Chapter 1283: The Allied Knights

Chapter 1283: The Allied Knights

Rumors inside Atrium City’s guild hall were not exaggerated.

The Dawnblades had indeed gained two new members, both Platinum‑rank adventurers, whose names had already become known throughout the eastern kingdoms.

Their arrival was not by chance.

It was Jericho’s mastery of Knight Arts, his control over Will, the mysterious force that only knights could wield, that had drawn them.

Though Jericho himself was not yet at the Grand Knight’s level in his own realm, his discipline and aura convinced others that he had reached a peak few could touch.

***

Liang Shen had never forgotten the night his mercenary company was torn apart.

The four‑horned chimera had descended on them like a storm, its horns glowing with corrupted mana, its claws could easily shred steel as if it were parchment.

He had fought until his arms bled, until his comrades’ screams faded into silence. In the end, only he remained, staggering through the ashes of the battlefield.

It was not technique or strength that saved him, but something deeper… the awakening of his Will. He had felt it surge in his chest, a force that steadied his blade when despair threatened to consume him.

Still, he was untrained. He knew he had touched something greater, but he lacked the guidance to master it.

Years passed. Liang wandered from city to city, his reputation grew, and even if he was only exploring Will on his own, he had somewhat become strong.

Unfortunately, he had plateaued, unable to push beyond the limits of his own understanding.

Then, in Atrium City, he heard rumors of Jericho, a wandering knight who had joined an adventurer’s team, whose mastery of Will was said to be unmatched, a man who fought mercenaries and beasts alike with conviction that never wavered.

“This…”

Liang watched him fight once, hidden among the crowd. Jericho’s blade moved steadily.

He immediately knew that Jericho had learned swordsmanship and Will properly.

There was no wild aura coming out of him…

Indeed, with his years of experience, he could tell that Jericho’s Will was not easily crushed. It was like a steady flame that wouldn’t burn out…

Liang’s heart pounded as he realized…

‘This is the master I have been searching for.’

Because of this, he approached the Dawnblades, specifically Jericho, without hesitation.

He made a statement that goes along with this line…

“I have never seen Will wielded so purely. Teach me, and I will fight beside you.”

It was quite hard to be accepted at his age of thirty-two but it didn’t matter…

Jericho had accepted him.

“If you seek the path of Will, walk it with us. I’ll teach you… Maybe you can even learn more with your talent…”

Liang Shen joined the Dawnblades that day…

After that day, Ayaka from a prestigious Hoshino family also joined the Dawnblades…

Her story was different, but no less tragic.

She had been born into the Hoshino clan of Nihara, a coastal province where sword schools flourished like rival kingdoms.

From childhood, she was trained in twin sabers… By the time she was twenty, she had already surpassed her peers, earning the title “Silver Fang.”

But her clan was betrayed.

Rival nobles branded them traitors, and the Hoshino name was erased from the records.

Ayaka fled under cover of night, with her sabers as the only inheritance she had.

She wandered as an exile and became an adventurer…

Nonetheless, she sought strength beyond her clan’s teachings, something that could anchor her spirit. In her travels, she heard of the Dawnblades and also Jericho… He wasn’t even in his twenties.

Ayaka heard that she was not from nobles or a prestigious organization, but from an ordinary group of adventurers…

They said his Will was unbreakable and she was attracted.

As soon as she heard about him, she took her time to observe the adventurer’s team and decided to approach them… and the rest was history.

Still, what none of them realized was that Jericho, in his own realm, was not yet at the Grand Knight’s level.

His mastery of Will was impressive, but far from complete. The Platinum adventurers mistook his conviction and aura for perfection.

Jericho himself never corrected them.

He believed strength was not measured by rank anyway…

With Liang Shen’s endurance and Ayaka Hoshino’s speed skills, the Dawnblades’ power grew exponentially.

Missions that once required caution now became opportunities to showcase their strength.

And of course, they hid themselves within the small group completing Baron Silva’s commission…

***

As the Dawnblades neared the end of Baron Silva’s commission, they felt more danger would come…

Still, the chest remained intact as the city gates of their destination were already visible in the distance.

For a moment, relief began to settle over the group… until shadows stirred along the path.

Figures emerged from the treeline, clad in ragged cloaks and masks.

At first glance, they looked like common bandits, but their movements betrayed them.

Their stances were too clean, and their blades were also made of high-quality material…

Ruth’s eyes squinted as she saw them…

“Knights… disguised.”

“Too obvious.” Jericho sighed and nodded.

The ambush was swift.

Swords clashed as the supposed robbers pressed forward…

The Dawnblades fought back fiercely, but the enemy’s strength was undeniable.

Enkrid easily staggered under a blow, with his sword rattling in his grip.

Cecilia’s wolves tore into one attacker, only to be driven back by a knight’s swift counter.

Then, Ruth’s mantle activated, freezing the ground beneath their foes, but even that failed to break their formation.

It seemed that simple Arcane Spells wouldn’t work against them.

It was then that Liang Shen stepped forward…

“Leader, I think we can make our move already.” He muttered.

“Fine! Go ahead and clean them up! Use the skills you learned from Jericho! Don’t hold back!” Ruth shouted as she felt that it was time.

Hearing this, both Liang Shen and Ayaka smiled. They could finally unleash their skills!

It wasn’t just the enemies… even some of the Dawnblades stared in shock as their Platinum allies had revealed themselves at last!
