about what people said, she wasn’t as strong as she imagined. During breaks, she couldn’t help but hide in the restroom to cry.

When she returned to her rental apartment that night, Jiang Ruo felt completely drained, but there was no one in the empty apartment to share her burden.

Curled up alone on the sofa, Jiang Ruo was about to fall asleep when there was a sudden loud banging on the door. Looking through the peephole, she saw it was the landlord. She quickly opened the door, but before she could greet him, the landlord coldly demanded that she move out as soon as possible.

Jiang Ruo was stunned. “But we signed a four-year lease…”

The landlord rudely interrupted, “Did I sign it with you? I clearly signed it with Bai Guolin, that damn criminal.”

“…” Jiang Ruo was stunned. Indeed, when they had found the place, Bai Guolin had handled everything for her. Now that Bai Guolin had been arrested, it seemed only natural that the landlord would demand she move out.

Jiang Ruo tried to negotiate. “We can sign a new lease…”

The landlord interrupted again, “Who would sign with you? A parasite, an illegitimate child, who incited two shameless men to commit crimes for her? I wouldn’t dare rent to someone like you.”

Alone and vulnerable, Jiang Ruo didn’t dare argue with the landlord. She said softly, “I will find another place, but I need some time. Please…”

“Fine, I’ll give you three days. If you’re not out in three days, I’ll change the lock and toss your stuff!”

With that, the landlord left. Jiang Ruo hugged her knees and squatted on the floor, crying for a long time, but no one came to comfort her.

After a long while, Jiang Ruo realized that crying was useless. She stood up, downloaded a real estate app on her phone, and started looking for a new place.

The next day, Jiang Ruo contacted a real estate agent and spent most of the day looking at properties. She finally found a suitable room, but when it came time to sign the lease, the landlord suddenly backed out, saying the place had been rented to someone else.

Jiang Ruo didn’t think much of it at the time and continued searching. However, over the next few days, every time she found a suitable place and was about to sign the lease, the landlord would back out at the last moment.

When she questioned the landlords, some ignored her completely, while others rudely told her to stop bothering them.

Three days later, Jiang Ruo still hadn’t found a place. When she returned to her old rental, she found all her belongings thrown into the hallway, and the lock on the door had clearly been changed—her key couldn’t open it anymore.
