Tong Yi had visited the Feng family residence many times before. Back when his grandfather was still alive, he would often accompany him there.

While the two grandfathers chatted, he would play with the twins. They were close in age, so it was easy for them to get along.

Later, when his aunt married Feng Yang, Feng Bai began calling himself Uncle, always referring to Tong Yi as his “nephew.” Feng Song was more reserved by nature, but he occasionally also called him that.

Then he met Jiang Li and learned that she was the twins’ cousin. Wanting to even out the generational gap, he tried every possible way to make her call him “big brother,” but every attempt ended in failure.

Eventually, under the twins’ influence, Jiang Li also started calling him “Big Nephew” and referring to herself as his aunt. That was even worse than the twins!

Back then, he never imagined he’d fall for Jiang Xiao Li, let alone that they’d one day become a couple.

But fate works in mysterious ways. Ever since their first meeting in Hades Li’s office, a connection formed between them, and they gradually became inseparable.

Now that they had become a couple, they’d remain together forever, never parting.

As for all that “aunt” and “nephew” stuff, it was just a form of address. If Jiang Xiao Li liked it, he’d go along with it for the rest of his life.

When they arrived at the Feng family’s residence, Tong Yi, as usual, leaned over to unbuckle Jiang Li’s seatbelt and took the chance to sneak a kiss on her cheek.

After getting out of the car, he reached for her hand, but she pulled away.

Jiang Li said seriously, “We’re at my house now, you should show some restraint.”

Tong Yi nodded with a smile. “Got it. I’ll keep a low profile. If your third uncle sees us, he’ll be even more displeased with me.”

In Tong Yi’s mind, having “stolen away” the Feng family’s little princess, it was only natural that her family might hold a grudge. It was his first official visit—he fully expected a cold reception and had mentally prepared himself.

But to his surprise, after stepping into the manor, everyone’s attitude toward him was quite pleasant. Old Master Feng chatted with him as usual, asking about his studies and investments.

Things were going so smoothly that Tong Yi felt it was almost unreal—like he might be dreaming.

Only Feng Qi and Feng Bai were in line with his expectations. From the moment he entered, Feng Qi had a cold expression, and Feng Bai looked at him like he was some kind of intruder.

Tong Yi rubbed his nose and casually turned away to continue chatting with Old Master Feng, adopting an uncharacteristically humble and well-behaved manner.

While Tong Yi talked with her grandfather, Jiang Li sat quietly nearby. She was somewhat interested in hearing about his studies, but when the conversation turned to business, she completely lost interest.

She found an excuse to step out into the yard for a walk. The twins, having seen enough of Tong Yi’s bootlicking behavior in front of their grandfather, also left the room with her.

Once the three were outside, Jiang Li looked up at Feng Bai and asked softly, “Third Brother, you aren’t doing overtime today. Did Third Uncle finally let you off the hook?”

Before Feng Bai could answer, Feng Song chuckled and said, “Third Uncle wouldn’t let him off so easily. It’s just that Grandpa specifically asked him to come back today, so he got a temporary reprieve. Whether Third Uncle gives him trouble again will depend on his mood.”

Feng Bai sighed. “Let Uncle do whatever he wants. I’ve accepted my fate. But Xiao Jiang Li, you were really something—didn’t even tell us in advance that you were dating. If I hadn’t caught you two holding hands, you’d probably still be hiding it.”

Feng Song gave his twin a look of disdain. “Such an obvious thing, why should she have to spell it out for you? You should’ve noticed it yourself. Honestly, it’s your own fault for being too dense. Anyone sharper would’ve figured it out long ago.”

Feng Bai looked shocked. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Jiang Li also looked at Feng Song in surprise. “Second Brother, wait… You already knew something was going on between me and Tong Yi?”

Feng Song ignored Feng Bai’s dramatics and smiled at Jiang Li. “Wasn’t it obvious?”

Jiang Li asked in confusion, “What was obvious?”

Tong Yi had confessed to her last year on her nineteenth birthday, but she hadn’t agreed to date him right away.

During the Chinese New Year break, she went home and spent most days accompanying Feng Qi to the research institute. Whenever Tong Yi messaged her, she couldn’t reply in time.

Their only meeting during the break was when Feng Bai dragged her along to help pick out a gift for his girlfriend. Tong Yi saw a photo Feng Bai had posted and showed up pretending it was a coincidence.

But Feng Song shouldn’t know about that!

So how did he find out something was going on between her and Tong Yi?

Seeing Jiang Li staring at him with wide, curious eyes, Feng Song couldn’t resist reaching out to ruffle her bun and explained with a smile, “After you came home for the holiday, you barely mentioned Tong Yi anymore. And you stopped calling him ‘Big Nephew’—you just used his name. That kind of change was obviously suspicious.”

Jiang Li: “…” You noticed something that small?

“Just because of that?”

Feng Song shook his head with a smile. “That was just a suspicion. Later on, I intentionally brought up Tong Yi in front of you, and your reaction was a bit unnatural. That’s when I was pretty much certain.”

Jiang Li: “…”

She hadn’t even noticed when Feng Song was testing her. And now that he mentioned it, she still had no recollection of it.

