Chapter 131 Part 1 – You’ve Had Dreams Like That Before?! (I)
Seeing Tong Yi completely stunned, Lin Zhao asked in surprise, “Don’t tell me you really don’t remember anything?”
Qin Zheng, clearly enjoying the drama, added with a grin, “Even if he doesn’t remember, that’s fine. We can help jog his memory. It’s not like the plot is complicated—he’ll remember soon enough.”
Lin Zhao nodded. “Why don’t we start with that glass of warm water?”
Qin Zheng smirked. “Did Jiang Li’s hand smell that good?”
“…” Tong Yi stayed silent for a long while before finally speaking slowly, “What if I told you I thought I was dreaming at the time—would you believe me?”
Lin Zhao gave a small cough and countered, “Do you even believe yourself?”
Qin Zheng gloated. “Whether we believe you or not doesn’t matter much!”
Lin Zhao immediately agreed. “Right. The key is whether Jiang Li believes it—and I think she most likely won’t.”
Tong Yi rubbed his temples, feeling like he was doomed to a terrible fate tomorrow. But when he recalled what he had believed was a dream, he couldn’t help but let his mind wander again.
When he hugged Jiang Xiao Li, she didn’t push him away, and when he kissed her, she didn’t hit him…
Didn’t that mean she might also have feelings for him? Otherwise, he’d probably already be lying in a hospital bed by now!
With this realization, Tong Yi’s eyes gradually lit up—it felt like he could already see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Qin Zheng saw right through his thoughts and immediately poured cold water: “I think you should first focus on figuring out how to explain what you have done to Jiang Li tomorrow morning.”
Lin Zhao’s gaze was full of sympathy. “You kissed her, and now you’re pretending nothing happened. If I were Jiang Li, I’d think you were a total scumbag.”
Tong Yi frowned. “How could you be Jiang Xiao Li? Stop daydreaming!”
Lin Zhao spoke seriously. “Okay, let me put it another way—if I did something like that to Wanwan, she definitely wouldn’t talk to me for a long time.”
Hearing that, Tong Yi’s heart sank. Jiang Xiao Li and Wen Wan were good friends—if Wen Wan would get mad about something like this, then Jiang Xiao Li probably would be too.
In other words, the situation was much worse than he’d imagined.
Seeing his expression, Qin Zheng laughed even harder and started analyzing: “When I asked you if you liked Jiang Li, you’d rather drink than answer. But not long after, you went and hugged and kissed her, then acted like nothing happened. Honestly, calling you a scumbag might be giving you too much credit.”
Lin Zhao nodded and said, “When you put it like that, it actually makes a lot of sense. Jiang Li probably wanted to kill him right then and there, but held back because too many people were watching.”
Tong Yi: “…”
‘What the heck—since when you two became such good buddies?!’
Schadenfreude aside, there was one undeniable truth in their so-called analysis—Jiang Xiao Li was absolutely going to be furious with him, which meant the days ahead were bound to be difficult.
Knowing he had to salvage the situation, Tong Yi quickly pulled out his phone, eager to explain things to Jiang Li via a messaging app. But he quickly realized this was harder than writing an essay.
He wrote and rewrote several hundred words, only to delete them all one character at a time. In the end, he let out a long sigh.
Better say face-to-face tomorrow! Otherwise, Jiang Xiao Li would definitely think he was being a coward!
In the end, he only sent two words: Good night
…
After Qin Zheng and Lin Zhao took Tong Yi away, Jiang Li told the remaining guests to have fun before leaving with Wen Wan to head back to their room for the night.
On the way back to the room, Wen Wan kept sneaking cautious glances at Jiang Li’s face, opening her mouth more than once but unable to find the right words to begin.
Jiang Li glanced at her and asked, “Do you have something?”
The girl hesitated for a few seconds before finally voicing her question, “Are you angry at Tong Yi?”
Jiang Li pressed her lips together, then said coldly, “Shouldn’t I be mad at that pervert?” If it had been someone else who did that to her, that person would probably have lost a few teeth by now!
Wen Wan said softly, “I think… Tong Yi probably blacked out after drinking and doesn’t remember what he did.”
Jiang Li looked a little annoyed. “Even if he was drunk, he should’ve had some awareness. If he didn’t want to do those things, how could he have done them? And if he did do them, how could he have no memory at all?”
Without waiting for Wen Wan to respond, she continued, “Don’t tell me you actually believe in that ‘drunk and lost control’ excuse?”
The girl immediately shook her head, but then added in a small voice, “But what Tong Yi did… wasn’t that serious, right?”
Jiang Li gave a cold stare. “Whose side are you on, exactly?”
Wen Wan quickly put on a sweet smile. “Yours, of course! Who cares about Tong Yi—he’s just a creep. We should just ignore him.”
Jiang Li: “…”
That didn’t sound sincere at all, but she didn’t know how to argue back!
When Tong Yi did all that to her, she had been more stunned than angry. But then again, he was clearly drunkard, so she perhaps could afford to be a bit magnanimous and let it pass.
But for him to play dumb after sobering up—that was infuriating! A man who can act but won’t take responsibility is the worst of the worst!!!
What’s the chance that he really had blacked out and didn’t remember a thing, anyway?
After getting back to their room, the two of them took turns showering. Jiang Li lay in bed as usual, but sleep wouldn’t come. At that moment, she really wanted to drag Tong Yi out and give him a beating.
She took out her phone and opened the chat with Tong Yi, planning to send that bastard a few scathing messages—only to see that he was already typing.
Curious about what he was going to say, she stayed on the screen, waiting to see how he’d try to talk his way out.
The “now typing…” notification kept flickering on and off. Jiang Li waited nearly half an hour—and then saw he had only sent two words: Good night.
‘That’s it?’
Wen Wan had already noticed that Jiang Li wasn’t asleep and couldn’t help but ask softly, “Jiang Li, do you like Tong Yi?”
Jiang Li was silent for a long time before answering with a question of her own: “If I said I wasn’t sure, would you think that’s ridiculous?”
Wen Wan immediately sat up in bed. “Of course not! When someone likes someone else, it can be love at first sight, or it can grow over time. And during that process, there’s bound to be a period of confusion. Not being sure is totally normal.”
Even though she believed the liking was mutual, this was something Jiang Li had to sort out on her own—no one else could make the decision for her.
After listening to her, Jiang Li went quiet for a moment before saying softly, “I’ve always seen Tong Yi as a friend, and thought he saw me the same way. But… maybe not entirely. When other people confessed to me, I could reject them without hesitation. But with Tong Yi… it just feels messy.”
Wen Wan wrapped herself up in her blanket like a burrito and chirped, “That’s totally normal, because you only just found out today that Tong Yi likes you. Of course, your mind’s going to be a mess. Give yourself some time to figure it out.”
Jiang Li chuckled, “You sound like you’ve got a lot of experience.”
Wen Wan blushed shyly. “I wouldn’t say a lot, but I do have some. At least a little more than you.”
Jiang Li teased, “Don’t tell me you’re talking about your experience with your secret crush?”
Wen Wan immediately shook her head and showed a hint of smugness. “It’s not a secret crush anymore! I now know Lin Zhao likes me, and I like him too. Once I’m officially of age, we can start dating!”
Jiang Li was genuinely shocked—this is certainly breaking news!
