Chapter 1281: Divinity
Chapter 1281: Divinity
“Let’s just finish this mission… We’re getting there.” Ruth said in the end.
Just like that, the Dawnblades continued forward despite the mercenary ambush.
Of course, they couldn’t let the same thing happen again.
Their formation had become even closer as they had to make sure that even if they encountered more ambushes, they’d be in a position to fight back.
Still, the chest remained secure…
“Hey! Don’t be gloomy, guys. We’ll complete this mission.”
Cielo suddenly said as he realized that the group’s mood was heavy. They had survived the battle just now, but the attack had proven that someone was watching them.
On the eighth day of their journey, the valley widened into a stretch of grassland bordered by cliffs. The air was damp, and the silence felt unnatural.
Jericho raised his hand. “Stay sharp. This place reeks of danger.”
Unfortunately, the warning came too late.
From the brush, a pack of one‑horned wolves burst forth, their eyes were even glowing with mana.
Their horns were like spears, and they moved in coordinated packs, circling the Dawnblades!
“Formation!” Ruth shouted.
The wolves lunged. Shields clashed, swords rang, and Cecilia’s hounds tore into the beasts. Yet for every wolf slain, two more appeared. Their numbers were overwhelming.
Then, from above, shadows darkened the sky!
“Above!”
“Shit!”
“This is bad!”
Apparently, wo‑horned vultures swooped down with their horns curved like sickles.
After they shrieked, the Survivors began diving at the cart and the chest.
Still, Enkrid swung his sword, cleaving one mid‑air, but another struck a shield, piercing through with its horn.
“Damn it!” Jericho growled, driving his blade into a wolf’s skull. “They’re trying to wear us down!”
The ground trembled as he soon realized the scale of the monster wave…
From the trees, they found more enemies!
“We should move quickly… I can see more one‑horned bears…”
As soon as they heard that the bears appeared, they knew that it wouldn’t be easy. They were massive creatures with thick hides and horns like battering rams.
It would take too much energy to kill them!
Rooaar!
Unfortunately, the battle could not be stopped.
They soon roared, charging straight at the formation.
Darlene’s body shifted… Soon, her arms elongated into claws as she intercepted one, but even she slowed down under its weight.
Still, the black snake around her hissed and struck, sinking fangs into a wolf!
Hours passed in bloody combat. The Dawnblades fought valiantly, but exhaustion set in.
“It’s endless!”
“They’re not being killed!”
“How is this possible?!”
Their elixirs were dwindling, their shields were already reaching their limit and their summoned beasts were all gone!
Enkrid panted, sweat dripping down his brow.
“There are too many… we can’t keep this up!”
Cielo’s eyes glowed faintly as he strained to push back the vultures with psychic waves.
“They’re coordinated… this isn’t natural. Someone drove them here for sure…”
Ruth frowned at this, but she had held back, conserving her strength… But now, her eyes were filled with rage.
“Enough. We end this.”
She reached into her satchel and withdrew a crystalline shard… the Divine Crystal, gifted from their realm.
Its surface pulsed with light, radiating an aura that made even her companions shiver…
Jericho’s eyes widened.
“Ruth… are you sure? That crystal carries divinity. Once used, it cannot be hidden.”
Ruth’s voice was firm. “If we don’t use it, we’ll get casualties here… Prepare the array.”
She then quickly formed a circle… After that, she marked some rune lines on it.
“This will succeed,” Ruth said as she placed the crystal at the center, her hands soon glowed as she activated the prepared formation.
The ground trembled, and soon, a blinding flash followed as the divinity spread outward.
Whom~
The wolves froze, and their eyes became wide with terror.
Even the vultures shrieked, scattering into the sky.
The bears roared once, then turned and fled into the forest.
Surprisingly, the corrupted grass also wilted under the divine light.
The Dawnblades stood in awe.
The crystal’s power was overwhelming, a reminder of the Immortal who had crafted it!
Ruth exhaled slowly, her mantle dimming. “It’s done. The beasts won’t return.”
Jericho lowered his sword, shaking his head. “We’ve revealed too much. Whoever sent them will know we carry divinity.”
Cecilia’s wolves padded back as they growled softly.
“We’re not leaving this free money, right?”
“Of course not!”
Because of that, the Dawnblades looted what they could from the fallen beasts… horns, hides, and beast cores. Though weary, their spirits lifted.
They had endured the trial, and the path ahead was clear.
Enkrid held his sword tightly. “Even beasts driven by unnatural force couldn’t stop us. We’ll reach the city.”

Meanwhile, high above the cliffs, cloaked in shadow, a lone figure watched.
His eyes widened as the divine light spread across the valley, scattering the beasts he had lured.
“W-what in the world?”
He clenched his fist as he couldn’t understand what had happened.
“This feels impossible… even with the lure, they endured it…”
Unfortunately, no one could really explain to him what had happened.
“I can’t decide on my own anymore.”
Soon, the man’s cloak fluttered as he turned away.
He had been sent to observe, to confirm whether the Dawnblades were truly dangerous. Now, he had his answer.
“They are not ordinary adventurers… And they carry mystical artifacts.”
Without another word, he vanished into the forest, moving swiftly toward the nearest outpost.
His report would reach Commander Arthur within days.
The Order of the Sky Sword would not ignore this.

In the meantime, the Dawnblades regrouped, tending to wounds and repairing gear.
Still, the chest they had to deliver remained intact, guarded fiercely by the members…
“We’ll deliver this thing!”
“Ahaha! For sure! We will not give up.”
Ruth looked at her companions and spoke.
“We are the Dawnblades. This mission will be completed. And when we claim our land, we will build our future. No one can stop us!”
However, somewhere in the halls of the Sky Sword Order, Commander Arthur soon heard the words that would set the kingdom ablaze…
“The Dawnblades used divinity.”