She couldn’t help but mumble under her breath, “I think you could become a detective, Second Brother.”

Feng Song laughed in reply, “Private detectives aren’t legal in our country.”

Feng Bai stared blankly for a moment before realizing his twin wasn’t joking. He widened his eyes in disbelief. “You knew about them during Chinese New Year and still didn’t say anything?”

Feng Song scoffed. “It was so obvious. I thought you already figured it out, that’s why I didn’t tell you.”

Feng Bai: “…”

He really hadn’t figured it out.

It was just a change in how she addressed him. Who would analyze something like that?

If he had Feng Song’s observational skills, he would’ve been the first in the family to uncover the truth, mainly because Tong Yi hadn’t really tried to hide what he was doing in front of him. If he’d paid just a bit more attention, there was no way he’d have stayed in the dark for so long.

Feng Bai glared accusingly at Feng Song. “It was that obvious? If it were really that obvious, Third Uncle would’ve noticed already. If even Third Uncle didn’t catch it, how can you call it obvious? Are you looking down on Third Uncle? And the worst part—you kept quiet about it. If Third Uncle finds out, he’s definitely not letting you off the hook.”

Feng Song said with a smile, “Then go ahead and tell Third Uncle. I won’t admit anything. Xiao Jiang Li probably won’t sell me out either.”

Feng Bai immediately turned to Jiang Li and asked, “Whose side are you on—his or mine?”

Jiang Li hesitated for a few seconds, then slowly walked over to the grape trellis. She sat down on the swing and said lazily, “I didn’t quite catch what you two were just talking about.”

Feng Bai walked over and grabbed the swing’s ropes. “Xiao Jiang Li, I’ve been taking the heat from Third Uncle all week because of you two. You can’t just abandon me now, right?”

Jiang Li said softly, “But if you go snitch, Second Brother will get in trouble too… maybe just let it go?”

Feng Bai pushed her gently on the swing. “Let it go? No way. But before I go to Third Uncle, I’ll give you three minutes to think carefully. Between your second brother and me, who’s more important?”

Jiang Li: “…” This is bad. Third Brother’s turning dark!

The swing rose higher and higher. Suddenly, Jiang Li loosened her grip and fell off, crashing to the ground. Feng Bai was instantly terrified and rushed over to help her up, his voice panicked, “Xiao Jiang Li, are you okay?!”

Feng Song quickly stepped forward as well, ready to lift her pant leg to check for injuries—he’d seen clearly that she’d landed on her left knee.

But Jiang Li stopped him with a hand, gave a mischievous wink, and weakly said, “I… I’m fine. Hiss…”

Feng Song: “…”

He had never expected Jiang Li to go as far as staging a self-injury act to get out of the dilemma Feng Bai had put her in!

Though technically, it wasn’t a real self-injury. Jiang Li was agile and skilled enough that, with a little care, she couldn’t possibly get hurt for real.

Feng Song only hesitated for a second before turning to glare at Feng Bai. “This is all your fault!”

Feng Bai panicked. “I… I’ll call the family doctor! You stay here and don’t let her move. If anything really… No, no, she’ll be fine! I’ll go now!”

He had only been joking. Who would’ve thought Xiao Jiang Li would get so spooked she’d fall off the swing? If he’d known this would happen, he’d never have teased her while she was swinging.

Jiang Li grabbed his arm and shook her head. “Don’t call the doctor. I’m fine, really. I didn’t even scrape the skin.”

Feng Bai didn’t believe her. “Let’s at least get it checked. I won’t feel at ease otherwise.”

Jiang Li sighed and rolled up the leg of her lounge pants to her knee. “Look for yourself. See? Not a scratch.”

Feng Bai examined her knee closely and finally let out a breath of relief. “Thank goodness. I wouldn’t have known what to do if something really happened.”

Jiang Li also felt relieved. She had been dreading Third Brother pressing her to make a choice. It’s really too hard to pick sides like that!

To outsiders, Jiang Li was always composed and rational. But with family, she couldn’t help but act cute. And if all else failed, she’d pull out the drama—Feng Bai always fell for it.

Both she and Feng Bai tacitly chose not to bring up the previous conversation again, but Feng Song, of course, had to stir the pot. With a menacing smile, he looked at Feng Bai and said slowly, “You bullied Xiao Jiang Li while she was on the swing and made her fall. If Third Uncle finds out, do you think he’ll skin you alive?”

Feng Bai: “…”

That wouldn’t do! He really, really didn’t want to work overtime again. Given how much Third Uncle doted on Xiao Jiang Li, there was no way he’d get off easy.

Jiang Li looked up at Feng Bai and said reassuringly, “Third Brother, no need to worry. Third Uncle won’t find out about this.”

But Feng Bai glanced suspiciously at his own twin. “But I suspect someone might go tattling.”

Jiang Li immediately said, “He definitely won’t! And if Second Brother does snitch, we’ll just stick to the same story and deny everything. It’ll be two against one—Third Uncle will believe us.”

Feng Bai nodded slowly. “You make a good point.”
